meredith and dominic

"Ow!" She yelped as her head was pulled on sharply, scowling at her mother. "Hold still, dear!" The woman sighed impatiently, tightening the hair quickly. "Are you almost done?" She grumbled in an annoyed voice, tapping her feet on the carpeted floor. "Yes, will you stop whining now?" She pouted and sunk down further on the leather stool, staring at the multicolored pastel wall. "Ouch!" She hissed again suddenly as her mother gave a final tug. "I swear you are trying to hurt me." As she was turned around to look in the mirror, she brightened at what she saw. Her blonde locks were put into a small bow (made of her hair) and then tons of tiny braids hung below, like how she often wore her hair but fancier. The bow had a tiny streak of black that they had dyed temporarily, and the way she'd done it was beyond her. "Okaay, makeup, check, hair, check, dress.. oh, yes! The dress!"

She smiled as her mother hurried to the dressing room, taking out what she assumed was her dress. She hadn't seen it yet. "Tada!" She exclaimed as she came back into the room, and she hopped over to look at it. It was a slightly translucent peach color with a collar and a black bow around the waist, and a simple alien picture was seen on a little pocket. It had peach buttons going down the middle, and each button had a teeny tiny cat on it. It was sleeveless and slightly short, but comfortably short, perfect for summer. It was quirky, like her. It was pretty.

"Go put it on, then!" Her mother said, shoving her into the dressing room. "Sheesh, calm down woman." She muttered, but quickly slipped it on. 'Slipped' was actually incorrect. It wasn't that easy to put on, especially after having her hair and some makeup done. She didn't want her little cateye to get smudged. "Oh, goodness." She breathed, coming out of the dressing room. "Why do I have to wear this, again?" She asked loudly, looking at her mother with a raised eyebrow. The older woman looked at her incredulously. "It's uncomfortable! Why did you have to make it so tight here?" She gestured to her top half and waist with her hands. "You've been with Dominic for a year now; it's your anniversary! That's why!" Her mother snapped, before adding, "And have you designed a dress before? Sometimes it has to be- oh, never mind. It looks beautiful on you, dear, you just have to get used to it." She said soothingly, smiling slightly. She sighed angrily. "Fine." Her mother glanced at the clock across the room and jumped. "Oh! Go now, quickly, quickly, have fun, honey! It's nearly time, and you have to drive yourself to the restaurant still!" She rushed, ushering her out the door with a thin black jacket. "Calm down mom, I'll be fine!" She said in an exasperated tone, and her mother shut the door with a bang.

She quickly drove to the sort-of fancy restaurant that Dominic had told her about, grinning at the sight. It was a sunset orange color with nice browns and other shades of orange mixed in beautifully. She got to their table to find him sitting there, staring at the menu, clad in a nice suit. His light brown hair was in it's usual slightly messy style, but it seemed like he had made a small effort to make it look a little bit nicer. He looked up at her eventually and grinned.

She slid into the seat, grinning back at him. "Meredith," He said 'formally'. She would have mistaken it for formal if she didn't know him. "Dominic," She replied smoothly. "Did I miss anything?" She added after a few moments of silence. He shook his head. "Nope, I just ordered us both 7-ups like we're fancy or something compared to the adults getting wine or extravagant, expensive drinks." He replied, and she laughed. "You look.. beautiful." He added appreciatively, and she couldn't help the slight blush that crept onto her face and stained her cheeks. "Uh, thanks." She said quietly; she still wasn't really used to compliments from him, even if they had been dating for a year. A year. A whole year. It had gone by so fast, yet went in slow-motion almost; it had been one of the best years of her life.

"It's uncomfortable." She blurted randomly, and he laughed. "Doesn't look it." He reached across the table and grasped her hand carefully. A waiter came and brought them their drinks.

His light blue eyes flickered in the soft orange light, and they said nothing for awhile, just sitting silently with their hands connected over the new-looking wooden table. She looked at the menu. He looked at her. More like stared. He admired her features and seemed to be attempting to memorize her face with his eyes.

"So," He said finally, breaking the comfortable silence. "How have you been doing as the guinea pig for your mom's creations? Died yet?" He asked sarcastically, offering a wry smile. "I'm here, aren't I? Barely made it out alive, though." She commented, nodding 'truthfully'. The same waiter came back to their table. "Hello, my name's Gavin and I'll be y-" He was interrupted by a loud crash, followed shortly by a bang. "Your server tonight.." He finished slowly, looking over his shoulder. He waited some seconds before saying anything more, seeming to pause to see if the noise would repeat itself and he would need to help investigate. Eventually, he shrugged. "What would you like to or-"

        The lights went out.

Everything became completely black, not a speck of light anywhere inside. And Meredith was terrified of complete darkness. She felt his fingers brush reassuringly against her hand before they left her, and she wanted to cry.

