the dark knight. wrote:geez I was totally surprised when I saw that. I never thought that Disney would be involved with BBC or Doctor Who. I thought it was neat, but I never really had any difficulty watching off of BBC America. Plus I feel like in the David Tennant and Christopher Eccleston days (<3 & <3) there was a lot of innuendos and adult humor that the kids who watch on Disney XD may not get. cx
As Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi took up the role as the Doctor, I've noticed that the show has become a lot more kid-friendly and they've almost completely removed all of the adult humor.
Well, from what I was reading, Disney XD is apparently meant for the "older children" and is basically their action-adventure, sci-fi channel, so that's why they're airing Doctor Who there. So I suppose the "older children" might get the innuendos. They're playing all the episodes from "New Earth" to "Journey's End," so technically not the entire run of Tennant, but most of it.
I'm kinda excited for the marathon that they're going to run. According to several of the articles that I read, Disney XD is set to have marathons:
Beginning Saturday, June 13th, and going through Saturday, June 20th, XD will air eight episodes per day, in marathon chunks, and on the 14th
So yeah. Also, so clarify, in case anyone was worried. Disney does not own Doctor Who, they're just getting the rights to air seasons 2 through 4.
If you guys want to learn more about it, you can google "Disney channel deal to air Doctor Who" since that's what I googled to read the articles.
Knowing how this sort of thing works though, I just hope that there will be enough people viewing Doctor Who on Disney XD because if there is, then Disney XD might continue the deal and try to get the rights to air more seasons.

This means that all these kids who watch DW for the first time will see 10!
Disney and I are friends now!
also, under no circumstances whatsoever shall joss whedon touch DW.
there's no reason that should ever happen. but still.
I'm already friends with Disney, but this makes me more interested to what that channel. XD
But why are you worried about Joss Whedon touching Doctor Who? From what I've been reading, Steven Moffat will still be doing the show until like...season 10.
@lucifer ~ That's what I'm thinking. I kinda like that it'll mean more people will watch it. I'm not sure if it's going to be edited or not when they play the episodes. I haven't had an opportunity to watch any of the episodes they've shown on Disney XD yet, but I'm going to try to be able to just so I know how they're planning on doing this. XD
