Delta Velorum Foxes are tall looking foxes that are only located on the remote planet of Delta Velorum.

Standing between 2 - 2 1/2 feet at the should, Delta Velorum Foxes are very tall in appearance compared to Red Foxes on Earth. They tend to be long legged in appearance and are well known for their endurance and agility. Males tend to be more muscular then females while female are more slender and elegant in appearance. A Delta Foxes fur tends to be very soft and short, and come in a wide variety of natural colors. It is not uncommon to see them in roans and dun colors similar to horses and are commonly seen in cat colors and patterns as well (such as calico, tabby, bengal markings ect). However the combination of colors and patterns are limitless, and each Delta Velorum Fox is different from the next. No two are ever the same in looks. Delta Velorum Foxes can come in any eye color and combination - no matter if it's natural or unnatural. A fox with two or more eye colors (known as Heterochromia) is uncommon but not unheard of.

variety ;; relaxed ears - medium tail - irregular / reverse blaze facial markings - heterochromia - halter accessory

I would like to Adopt a Event DVF!

DVF Name: Tobias (Tobi)
DVF Gender: Todd

Why would you like to enter? Well, to start, I would like to enter because I've become obsessed with DVFs in general and an event DVF would be so cool to win! Secondly, I can't win too many more regular DVFs due to slot shortage so I would love to take the opportunity to win a DVF that won't go toward that count. Third, I know all of these guys are going to be unique and epic and I would be honored to recieve one. Finally, my girl Salene has been bothering me about a possible mate, and I think I might be able to find her one here, possibly. :3
Have you read all the information given/main thread? Like, twenty times. /shot! Yup!
Do you agree to follow all DVF rules and Event rules given? Definitely; please let me know if I do anything wrong, I promise I'm not doing it on purpose. It might be due to enthusiasm or I somehow missed something somewhere. I only have the utmost respect for all of the DVF staff and would never offend you intentionally.

Will you complete all the Trials/Stages? I will if I have anything to do with! Sooooo looking forward to the story writing and drawing! :D :D :D

Hello, my name is ₮ѻɓɨαϛ.
I don't usually talk too much, so I recommend listening while you've got the chance.

Image

I was born the last of a litter of three healthy kits to a sire and dam who loved us very much despite the handful we could be. I was different, in both looks and behavior. I was born without a mane, without any extra fur anywhere, actually. This wasn't too big of a deal to my clan as it was not unheard of, but it was strange for my family, since my parents and their parents and several generations before had all had some form of extra fur somewhere. But I did not and to this day I am still unsure as to whether this makes me feel unique or odd.

But as I said, where my personality is concerned, I was also singled out from my litter mates. My brother and sister were always quite a bit more rambunctious than myself, but I had my own quiet way of causing a stir. I never felt the need to put myself forward as they always seemed to. I had the pleasure of being mother's favorite... At first.

Then my sister was born in my parents' second, but final litter. I conceded my mother's attention without qualm: no one could resist the little dear, even myself. To me, her name became simply "kit" and I am ashamed to say that I cannot remember her true name anymore... But anyway, I quickly became her favorite playmate and therefore her favorite brother. She and I were very similar: quiet, yet we enjoyed our own, gentler amusements. We were practically inseparable; our mother always called us her lovelies.

Ah... My mother... I think that besides my sister, I miss her the most. She was the most gentle spirited fox I ever met while I was still with my clan mates. She was the one who named me, both my full name and my preferred name, Tobi. She shall always have a very special place in my heart. However, my longing for my mother's love does not make me a frightened, sniveling little kit that lost his dam. Dare to insult me for my attachment to my family and I may tear your throat out.

Then again, maybe not. I never really was the aggressive one after all. I prefer quieter methods of retribution; I was always considered very clever with my words. In defense of those I love, though, I have been known to lose control of the outward quiet seriousness which seems to shroud my inner essence. I do not like violence, but I can and will use it in order to protect my loved ones.

