Same here. =P

Good to see a few Satanists around here besides moi, though I'm a Theistic Satanist. xD

Diver Cholk wrote:I don't quite understand Satanism. Would someone care to brief me on the branches of it?

There are two main branches... Modern Satanist, which is the atheistic branch and has groups like LaVeyan Satanists, and then there's Traditional Satanism (aka Theistic Satanism, Spiritual Satanism), which is theistic. Some-- or most-- theists see Satan as a pre-Christian deity like Set, Pan, Enki/Ea, etc. :] To atheists, he's just a symbol.

There's more to all of it, but that's the basic explanation.

We simply do not belive in the 'supernatural'. And by this I mean gods, ghosts, miracles, healing , magic etc.
I could not even consider the existance of anything like that. I don't 'deny' it, I simply... well,
it makes no sense to me and never will.

Though I have seen Atheists who believe in ghosts and such... they just don't think there's some big divine entity behind it all, and it's natural. xP So even Atheists differ there.

Eh. Atheism isn't just about not believing in theism.

If you want to divide 'theism' and 'supernaturals' into two different things, the views may be
a little different going from atheist to atheist, but the ground is still the 'scientific' approach
on everything. Aka; No proof = It doesn't excist.
The general 'mode' for Atheism is the lack of belief in anything supernatural/spiritual (ghosts, magic),
because it lacks any hard evidence.

Ghosts are supposed to be 'spirits' of the dead anyway, and a atheist doesn't believe in spirits,
seeing as a spirit is a 'soul' and is a religious subject.

Personally, I'm undecided. I'm going like 3 ways.

Atheism
Wiccan
Or something I make up.

I just don't know. All I know is Christianity doesn't work for me anymore.
This is my random question of the day. A few people might no be able to answer it, since it's a Christian question, but I don't want to ask them. Too much flaming.

Is Jesus the son of only God or God and Mary? Because no goddess is mentioned for obvious reasons would Jesus be a demigod, half god and half human, or would he only have one parent which is biologically not possible since he was a real person?

Well, according to the bible, Mary and God were the parents of Jesus. So he is probably a demigod of sorts. It's biologically impossible. In real life, I think Mary was lying about being a virgin

And with good reason. She would have been killed for not being.
not a good time for women that, and definitely not a good time to become
pregnant with some random dude.

Well, if she did get pregnant with Joseph, it wouldn't just be some random dude. I think they were engaged, or something... :p

Are you inviting people to my barbecue Barty? I've horrified really religious Christian friends telling them about my barbecue :B It's going to have all the cool people though.

DiabolicReality wrote:

There's an argument that theism is natural too. Dawkins brings it up in The God Delusion, and I think it's also addressed in Ascent of Man, but superstition (and religion, which is really a more concrete extension) can be a helpful teaching tool for parents to keep their children safe. "Don't go over that bridge without me to protect you, there are trolls under it and they eat children" is more likely to stick in a child's imagination than "that bridge is unstable and you might fall off, so don't cross without me". "Don't walk under ladders, it's bad luck [if they fall on you and crush you" and all that.

Not that I'm arguing that atheism is unnatural :)
