This explanation rather confused Gollum. "A humans?"
"What is a humans?"
"We doesn't knows, precious, we doesn't."
"It looks like a Mans, precious.''
"It's not an Elfs, not a Hobbitses, and not Dwarfs."
"Not Goblinses too, is it Mans, Gollum?"
"Shut up Smeagol, we doesn't knows."
The only kinds of beings that he had encountered were goblins, Elves, Hobbits, Dwarves, and Man, aka the Big Folk. The second question that the strange 'human' asked was ignored.

[Then Ukraine, Toby, and Merlin came.]

Gollum heard more voices. "No precious, not more," he whimpered. There was another human, a tiny pony, as well as something that looked like a small...goblin. Just a different and not as thin, and it didn't quite walk like one. It didn't matter really, Gollum was starting to feel hungry. It didn't help that the tiny pony thing started making noises at him. Gollum made a loud growl back, then turned to the human holding the small goblin. "Bless us and splash us, precious!"
"That's a meaty mouthful," he added with a wicked laugh.
"Goblinses, two humanses, and tiny ponyses, precious."
"Shut up! We knows," he shushed himself.

"I suppose you could call me a man, but honestly in a woman." Cicily mumbled to herself. When the other three things showed up, she backed into the trees. She did not want to be seen. Especially by all these odd creatures.

As you can see, this is Donkey.
His is one of the most annoying beings of all of the universes.
Sometimes his intelligence lets him down, but he can comprehend most situations.
Sure, he's annoying, but his loyalty is unwavering to those he trusts and considers his friends.