I hated the war. It was a waste of time and a waste of lives and just that: a waste. It wasn't necessary either; I know that it could have been avoided if both sides had been willing to carry out war with words instead of tooth and claw. I hated it, but that doesn't mean I didn't fight in it.

I lost my older sister to that war and my father. There was only my brother, my little sister and my mother left when all was fought and done.

Fish
Loves the taste, smell, even
the feel of the scales on his

Tobi also loves the fact that
he was gifted with the
patience and quickness to
be really good at fishing.

Spring Scent
He never found the exact
origin of this scent, but he
only ever could smell it near
the start of spring.
It is fresh and exciting, but
not quite so overwhelming
as many of the flower
scents that pop up during
the spring.

Play Wrestling
Play wrestling really brings
Tobi alive! You can see on
his face and every muscle
of his body how eager he is
not only to win, but to
learn from the experience.
Its non-violent, too, which
is a huge bonus for him.

Storm Winds
The feel of a strong stormy
wind whipping through his

and unconquerable.
Often his family chided him

would become more
talkative.

Quiet
Quiet in the sense that there
are no foxes around to

Tobi has always enjoyed

sounds that could be heard
in nature alone.

Land Hunting
Grrr... Tobi has never had
the aggressive drive which
many fox hunters need in
order to attack and kill the
prey before it can escape.
Almost every land hunting
excursion he is forced to go
on ends in Tobi's humiliation
at his poor stalking and
pouncing skills.

╔══════════════════╗
Hail
It just ticks him off. Hail, in
Tobi's mind, was made to
cause him misery. If ever
any fox predicts that there
might be hail coming, he
will slink off to find shelter
for the day and won't
come out unless the
weather has finished its
cruel attack or he's
ordered out by some
higher authority. But he
will be sulky about it in
that case.
╚══════════════════╝
╔══════════════════╗
Water Past His Belly
For reasons that shall
become obvious shortly,
Tobi is terrified of water
rising above his belly. He
feels as if he will lose
control of his position if the
water starts making him
float.
╚══════════════════╝
╔══════════════════╗
Strong River Currents
While not necessarily
terrified by strong currents,
they do cause Tobi some
unease. At times when the
water runs fast, even if it's
shallow, Tobi will try and
find another way around it.

Real Fighting
Tobi hates blood shed and in
his mind, that is the only
result that comes from
fighting with others.
He is no coward, he just has
an extreme dislike of
fighting and an even greater
disdain for those who
actually take pleasure in it.
╚══════════════════╝

First I shall state the obvious by clarifying a few things about Tobi which you could probably tell simply from reading his monologue up there.
Tobi is a quiet fox; he wasn't kidding when he said he probably wouldn't talk in such quantity again. His tendency is to speak a few poignant words that get the point across as opposed to long descriptions and wordy explanations. He also has quite the collection of expressions which generally convey his opinions in any given situation.
Tobi's lack of extra fur has never really been an issue for him. It irk's him to be distinctive in his clan since he'd rather fade into the background, but no one really cared about it. Now it will help him blend in with the foxes living with the main clans. It turned out the best for everyone, I guess.
Officially, Tobi is the least outwardly aggressive fox you'll ever meet. That does not make him meek, or humble. While he does not talk about his own achievements, he inwardly gloats over his successes and talents and laughs at others' mistakes, all the while showing a sober face. Maybe there'll be a twinkle in his eye occasionally to indicate his amusement, but he generally keeps his disdain for other's mistakes to himself. He also doesn't back down from a fight, but will usually confuse his opponent out of physically attacking all the while insulting their intelligence. This occasionally just makes the situation worse, so Tobi sometimes has to show physical violence as well. He's really not a bad wrestler despite his desire to avoid it at all costs.
In case you couldn't tell, Tobi adores his family. Despite not being the oldest, he always took personal responsibility for their care and safety. One of the main reasons he loves fishing is because he can provide for his family. And during the war, he felt personally responsible for all that happened to them. He didn't tell you that his older sister died due to an untreated, infected wound. He knows that he shouldn't feel guilty, but he always will, always going through the list of ways he could have saved her. When his father died not long after, Tobi took it upon himself to take his father's place, hoping this would make up for not being able to save him either.
"...clever with my words..." should be translated as: "I was a smart-alec." As I said before, Tobi isn't one to simply give in. He usually bites back with a couple very stinging words and then walks away. His brother soon learned that the outcome was better if he just left Tobi alone.
I think Tobi summed up his opinions on war and unnecessary violence very well all by himself.
It might be interesting to note that Tobi used to be a scout for his clan. He felt it was the least violent rank he could obtain. Ambition has never been a vice for him so once he obtained his adult rank, he no longer strived to better himself but served his clan obediently. He was a very loyal clan member, almost always obeying orders except when he determined that they were completely unfair, especially to someone else.

