Lohikäärme
Akullore
'Luck' said Akull 'Thats why we're together'. I looked around at the small cave we shared, guareded by big alpha wolves. 'Yes, Luck...'
~*~
I was running, running away from the enemy. A coward but if i hadn't I would never have returned home to my sweetheart. I would have been struck by the angry paw of the gods of war. That's who i was really running away from. It didn't matter that i survived to see her anyway. I was torn from my family as soon as i reached camp. . . as a hero. A cascade of victory howls rang through our camp like sirens, warning the pack a hero was coming home. they didn't know... how could they?; They weren't there.
I turned to leader of the camp, A large male called Losus. 'Losus.. I.. I'
'Come now,' he boomed, eyes brimming with tears. I had never seen him so emotional. 'There will be time to tell of your heroic story later but i need to know... Did Freda make it out? My darling Freda... ' He looked at me, desperate for hope. He knew we went into the fight outnumbered. He knew we went into that fight surrounded. An ambush. In his heart, her knew the answer to the question he was asking me, he just didn't dare accept it.
'Im... I'm so sorry' That was all i could say, my fur shaking with the wet. Before we had entered the fight the heavens had opened, maybe waiting, knowing that someone would fall. ' One of the younger warriors was surrounded. Without her.. He might not have survived. I was...' He paused. Dare he lie to his pack? Lie about his escape? Lie about how the entire pack of warriors stood no chance?
'You were ...' Prompted Losus.
'I . . . Was . . .'
'A COWARD' shouted a voice coming from the nearby woods. I turned to see another warrior, DDraig, A large grey wolf who had already earn't his place in the pack. My place was yet to be established.
He turned his great muscles toward me and stared into my eyes; Cold hatred was all I could see. He spread his wings, great big tears had been slit through them and the transparent blood pouring through the cuts let some sunlight seep through. The surrounding wolves howled with admiration. I looked at my own small wings, almost 2 feet smaller than DDraigs'.
'YOU,' he snarled, showing an enormous set of large teeth, 'are nothing but a COWARD!' he turned to look at Losus. 'He ran from battle, almost as soon as we had got started. I have no words for him'
Great. Reduced to a thing, not even a wolf anymore.
'Lohi . . . Is-Is this true?' Asked a female wolf. I turned to see my own sweetheart, staring at me through the crowd. She wore a disgusted look on her face. 'How could you? how could you run when your pack most needed you?'
'Please,' I started, 'Just let me explain!'
'What is there to explain? You are a coward and always have been!' Shouted Losus, all hope in his eyes gone. 'Throw him into the exile cave. I Don't want to look at his anymore...'
'Please, I-I-I . . .' But it was too late. DDraig had grabbed my scruff and i was being hauled into a small cave at the bottom end of the camp.
'Stay here. You will be guarded. Don't even think about escaping.' He barked at me. 'If you try, It would give me great pleasure to personally deal with you. . .' and with that last cheery word, he was gone.
I sat pretty much alone in the cave, water dripping from its rough, creased ceiling. All in one day. I had lost half of my pack, Lost my family and lost what was probably the worst of all. . . my freedom.
I slept for what seemed hours before small scraping noises woke me. I sat up instantly, looking around. 'Who. . . Who's there?' But I didn't need to answer this because before me stood the most beautiful wolf I had ever seen. The pure white fur, the small heart on her cheek and those wings! not Dragon wings like his but beautifully sculpted butterfly wings. The most curious thing about this wolf however... was the glasses. She wore
glasses, like a human!
Will finish this story later as its getting rather BIG!
