"Yeah, that's... A sad reality of this race, I suppose." Aquila admitted with a bit of a grimace. She had seen parts of the track, they wanted the guards to be prepared, and it was brutal. "All the ponies entering are incredibly brave."

"These ponies face the risk of death just for a shot at joining the Wonderbolts..." Azure said. "Not so long ago, a pony could join the Wonderbolts by going to a boot camp... There the only thing they could hurt was their pride." She said. "Now they can lose their lives."

The batpony shook her head slight. "The things some ponies will do to achieve their dreams, hm?" Then again she was right along with them, wasn't she? She'd volunteered for this transfer, after all. Her position wasn't much safer, she had to be right there among them to do her job correctly.

"Yeah... Achieve their dreams." Azure said, looking up to the clouds. "I don't want anypony else to end up like Blitz.." She added, wiping some tears away with her wing.

Sylvia nodded and looked at a timer counting down the minutes until the start of the race, just as the sky began to darken.

Aquila started slightly. "Have you... lost someone to this race before?" She asked quietly before looking up at the sky sharply. "It's getting dark." She noted softly, her eyes already adjusting to the fading light.

"Yeah... He was.... My.. My little brother... He wanted to be a Wonderbolt ever since our father retired, he wanted to carry on the family legacy with them." Azure said. "He had so much spirit, so much determination to make our father proud... But instead he lost his life in the Eternal Storm during the final lap of the race... He was so close.." She said solemnly. "Father was never the same after that."