Image

Mother*
Now Tobi remains lovingly loyal to his
mother. He will never forget her love for
him or his love for her. He keeps hope
that she survived along with his big
brother.

Cherokee
Tobi and Cherokee took some time to
become friends. Cherokee was always
ready to fight for her clan and Tobi was
always against fighting, so the two didn't
get along until they both experienced loss.
They found they had something in common
there and it helped that Cherokee was so
entirely dedicated to her clan. Tobi
couldn't help but admire her loyalty and
feel sorry that their new alpha treated her
with so little respect. While she was still
unwilling to make him her full confidant,
the two fell into talking about the
unfairness of the new leader and became
more comfortable with each other's
presence. Now Tobi tends to know when
Cherokee is upset and does his best to
surreptitiously get into a position where
she can vent to him without others
listening in.

Salene
Salene is decidedly Tobi's nearest and
dearest friend. She is always willing not
only to listen to him like no other fox
has before, but also to give blunt but
loving advice which he had come to find
is almost always the best route to take.
He loves her unconditionally and it was
only because he found that he needed to
live for her sake that he did not give into
despair entirely after being rescued from
the flood.
Big Brother*
There was definitely a bit of rivalry going
on between the two brothers. Tobi
enjoyed his mother's utmost attention and
his big brother never understood why he
couldn't get the same. However, the two
never hated each other and drew a little
closer after the death of Tobi's big sister.
She and his big brother had been close
and Tobi was there for him during the loss.
However, to be honest, Tobi doesn't think
much about him except to hope that he is
there for their mother.

Todd
Tobi feels toward Todd as an older brother
might feel about a slightly annoying but
well meaning younger brother. He listens
to Todd and looks out for him.
Occasionally, when Todd's shenanigans get
particularly prickly, Tobi will wrestle with
him, but all in good fun and it usually
lightens the mood considerably by the time
Todd wins. He always wins due to Todd's far
superior fighting skills.
Kit*
Tobi, obviously, adored Kit. He was quite literally heart-broken when he first came to and found that she was no where near. He had to conclude that she did not make it through the flood.
There is still an ache when he occasionally allows his mind to wonder to his past, but he quickly leaps away from it. It is too painful for him to contemplate for more than a few moments.
Arsen
Tobi and Arsen have been best buds since kits. They both had a sentimental side and enjoyed quieter pursuits than most of the other kits their age.
Tobi always looked out for Arsen during the war and their friendship continued to solidify.
Tobi very much misses Arsen and hopes that he got through the move alright.

I had forgotten to mention it earlier, but I feel it is important to make note of Tobi's halter. You may have noticed its simple but practical design.
In Tobi's original clan, halters were made for every kit that is born. They are a sign of status in the clan: the more respect your parents have in the clan, the more distinguished the materials they are given to work with for their kits' halters.
Obviously, Tobi's parents were not held in so high a light, but that didn't matter much to Tobi. His loyalty to his family has always been strong and intense and in a way, he feels immeasurable pride in the simple halter which his sire and dam crafted for him. It may have humble materials, but Tobi knows that in its every stitch is sewn love and hope for his happiness and strength and future.
It shall be his most treasured possession as he travels without them. He carries it as a reminder that they may still be out there and that he is still a part of their family. Occasionally, when no one is looking and when he is feeling particularly down, Tobi will rub his face against something to feel more distinctly the soft leather against his skin. He feels closer to his family, especially his mother, when he does this.

