Redline with step by step horse head
(sloppy) Redline with lots of infomation

Hello ^-^ It appears that we meet~
How to draw a horse:
1. Sketch horse
2. Add small details

Just kidding, but it is fairly simply with just four (4) easy steps (the infomercial is strong with this one~)
1. Sketch it out, the sketch doesn't have to be perfect, just get the shapes and position. In the sketch stage, you should focus on proportions just a touch. Correct proportions will help you get the correct position.
2. Adjust the lengths, for example; the neck length, back length, cannons, pastern (as shown), etc. Also start to add lines to where the details will go.
3. "cut out the diamond". I had started on step 2 because step 2 and 3 can be done simultaneously. This is where you erase the mess to get one clean line ( and fill in the holes if necessary) (shown in the bottom left corner). Then, add ears. Adding the ears any sooner can mess up the entire face. When "cutting out" the details, point the ends. This will give the horse a far more realistic look than leaving the ends blunt.
4. Add mane and tail~

Notes to beginners
- Use refs until you are comfortable. I know that I am the biggest hypocrite saying this since I rarely used refs but they do help. With this, ref actual horse pictures (stock photos preferably). Referring other drawings will land you in a heap of trouble, that is considered art theft on many websites and in many rule books; leading to bans, fines, and even jail time. You will also be looked down by the entire community and in some cases, outcast-ed. Art theft is a horrible defense, and other (older) artist have no mercy for those that steal art/ideas. Lastly, site your refs.
- refs are not meant to be copied, they're meant to be studied (look at the angles, proportion, etc. Not lines), if you are struggling with refs, then you are trying to copy.
- Astray from drawing genitals...
- Sign all of your drawings, not in a corner, but close to the actual drawing. Art theft is on a rise and anyone can fall victim to those unoriginal swine.
- DO NOT give up! You win some, you lose some, but always get back up on your feet.
- re frame from "fishing for compliments". Saying things like I suck at art or This is so ugly, I don't know why I try will only get you shallow compliments, they mean nothing in the end. You also loss respect as an artist. If your not happy with your skills, fix it, practice, read, learn, don't just sit there and cry in a corner. Begging for attention will get you no where in life, especially in the art world. You are better than that.
now go accomplish great things, champ~
