Foxpaw flicked an ear nervously as he watched Poppypaw ascend even higher. The meager tom cleared his throat and hopped up another brunch in a cautious pursuit. "You really shouldn't get much higher Poppypaw. Those branches don't look too stable. Anyways, I don't see what you did wrong. You were only being you." He lashed his tail back and forward to keep balance and clung on even harder though he was sure he'd be fine where he was. He just wasn't fond of heights. But with time, he grew accustomed to the feel and was able to straighten out his stance.

" No, I was trying to play warrior," she growled," That wasn't me. That was me trying to be a snobby uptight warrior!" She cautiously tried to ascend higher. The branches creaked as she creeped higher. Poppypaw gasped at the wood started to snap.

"Poppypaw!" Foxpaw almost lost his own balance when he heard the snapping branch above him. What should I do? I'd be useless down here and a bother up there. He looked around for a different branch that she may have been able to jump to but he saw none. Mousedung, why didn't hiss clanmates ever use their brains. Mustering up some courage, he slunk through the trees and began to steadily climb but he wasn't sure if he was fast enough, "Don't fall!"

The branch snapped and Poppypaw's paws slipped, and she screamed. She fell, but used her claws to clasp onto the first branch she hit. She struggled to hold on, gasping. She cried out," Foxpaw!"

Maplepaw/Earthclan

She ran back into Earthclan territory and slowed down trying to look like she was just hunting but came back with nothing. She had a calm expression and passed by the trees that were way taller then she was and then she smelled some of the apprentices in her clan and followed the scent wanting someone to talk to. When she got there she saw Poppypaw and Foxpaw and gasped seeing Poppypaw almost falling from the tree and Foxpaw climbing up it "what are you doing?!" she asked

" Help!" she sobbed," I'm g-gonna fall!" She choked out the last part. Poppypaw's paws scrambled until one paw slipped.

Foxpaw closed his eyes and took a deep breath. This was insane. He'd never make it. He wasn't good at anything that didn't involve logic. But when he opened his eyes, he saw the branch that Poppypaw was clinging to and then her as she desperately cried for help and clawed away at the branch. It was far away and down below and for the first time in a long time, the tom did something without thinking. With power and force he jumped from the safety of his branch and felt his stomach collide into the branch he needed to get to. It was painful but he hadn't time to dwell on that as he mustered what agility he had to stable himself. "Poppypaw hold on. I'm coming!" With a determined face, ran along the branch until he reached her and as his heart pounded against his chest. Just as the she-cat lost hold completely when her paw slipped ad she had begun to fall, Foxpaw felt his teeth close around her scruff and he fought hard to keep himself from falling down with her.

This is crazy. I'm insane, he thought as he pulled her up with the strength he didn't know he had, his legs and neck shaking with every effort.. He supposed those extra hours training had paid off somewhat. With the two of them safely on his branch he crouched down and started breathing hard glancing at Poppypaw every now and again. "Are... are you okay? Sorry I didn't get ya sooner. Had to fight my brain there for a second." Despite what he'd gone through, there was an amused flicker in his eye and his tail rested on Poppypaw's flank. He could hear Maplepaw calling out and he answered just loud enough for her to her, "It's okay... I think we're fine. Right?"

Poppypaw breathed heavily, then nodded," Thank you..." She looked up at Foxpaw, but suddenly her back started bristling and she moaned," I'm okay, it's just... Ack! My leg!" She tried to move it but it was stiff. She slowly started to wriggle down, wincing. There was one last branch. She was almost to the bottom. She looked at the ground, squeezing her eyes shut, and tumbled down, hurting her front right leg," I'm back down here!" She was about to jump, and help Foxpaw down, but when she tried, her knee buckled. She didn't understand why. She couldn't even feel that leg!