Stage Two: We Had to Go On the Move...

The clouds were growing heavy and dark with storms, but they hadn't broke yet. It felt to Tobi as if they were pregnant with the tension that seemed to buzz through the whole clan.
The leaders couldn't help showing how ruffled they were at the hasty retreat they had to make. Even the scout leader and Tobi's friend, Cherokee, was snappy instead of simply her usual brisk, professional self; he would leave her alone for now and maybe later she would be ready to talk about it. The todd couldn't bring himself to feel any disdain; who could keep a cool collected appearance when they were leaving land that had served them well for generations of foxes? Tobi certainly didn't think he could.
"Tobi!" a voice yelped, without any real enthusiasm but with urgency, "Tobi! Ma says its time to go!"
The young todd's ears and eyes flicked back, briefly breaking his concentration on the whirling storm clouds; the wind was beginning to pick up now. Not long ago, Tobi would have leaned forward, embracing the forces of nature seeming to course through his soul as well as his fur. But today... Today the excess energy only added to the knot twisting in his stomach.
They were leaving; now. There was no more time. Here he had come to know what clan life was like, how to catch fish, how to sustain his family. Here he had come to love the woods and the fields and the rivers. He had splashed in streams and had wrestled with his siblings and his parents on the dewy grass. Here he had lived a happy life.
And it was this place that had shredded those happy times like teeth shredding prey flesh.
The war... The war had ended everything.
"Coming, Kit!" Tobi called behind him, but he didn't move.
Kit seemed to understand and ran back to her other brother and mother, the only ones to survive the war. He had failed the others.
Tobi felt remorse roil through his belly like the clouds did in the sky above; it was all his fault. If only he had been fighting near them! He could have killed off the opponent before they could have given her the fatal wound. And why hadn't he checked up on her after the battle? Everyone was wounded, so obviously she would have been too. He should have pulled a healer to come and see to her straight away, before the infection had settled in... sealing her fate.
And what was he doing, leaving his father to fight alone..?
Tobi shook his head, trying to rid himself of the cruel circle of thoughts that had been eating away at his confidence for weeks now. If he let them, they would surely tear his soul to pieces, throwing him into utter despair. He didn't have time for that, not when his had living family who needed him now. The past was long gone and the present required his attention. Now. Tobi turned away, preparing to head down the hill on which he had played many times. He tried to walk defiantly away, his head held high. But he couldn't stop himself from looking back just one more time.
Tobi looked for the last time over the territory that had been his home since kithood. His eyes glistened with the memories, regrets, fears, guilt.
He would never see this place again and what was worse than the parting itself... was that he wasn't sure if he was really sorry or not...
"Good-bye..." he murmured.
He then stiffened his back as he ripped his gaze away and trotted quickly to his little family who were joining the clan as they began drifting away to lands unknown.

