Although Items were free in events does not mean they don't have rarity.
For e.g the Rainbow smoothie was a free item released in '09 and it's worth an Sunjewel+
The arm bands/tail bands are worth an late '12 uncommons each. The Items on their side are worth an '08 uncommon or an '11 rare.
The tailored pants are from '11 and they are worth an '11 uncommon. In total the bottom adds up to 2 '11 uncommons and a bit more, and their side is worth an '12 uncommon + '11 rare.

I do agree that it is unfair to them, although I thought it would be worth explaining. ^^

If you're wanting to overpay then the one on the left. Either way it will be overpay, but the one on the left is definitely more fair...Just an 09 for an 09 or etc...

I thought the general rule was 3 months either way. my spider is off by 5 months. would 2 additional months really be worth a 13 rare advent?

i appreciate the help. Ill probably just end up paying the bunny, I just want a fair trade. I dont have many rares for trade, so i try to be conservative with my trading.

There are only early/mid/late '09 rares. We cannot be extremely accurate and have a different gap everytime there is an additional month or additional 2 months.
As Rogue said, an '11 uncommon is worth an '13 rare. Therefore it's fair. ^^