A scream barely had time to escape her throat before many more bangs crackled through the air. Dom found her somehow in the utter blackness and held her close to him. That was when the shrieks started attacking her eardrums.

oliver and madeline

It was time. Forever had seemed to have happened twice now, but it was time. There was to be freedom for her, for him, for both of them to be out of this building. Of course, he hadn't been initially stuck in the hospital with no escape. But he visited her so much it had felt like a prison, trapping them both under this possibly escapable Amnesia. And now they had served their time (im)patiently. Time to leave.

"It's time for you to leave." Doctor Kellan said simply, in a tone he couldn't make sense of. Madeline had been allowed out of her bed for a while now, but never out. He had refused to actually go outside except for getting in and out of his car so he could share the longing of fresh air with her. Share everything, the whole experience. She wore a normal outfit she had chosen )he had brought some of her clothes from home to here for her to wear) instead of the chunky blue hospital gown, made to fit anyone, but simply not her. Even in one of the smallest sizes for adults, it had been much too large for her, swallowing her almost childlike figure alive. Today she wore a dark gray t-shirt with a light peach sweater over it, red lettering on it that read 'I Solemnly Swear I'm Up To No Good'. She liked to read, and he had brought her all seven Harry Potter books to the hospital one day. She had been delighted, and read the whole series again. She had her favorite black skinny jeans on (they looked uncomfortable to him but were apparently comfy to her), and a pair of red converse.

Everything that happened to get them out went by so quickly he forgot what was happening. They had gotten them out and everything in a total of about five minutes, which he found impressive. They found themselves outside the hospital doors, panting, and sucking in damp air. Gray clouds hung from the sky and dropped rain with occasional thunder and lightning, and a terror seized him for a few milliseconds before he realized that was irrational and they would never be the victims of a car crash ever again. He grabbed her hand gently, glanced at her to see her still breathing greedily, and then pulled them quickly to his car before they could get too wet. She protested, but said nothing. He started to do up her seat-belt for her before she said, "I can do that myself, you know," and he laughed nervously, nodding. "Yeah.." He said awkwardly, but she didn't seem to mind. She was used to his awkwardness by now. She sighed. He pulled out of the parking lot and started driving.

They went down mostly empty roads due to it being quite early in the morning for most people, and didn't have much trouble with anything. It was a calm drive. Madeline was glued to the window, hands making prints and breath fogging it up as she stared around at everything. He couldn't blame her; she had been cooped up for over two months, maybe even three. He'd lost count of the days. He only knew that the crash had happened on March Sixteenth. He would forever despise that day. She had awoken (though he hadn't seen her) a month and sixteen days later. Sixteen. That number seemed to follow him. Why, he would never know.

She gasped suddenly and he looked at her questioningly. Her gaze seemed to be locked on a.. park. An old playground. They had been to it countless times; it was very near his house, so they must be close to home. "Can we stop and go in there and just feel the rain?" She blurted, nose pressed against the window. A flash of lightning and a clap of thunder followed her words. He stared at her, and she turned to look at him. "Let me get this straight;" He began with a faintly raised eyebrow. "We're in the middle of a thunderstorm and you want to stop and just feel the rain?" She barely hesitated before nodding. He sighed. "Fine." He didn't want to say no to something so simple on her first day out. She laughed and bounced a little in her seat, itching to get out of the car. Soon he swerved to the right and parked next to a deserted sidewalk which was next to an equally deserted park. She practically hopped and pranced her way out of the car like a little deer once they were parked, nearly forgetting to undo her seat-belt. He followed her begrudgingly. This was a bad idea.

But it didn't seem like a bad idea. He expected the rain to be the fast, cold, thin rain that had poured down in sheets on 'that day'. No. The rain was slow and lazy and large, and it was warm. Like bathwater. He saw her dancing around the slides and swings and laughing, giggling, smiling. She didn't smile much in the hospital. Only when he was there. And if she even smiled when he was there, that, too, was a rare occurrence. After around two minutes she was already soaking wet.

"Come on Oliver!" She paused her frolicking, grinning at him. "This is fun, stop hiding under those trees." She skipped over to him and grabbed his hands, pulling him out from under the safety of leaves. He stumbled and made an indignant noise before being pulled along, around and around the child's park. Soon the fat rain droplets soaked his clothes, too, but by then he didn't care. He was dancing around with her. In the rain. With thunder acting as their music, lightning pretending to be the spotlight. And there was no audience. Just them. He grinned at her and picked her up, spinning her around for a moment and then bringing her close once she was on the ground. She sighed happily. "Just us." He murmured, and they danced on.

william and roscoe

The sound of gun shots filled the air and made his eardrums ring, and he followed swishing dark red hair blindly amongst crowds of panicky people running away. He latched onto her hand as best he could, trying to ignore jolts of electricity that shot up his arm occasionally, and simply gritted his teeth. There wasn't much he could do but follow her. How she knew where to go while surrounded by swarms of humans, he would never know. He would never be able to do that. She was able to swim through currents of anything (most likely bodies) with ease and not get the slightest uncomfortable. He was embarrassing. He was uncomfortable. He wasn't a majestic redheaded dolphin. No wonder she wasn't used to him.

