Locks are meant for your entertainment. You don't have to follow the rules exactly imo. In my French egglocke I just WT away what faints.
i thought that the only locks that counted as locks where the ones where if a poke faints it dies so is boxed or released.
I can't say I really know the technical "definition" of a lock or whether what you're describing fits any "official" one, but in the end, it's your game to play how you want it. Nobody is going to come and punish you if you don't follow the exact "rules" for a certain lock, so if you want to change something to fit your style better, just go for it! The first time I tried doing a lock, I followed the basic Nuzlocke rules but also added/modified a few things -- taking bits and pieces from other locks while also making up some rules of my own -- to better suit what I wanted to do and how I like to play. Locks are just there to give an extra challenge and make the game more exciting, so if your goal with the game is to have fun, I see no problem in tweaking something or even just making up your own lock if you want. ^^
