humans are dangerous to eachother but we are also civilized so.

Animals are not equal to humans and I disagree with you strongly but I clearly can't change mind on that because honestly we're smarter than wolves and pets we keep so you tell are we equal we're not equal to them because we are above them we're top of food chain. From realistic stand point no animals are above us we;re above them essentially yes some have high levels of intelligence but humans are still smarter and at the top of food chain.

Wolves are civilized as well. They only attack each other if they are 'strangers.'

We are only on top of the food chain because we can kill easier. It has nothing to do with intelligence. In all honesty, some animals seem smarter than the average intelligence in society. Not all animals are killers, and not all people are smart.

it has to do with intelligence thefae and being civilized means you can build things drive cars speak your own language instead of making howl noises like wolves and of course lets not forget the ability to understand human society as a whole which wolves do not have any of those qualities. That is what civilized means it also means we have laws wolves do not have laws wolves do not know what laws are they just pee on bushes and mark their territory as a way of saying stay away where as humans build things. We are civilized wolves are savage and not mention wild and not people either.

I'm just going to start not posting here anymore, specially when people are suggesting that I like people dying and that I suggested the idea of a genocide. I've tried to explain my point a few times, I didn't mean we should kill humans I meant we should stop killing wolves because the situations are the same. I'm tired of people ignoring my posts and intecionally misuderstanding my posts.

the definition never said that the society had to be totally and completely humane just that we be some what humane the fact is civilized only applies to people thefae not animals sorry. on side note we;re advanced animals because we fit the definition of civilized.

Civilized means having an advanced or humane culture and society none of this applies to wolves in any way shape or form they aren't advanced nor are they humane they let deformed pups die and abandon them thats not advanced or humane they hunt for their food to and we buy ours at grocery store yeah they are totally civilized.

We take care of dogs with missing limbs we give animals such as thoroughbreds a second chance at life and although their are lots of crazy people out there we do tend to have advanced technology which wolves don't have so they aren't civilized.

Civilization is not an inherently positive thing. It's civilization that gives humans more inventive and vicious ways to kill one another, that allows us to harvest from our surroundings more than our planet can sustain, that poisons our atmosphere and destroys our environment.

Moreover, that food you buy from grocery stores - specifically the meat - is not always grown or harvested humanely. Industrialized aggribusiness causes unmeasured amounts of suffering to animals we deem to be below us which are still quite intelligent enough to suffer. Winter Soldier, I get the impression that your view of the world is rather limited at the moment. Perhaps you should make an effort to acquaint yourself better with animal behavior, ecology, ethics, and anthropology?

Many things can be considered 'savage', but wolves have their own hierarchy and ways of living, just not like humans. They can see people as threats, food or things to be ignored just like humans do. I think that's very cool and interesting.
I like wolves, they have my respect, as do most all creatures. I wouldn't enjoy culling them though (or any creature), unless they pose a threat to my family and are in no threat of dying off themselves. That, or the animal is food and I'm going to eat it, not waste it. That being said, I'm on the fence about truly culling. I mean, we have guns and stuff and we don't go into hand-to-hand combat with our food or anything like wolves and other animals. We've machines to do that for us, so culling doesn't really seem fair since we've got the advantage.
There's many good points being said, and they're making me think about it. I'll just let life go on and judge as I go, weigh pros and cons and think things over and so on.
Humans created the definition of 'civilized' to describe our race, so it can't really be used for other species. Humane is a slippery topic, but we created that word and definition too. Wolves are different from people, evolved differently, but we have things in common: the will to live, preserve species, and other aspects that all living things share. We'll never know unless a wolf talks to us, but that will sadly never happen.
That's just my opinion, anyways, but it is an interesting topic to have created, Predicament. :)