Stage Three: The Day of Separation

Postby FateStoryteller » Sat Jun 06, 2015 3:06 pm

"Tobi, would you find you sister?" his mother requested, "We'll be moving soon and I'd rather she stayed close."
The todd she addressed got up slowly, stretching as he did, and dipped his head obediently. He couldn't blame her for being nervous that Kit had gone out of eye-sight. These days, foxes just seemed to disappear the moment you blinked. They had just lost another scout, Up, last night. No noise, no warning at all; just gone.
Tobi shuddered and headed off on his mission more quickly, suddenly worried.
He sloshed along on the muddy edge of the ravine, glancing down at the frisky stream that flowed down below. It had swollen slightly now that the storms had passed, but Tobi was surprised at how small it still was. He could have sworn it had been bigger when they had been further upstream.
He was distracted from his puzzling all of the sudden by a voice that granted him the utmost relief.
"What're you doin' here, Tobi?" asked Kit.
Tobi's head jerked up, and his tail began wagging as he looked on his sister who also was padding along the edge of the ravine the clan had been travelling by for some time now. She had her head cocked with curiosity and her eyes gleamed with a twinkle of irresistible fun and mischief.
"Oooh..." he began casually, "I was... just lookin' for a morning snack."
And he pounced, letting out some of the tension that had been winding up inside of him from the worries he had been thinking about that morning. But Kit was too quick for him and leaped away with a grace and agility that reminded Tobi that she wasn't so little as she used to be. But that didn't stop them from enjoying the romp.
Tobi immediately gave chase, though he was never good at tag. Kit quickly outstripped him, diving into the ravine, jumping easily from rock to rock on her way down. Tobi was not nearly as graceful and all but fell into an undignified tumble a few times.
"Hey!" he growled, half amused and half annoyed, "Get back here!"
"Tobi!" a different voice, his mother's, cut through the game with a terrified urgency that chilled Tobi's blood instantly.
In that same moment, he realized there was another sound that had been building, but he had been too busy with the chase to notice it. It was a sloshing, rumbling, roaring sound from somewhere behind him. Ahead, Kit whipped around to see what was happening and froze, her ears suddenly pinned back and her body seeming to shrink in her sudden apprehension.
Tobi turned to face whatever the danger was, the roaring now deafening him.
The water he thought should have been in the ravine had arrived: a wall of rushing, foaming, fierce waves were already almost on top of him, charging like a spooked herd of thornbuck. Tobi only just had time to register the deluge before it hit him with the force of a collapsing cliff. It was almost too instantaneous for him to feel it.

Image
The water he thought should have been in the ravine had arrived: a wall of rushing, foaming, fierce waves were already almost on top of him, charging like a spooked herd of thornbuck

Suddenly Tobi was fighting for his life with an opponent whose ferocious attacks eclipsed anything any fox had ever given him on the battle field. The currents tore at his fur and flesh as no claws or teeth ever had before. Tobi couldn't even tell where air could be found; all that he could pull into his lungs was water.
Then just as suddenly as he had been engulfed in the flood, his head suddenly burst above the surface for a brief, life-giving moment. He coughed and spluttered and just got in a breath before being dragged back under.
But now he was fighting back; he had to use all the skills he had been trained to use in battle, kicking and clawing his way back to the surface. Just earning the right to get his head above the water again used up almost all of his energy and the rest he used in staying that way. Within moments he knew that he couldn't last that way. He had to find land or he would be drowned simply because he was too tired to stay afloat.
He was almost killed by his saving grace: something suddenly smashed into the back of his head and the disorientation nearly sent him into the whirling depths, never to return. But some instinct made Tobi lunge after the offending object and latch on with his teeth. It was something woody, probably a large branch or log even.
For a few moments it was all Tobi could do just to hold on. But he finally pulled together the last of his energy reserves to haul himself up onto the crude raft, draping his body over it like some weird, living ornament.
Even now that he had gained some unstable safety, Tobi doubted that he would survive. He almost felt he might just die of exhaustion and he was so chilled that he couldn't feel what kind of injuries the floodwaters had inflicted upon him.
But before he closed his eyes in order to give into the hungry void that edged his vision, Tobi glanced around him at the now huge, raging river that had swiftly carried him away.
We were... just playing a game... he thought despairingly, his eye lids closing whether he wanted them to or not.
That's when it hit him, finishing his resolve to live: Kit had been taken by the flood too. And there was no way her frail little body could have survived...

