vixenleap was too tired to look up at sandstar, or to even open her eyes. she let out a weak meow, letting him see her kittens.

the calico medicine cat breathed in the cool air. as she padded throughout the frozen undergrowth, she stretched up her neck. twinkling stars were beginning to break through the darkening sky. she smiled at the fallen cats. starclan, please help vixenleap find strength for her kits, she thought, sitting down at a frosted clearing, and please help me find a way through this ambivalent moment... a calling of her name made her turned around. she spotted the ginger warrior, and her heart began to thud. why did he follow her? "sunstorm!" she mewed, "what are you doing here?"

"sure!" he chirped. kestralpaw looked around, and spotted the medicine cat apprentice. "fernpaw!" he called out, flicking his tail in a signal of beckoning.

sunstorm smiled softly. "listen, i... i wanted to speak with you." he said warmly, sitting down next to the shecat. "the stars are beautiful tonight..." he murmured. just like you, sorrelcloud. just like you... he wished he could speak those words, but until she responded, he was too scared to.

fernpaw looked up, her eyes bright and cheerful, her body tired. she padded over, flicking her tail. she smiled softly. "yes, kestrelpaw? is there something i can do for you?"

sorrelcloud's breath hitched as sunstorm sat beside her. she turned to him, her heart pounding so loud that she wouldn't be surprised if he had heard her. she nodded at his statement, fighting the urge to shuffle her paws like an apprentice. "they are," she murmured, "starclan shines bright tonight." sorrelcloud wrapped her tail neatly over her paws, and flicked an ear. "w-what is that you want to talk about?" she asked sheepishly.

the dappled apprentice smiled at fernpaw. he gestured over at skygaze. "we wanted to know how vixenleap and her kit's are?" he mewed with a cocked head, "how many kits did she have?"

sorrelcloud sat there with wide eyes, digusting the confession that was just made. she turned to him. her mind was wirling with happiness, excitement, longing, and how this could break the medicine cat code. "s-sunstorm!" she mewed in disbelief, "i-i-i..." the calico medicine cat took in a deep breath. "i love you too," she whispered, looking up into his eyes.

the dappled tom smiled. "good!" he mewed, "if i let you go alone you would've passed out in the way!" a purr rumbld in his throat. kestralpaw turned to skygaze. "please excuse me skygaze," he mewed, padded beside fernpaw, allowing the tired she-cat lean on his shoulder.

Sandstar smiled at the sight of the young kits, "Beautiful.."the only words he can use to describe them. Sandstar licked Vixenleaps head, "I'm so happy for you."

Skygaze nodded to the dappled tomcat apprentice and stepped lightly into the center of the camp, stealing the same mouse he had caught earlier. He slowly worked his way to the leaders den, calling in faintly "Hello? Skygaze here, wondering if some prey is necessary yet?" he stood outside the den entrance, not stepping in until his leader, or vixwnleap herself said to enter.
