This! Ok, I'm no artist here but my species has a two-side lineart (due to the fact that they usually have irregular markings/coats). With more complicated designs it can really be hard if they aren't regular. Additionally I like the idea of only seeing one side because the other side is up to the owners, then.

I personally love the old lineart because:
1) canvas is filled
2) the post is rather good for refs
3) pose is vivid but not hectic

But a new one might look awesome, too. I don't know which one I'd like better.
Transferring won't be an argument for me, because I think I'd just keep the old ones as refs in my GoS thread. It would award them an even more special and unique look.

Finally it's up to you. If you feel more comfortable with a change then just do it.

My 2 cents about a new lineart;

Personally I see no real reason in changing the lineart, as many have pointed out it's very useful as a reference because it shows off markings and the design nicely and fills out the canvas without leaving any odd blank spaces. Having a new lineart showing both sides can become tedious for the artists as it cannot be easy to come up with a design and then have to spend even more time designing then other side of the GoS. But then again it is afterall your specie Soap, so it is definitely all up to you if you decide to change it or not, your lines are gorgues either way!

On another note though, considering I've improved in my art style (thankfully) and somewhat in my coding too I've been thinking of revamping the frontpage when I've got winterbreak (which means around the end of February). Now I'm curious to hear if there is anything in particular that you guys want to be added/changed/removed?
Banner wise I would like to hear some input on how the layout should be made etc., but this also goes on if you guys would like a re-vote of some sorts when it comes to the featured GoSs? Meaning that we can have more than just 3 GoSs chosen.
Let me set an example; there will be around 4 banners, the first one will most probably feature 3 like now, and then the rest will each feature a GoS individually, meaning 3 new GoSs. So in total 6 GoSs can be pictured. But of course if you guys want it to stay how it is with the GoSs chosen I have no problem with that either~
It will most likely not be a fullbody banner anymore though, but more of a bust shot kind of thing. Hopefully this is okay as it makes it easier for me to make 4 banners in one week, but of course a background, shading and highlights will still be included!

Concerning the banner question:
I would lie if I say I don't need new banners. But I know how much work it would be especially for more than one. (Honestly I'd looove to see new ones, just because I'm curious how they'd look like) For the shown Gos I'd suggest the following: Use Guardians from active users. Just as a little reward for beeing active here? Another possibility would be a contest to get a place on a banner but I think that would be nearly the same as taking those from active owners. ^^'
As we're talking about banners: Who owns the black one on the current banner. I searched them just for fun but I only found the other two Guardians. Number three tries to hide from me.


Other topic: Neris new adoptable looks so tempting. I don't know if I can resist trying for her...

I am glad you are still satisfied with the current lineart as I am so too. I just wanted to throw the question in the room if there is the urgent wish for a new lineart or not. If so the lineart wouldnt have been that squished like the sketch ofc as I agree that the design might be hard to see there. On the other hand, if there would have been a new lineart, we would of course not had both sides of the GoS, as already said, that would be too much for the artists and I know how hard it can be to come up and draw both sides. If one wants both sides of there GoS we still have that ref sheet I posted a few pages ago. And if a design is really that special that there are two sides of it needed, theres still the opportunity to flip the lines, ay?
In this case I will just turn the sketch in some giftlines for you guys as it would be a shame to waste them. <:

Refering to the Banners:
Our current ones are more than lovely fanty and you know that but I'd for sure love to see new ones from you in your hell improved style! I dont mind if we'd keep the current Guardians or chose new ones though if we do chose new ones I dont really have a clue how. We could probably go for a contest thingy like Yama said (dunno how we did it last time?) or simpky chose from active users. Though I would say to give everybody a chance. Maybe we could also do something like a raffle?

Soo.. for all the dear followers out there I just wanted to give a head ups that they live, they are not dead!
Within the next days there will be a big announcement refering to the past, present and future. I do not plan on giving these guys up already. I might have lost my energy for quite a time but now I am back twice as powerful!

Todays posted Adoptable is just the start of a hopefully well-going future I plan with the GoS, the staff and of course the community!

Announcement!

Its been a long time without any word from me and it became really silent around the Guardians. But I am not about giving up, I want to give the species another chance but for this some changes and updates are needed.


Hoarding all that staff;

In order to keep the GoS running many hands, eyes and brains are needed. I cannot do it on my own and therefore will need many helping hands around this species. At first I will PM all the current staff, asking if they are willing to keep their position as I already got several PMs saying that some staff want to quit. The next thing I will do is holding an artist competition to bring new fresh blood into the species and community. I am thinking about hiring breeding and full-time artists so that some artists mainly focus on breedings while the others can focus on creating adoptables. Nevertheless the tasks will still cross each others, meaning artists can also do breedings and breeding artists can also create Guardians from time to time.
When everything is hopefully running smooth again I will also look for mods who have an eye on the topics to keep things running correct and to answer questions if there are any.


New rules;

The new rules will soon be updated on each topic they belong to.
1. There will be the feature added to request features when breeding in order to make you love your babies even more. The limit of features you can request are 3 though some artists might be willing to do more if you pay for an extra feature. That is up to every artist. Some artists might cling to how the old breeding worked aka genetics. Thats alright too.
However you cannoth request the foal to be a HGoS, thats still up to luck and the artist. (HGoS information will soon be added to the main page too.)
2. In order to the new breeding rule, everybodys GoS breeding slots have been increased by 2! Every Guardian has now 7 Breeding slots. Keep an eye on them.
3. The third rule wont last forever, just for a yet undecided amount of time until the GoS are fully back running. Everybody who wants to adopt a Guardian needs to have the stamp of the species or (as I know the signatures space is limited) at least a link to the adoption page in their signature. This shall help to spread the Guardians love all around CS and make the more attractive and well-known around.


Fancy events;

Yes, there will be many more events around the Guardians! The Summer Event and the Staff Litter were quite a while ago already but there shall be new ones! During these events you will have the chance to lay your hands on unique Guardians who have (a) event-specific markings/appearance. They cannot breed with other Guardians of their kind but the foals might inherit some of the fabulous genes. Those cannot be requested in a breeding though. They will be similar to themed Guardians. Keep your eyes open for the Otherworldly- and Dragon-Guardians, which are just two examples of upcoming Guardian events!


Get your very own custom Guardian;

Beside the events you guys will have several possibilities to obtain the Guardian of your dreams! There will be several contests in which you can win a custom, from full to half custom. The variety of contests in which you can win a custom will be huge in order to give everybody a chance, sometimes it has something to do with art, sometimes with writing and there might even be a raffle!



I have many more ideas flying around in my head but some of them might be to re-thought again or I need to talk to the staff first. I think for now that are the basic news, there was not much changed but I hope that in the future with all the events that the Guardians will be running again. But for that I of course need my helping hands and nevertheless the awesome community around the Guardians because without you guys the GoS would just be a bunch of pixels. <3
I really hope that we can work on things together to get some ol' glory of the Guardians back and make them grow!

Thats why I will shortly set up the artist contest and maybe even, after talking to the artists, the first new event.