Stage Four: First Steps Toward Recovery

Postby FateStoryteller » Thu Jun 11, 2015 4:26 am

Mrf... WIP

Pound..! Pound, pound! Pound..! Pound, pound, pound, pound!
Pounding... The relentless feeling of being pummeled by... by what?
It was his first conscious thought: What is hitting me?
The answer was immediate and terrifying.
Water!
With a rush the memories began whirling around him in a panic. The flood seemed to have taken back his body to play with it again in its fatal game. But this time, instead of tearing its way into his lungs, the water seemed to be clawing its way out!
Tobi found himself coughing and spluttering, his claws scrabbling on course dirt and rocks and grass. He was still not fully conscious yet or else he would have realized that grass doesn't grow in water...
He continued his struggle for only a few moments before exhaustion forced his limbs to slow down. Tobi could hear voices now: a soft vixen's murmur and that of a young todd.
"m-mother..?" Tobi barely choked out.
The voices paused and in that pause Tobi remembered that his mother hadn't been carried miles away down the river. That couldn't be her. The only other being who had met his own terrible fate was...
"Kit!" Tobi rasped out as the word tore at his chest and his heart.
"A kit? What kit?" the female's words were momentarily understandable as Tobi's horror froze his thoughts for a few seconds.
The female gasped.
"Do you think he was saving his kit in that flood Todd?" she asked anxiously, "Oh dear..."
As her words trailed off, so did Tobi's thoughts.
Kit... was dead. There was no way for her to survive... There was no reason to be alive...
Tobi sank under the weight of his misery into the blackness brought on by despair and unconsciousness.

Image
24 hours later...

Slowly... The murmur of words penetrated Tobi's sleep...
He didn't know what they were saying yet, only that there was some reason why he must not wake up. It wasn't because of something silly, either, like if he woke he'd have to go on a scouting mission. No, this was because of something serious...
He remembered the last time he had felt this way... A shot of emotional agony ran through him at the memory of the morning after the burial of his father's and sister's bodies.
It was followed then by a roll of pain as he was forced to recall why he was so miserable: the flood, the separation. He wouldn't recall further though... not yet.
A light moan drifted up from what felt like every part of his body.
Tobi realized the voices had paused at the sound. Then they started up again, this time coming closer, where Tobi could hear them.
"Do you think he's awake, Todd? Do you?" It was the vixen's gentle murmur, laced with worry, "I think his breathing has gotten faster. I'm pretty sure he's awake. Should I get him some water, do you think? or food? He's got to be hungry. Do you...?"
Her chatter, though constant, held none of the loudness or sharpness that most foxes have who tend to talk a lot. Instead it held a gentle ebb and flow similar, to Tobi's mind at least, to the tide of the sea. Always it would flow back and forth and never stop but it was a soothing, rhythmic sound.
Nonetheless, the male fox, Todd, as the vixen had called him, interrupted the tide of her words with a gently chiding, slightly irritated yet kindly baritone.
"Salene..." he said in a would-be-calm voice, "I have told you many... Many times now, that he needs rest."
"Yes," the vixen, Salene as Tobi supposed, replied, "but how much rest? He's been resting quite sometime. Don't you think he should be waking up soon?
"And anyway," she continued before the todd could interrupted, "I was sure I heard something from him a moment ago."
As she was half scolding her brother, Tobi began attempting to open his eyes in order to see his distracting caretakers. It wasn't an easy task, though, since both sleep and river grim crusted the lids. For a second, the todd tried to raise his paw to brush off the uncomfortable stuff. Unfortunately, every inch of his legs was stiff from both the river's attack and a long lasting sleep. He had to make due with rapidly blinking his eyes and his vision did not fully clear for another few minutes.
However, he got a hazy view of the two foxes who were arguing about him.

[Insert image of hazy view of Salene & Todd here]

The vixen, Salene, was bending her head towards him, her ears quirked in a curious, concerned manner. Her eyes were slightly narrowed in her efforts to analyze the state of her patient. Behind her stood a todd, whose name was apparently Todd; he was also looking at Tobi, but he seemed less anxious than his companion, but gazed at Tobi with the look Tobi associated with the clan healer, checking on a patient.

Notes:

-feels pounding, someone's pounding out the water from his lungs
--coughs up water, falls back asleep
-starts to hear voices, vixen & todd discussing what to do with him
-gets up, meets Salene and Todd who rescued him
-some sort of remembering sequence and probably regret about his sister, maybe a mourning period.
-Next few days of recovering
-Tobi announces he is going off to find his family/clan
-Salene and Todd decide to travel with him, Salene is obviously getting fond of Tobi, but is just friendly at the moment, Todd seems to like Tobi, but is a little distant still.
-They head out, pretty positive atmosphere.
Picture? I donno... haven't decided yet. ^^'
