I took the shell and almost made a cut on my palm before remembering how many nerve endings and tendons there were. I instead cut the underside of my arm and caught some of the blood in the cleaned vial that I had stored the human blood in. "Here. I hope this works." I handed Sam the vial and realized my hands were shaking.

I woke to the smell of something burning. I frowned and sniffed and realized someone was cooking fish. I sat up to see Crystal already up and cooking food. I was almost surprised by her kind gesture. "Look how far we've come. A human and a siren, and there hasn't been any bloodshed for days." I smiled.

"okay." Sam replied as he took the vial. "here it goes." he lifted the vial to his lips and drank the small amount inside. it had a strange taste, still blood-like but, sweeter maybe? for a few seconds nothing seemed to happen. then a small burning sensation started on the sides on his neck, legs, and down the middle of his back. soon he had grown gills and scales started coating his legs. it was getting hard to breathe so he jumped into the water where the rest of the transformation took place. in the end his legs had fused together to form a red tail with peach tips. he opened his eyes underwater, surprised at the clarity and stared down at his tail. "woah," he said then covered his mouth as the last of the air bubbles popped out of his mouth. he fingered his new gills, finding breathing underwater strange.

I gasped and covered my mouth when I saw the transformation. I hugged him and then held him at arms length. "Look at you! You're a siren!" I couldn't help grinning. "I have so much I can show you now."

An surprised and unearthly screech belted out of the selkie girl, a strong hiss bubbling around the wrap around her mouth. She was livid. And if she ever found this man in the wate, she would definitely eat him. And if he damaged her skin, god could only help him. Her first contact with humans was not a good one. And, seeing the mermaid with legs didnt help either- considering the selkie herself only ever had been on land only a few times. She hated legs.

Kane kept quiet as he watched the man walked off, and he just glared at his back. "I'll get us out. I don't care what he says." He said to Sapphire when he continued to get his hands free. It was confusing as of why he would need him anyways.

Sam grinned back as he looked down at himself again. "i guess i am! what should we do first?" he asked.

once they reached the beach the man set the silkie down and started to undo the ropes. "once i get you untied i want you to go back to the palace and tell the queen that i'll give her daughter back unharmed if she lifts the curse within three days. here's something for proof." he said as he untied her hands and gave her a lock of black hair. "also, if she tries anything funny i'm going to take it out on her daughter." he finished undoing her ropes and threw her skin into the water so she wouldn't be able to get it and attack him after. he then turned and walked back into the forest.

Sapphire nodded but sniffled as she started to cry. she was scared. not only that but she didn't feel like she had anything anymore. she lost her tail, her family couldn't come near her, and the feeling of being muzzled was too awful.

She laughed and sighed "true, fish?" She handed him one while eating the other "I was just thinking about how I get my tail back... today" she murmurs sadly

Kane put his head back against the tree and stared at the sky. This day could not get any worse than it already is.

"Come on, if we go to through this underwater tunnel, we'll reach the shore in no time." I swam quickly down the pathway I knew so well and soon we came out near a coral reef, too shallow and close to shore for sirens to live, but the drop off farther out provided a boundary for the seafolk's kingdom. "Over that cliff is where the caves start, and from then on, there will most likely be a lot more sirens."

I smiled quizzically. "Do you not like your tail? It must be nice to be able to go anywhere in the ocean you want." I ate the fish she offered. "Being on land seems awfully confined to me."
