~THE ISLAND OF NO RETURN~ version 2 (accepting forever!)

"thanks." Sam said as he put the kindling under the larger pieces of wood. "now i've never made a fire this way before so it might take a while to start." he said and he started doing the things he saw on tv where they rub a stick into some wood and kindling until the friction makes a flame. he wasn't even sure it would work but eventually after a few minutes the tiniest of a flame started to sprout.

I gasped and my eyes widened. "It's like a tiny piece of the sun." I couldn't help smiling. "That's incredible." I stared as the tiny spark caught on the smaller twigs and sticks and my mouth hung open in amazement. I watched, mesmerized as the small flames danced around, almost like waves. "If only all the sirens could see this."

"Yes, and i don't 'lead humans to their watery graves' if that's what you think, I'm friendly" she smiled

I laughed nervously. "Well thats good. I'd prefer not to be someone's dinner." I rubbed the back of my head absentmindedly. "I'll have you know, that is the weirdest feeling."

"Sorry i can't really control it" come sit, she padded a rock close to her "and ill have you know we don't 'eat' humans" she laughed at the thought. "But I don't see many humans... Let alone males" she frowned"I really would like to get to know the culture better

I sat down on the rock and faced her, more at ease now. "My name is Raven by the way. What's yours?"

"Crystal " do you have a house or do you just live where ever you can?" She asked, she took a bite of the fish and swallowed, it was good

I shrugged "I was a sailor on a ship until now. I was marooned on this...well, I guess it's an island." I looked over it. "I haven't had a chance to look around yet for a place to stay."

"Oh, are you hurt from the crash?" She asked worriedly

I was surprised at her sympathy. "Uh, no. No I'm fine. I don't know if anyone else survived though." I shrugged. "I wasn't close friends with any of the others though, so I don't mind much."