"Come on, William! You're slowing me down!" He managed to hear over many frenzied voices. More gun shots sounded, and he winced. "I'm kind of surrounded by people and I can't really help that." He muttered, adjusting his glasses that people kept knocking off accidentally. She grunted and began to sprint, and he sighed, doing his best to keep up with her while not losing contact and not losing his arm. That girl. He thought in an annoyed tone, and he thought for a moment she might be able to read his thoughts because she seemed to grab his hand harder and her nails dug into his palm. No, that's unrealistic, he reasoned with himself. His mind distracted him for awhile until they got to the stairs, and he had to jog to keep up. His legs were tired; they weren't used to this kind of exercise, and they protested, but he tried to 'deal with it' as best he could. As they got to the top of the stairs, pretty much at the building's roof, he thought they would make it. Nope, apparently not, that would be too easy. A few men stood at the roof, and bodies buffeted them as they tried to escape somehow off the building, but they seemed unfazed. He gulped, and he felt the girl stiffen.

"Here, little doggie." The one in the front cooed, a skinny male with black hair, black clothes and nearly black eyes. She narrowed her deep blue eyes at him. "Hi, Emmett." She scowled at him. The man called Emmett shifted his eyes to look at him. "Ah, brought your boyfriend, eh? Care to introduce us, old friend?" He doubted 'old friend' was the correct word, and his brain doubled over at the word 'boyfriend'. "He is not my boyfriend, Emmie, and we are not old friends." Emmett seemed to look angry, no, pissed off at the nickname, and he ran his tongue over his white teeth. He clicked his gun into place. "Wrong answer, doggie-doggie." She immediately took off, and he hadn't the time to ask any questions on where they were going and how they would get there. He would have shot her chest. He would have killed her. But no, thank goodness, he shot her shoulder. She screeched in agony but managed to keep going, and neared the edge of the building. "Wait wait, where are we g-" "JUMP!" She yelled at him, cutting him off and leaping over the edge. He did it somehow. He sprang, thought he was going to plunge to his death on the city streets below, and landed somehow on a nearby building. He banged his legs in the process, and they burned more, but he kept going. He heard a yell of frustration from behind them, and knew the group of three was following them. "William!" She yelled at him. "Plan, please!"

"Why must I think up of a plan while running away from something trying to kill us?" He yelled back at her. "Because you're the brains of this duo!" She screamed angrily, leaping off yet another building and bringing him along with her. He heard a cry of pain through gritted teeth, and he realized he was holding onto her right side, and her right shoulder was the one shot. He thought silently, furiously, searching ahead for more ideas as they leaped like deer across building with Emmett and his buddies not far behind. Then he saw a building up ahead with two windows right next to each other on the side, including windowsills which they could step on. He didn't know if any people were inside, but they looked like they could be opened. "Okay, got it. Two buildings ahead of us have two identical windows right next to each other. We could break one of them and confuse Emmett, making him think we went in there, but in reality we opened the other one and slipped into that one. We'll have to do it really quickly, so we should get farther ahead of them." He said calmly, and she glanced back at him, nodding. "Great. I'll break the window, you open the other one quickly." He nodded as well, and they sprinted up farther, jumping one, two buildings and making it to the designated window one.

They dropped down onto both windows, and he swiftly managed to open it enough for them to get it. She broke the other one loudly with her foot. "Thanks, Roscoe." He said almost sarcastically. They slipped into the opened one, and then he closed it. No one seemed to be in the room, but he heard confused voices in the room next to theirs where they had broken the window. Then they ran down flights, and he heard Emmett and his henchmen. "Come on, they went in here!" He told them, carefully slipping into the broken window. He heard them yelling at the people in the room, but he didn't kill them, and was thankful for that. She winced when she ran, and he noticed a single glass shard stuck in her left boot that must have been starting to poke at her foot. "Where are they?!" Emmett yelled, not noticing the stealthy pair hop down flights of stairs, nearing the building's ground level and doorway out. Then they made it to ground level, sighing and catching their breath for a moment. Then the gang flew into the room. "Ha! Found you now!" They shot out the glass doors, but he managed to shoot, and it skimmed past her right leg. She groaned; it must have hurt anyway. He led the way now, searching for his car. Where is it, where is it, where is it! He had his keys out, and then he spotted it, unlocking it right away.

They both slammed the doors once they were in, did their seat-belts up quickly and then he started driving, speeding away from the city and down deserted roads behind everything that no one ever noticed. He hurtled across the road until he got to their 'house'. It wasn't an apartment, but they were 'roommates'. Their living arrangements were confusing. When he parked the car, she immediately flung the door open and collapsed onto the dry grass. Slowly but surely, he got out, closed his door and made his way around the car to her who was panting, looking pale. "..Are you okay? Do you need my h-" He was interrupted by a sneer. "I don't need you! No, I don't! I don't need anyone's help!" She screamed at him, tears shining in her eyes. They didn't come down though. She clenched her mouth shut and forced herself not to cry. She stayed like that for awhile, staring into his concerned face before her facade broke. She cried. He fell to the ground next to her and sat, gently pulling her head onto his lap. She didn't protest. "Yes, you do."
