Oh jeez I seem to have missed a few questions
do you prefer longer titles [ such as "the fault in our stars" ] or shorter titles [ such as "divergent" ]?
Honestly, the length doesn't matter to me. One of my favorite titles belong to the Kingkiller Chronicle, like Name of the Wind and Wise Man's Fear. But also Inkspell and Firebrand are some of my favorite titles as well.
Personally I have insane difficulty with titles that are more than one word. Sometimes I can get two but those ones I reeeeaaaally have to think about.
Though admittedly I like titles that are long enough to have... whatever the word for it is that slips my mind at the moment
liiiiiiiike LOTR and TFIOS and you dont have to type the title but everyone still knows what youre talking about
yesss
I like those
also... I love Hidalgo oh my god

i don't really have a preference.
i think it doesn't matter to me because a title represents an artist's work, ya' know?
and so when an author can pull off a title with more than one word perfectly, then that's brilliant.
and if an author can put their story into one word and don't need anything else to describe it,
then that's perfect too.
idk, just my preference.

Personally I've never come across reference to kelpies in Irish folklore. There are Irish water horses that are very similar though. Then again, it's your story to do whatever you wish with it. XP
do you prefer longer titles [ such as "the fault in our stars" ] or shorter titles [ such as "divergent" ]?I lean towards long titles myself. Really don't care much for the current trend of "single random word for title" going on right now. Then again, it's unfair to judge a book by it's title. A title should say something about the story and have a nice rhythm and flow to it, and if one word works, then one word works. But long titles tend to catch my eye.

I like both, but really, I have to read the book to judge the title well

to be honest, the book 'Matched' has really decreased my respect for short titles
i'm sorry but it was such an annoying book
i hated it, not even joking, so much that i knew the rest of the series was gonna be crap
also veronica roth over did the whole 'one word' thing for the rest of divergent
Short titles are nice as long as you don't crap all over the story
but in the end it doesn't matter at all
heh

that story oh. my. lord.
it was so long and convoluted some times.
i never even finished reading reached because i was so done with the trilogy

it doesn't really matter to me. people are going to end up abbreviating long titles, anyways. no one i've come across actually says 'the fault in our stars'. they usually say 'tfios' (<-- that bothers me so much when people are actually speaking like you don't understand)
when i name my stories, they're usually short, one word titles. recently, i've gotten a lot of crap for it, but my stories are usually named after the main character.

haha, which one? x3
I hated the matched series and immensely disliked the rest of divergent
Seriously Matched has to be one of the worst books I've ever read.
Roth shoulda stuck to one book, I didn't even have the patience to read the rest of allegiant so I skipped to the ending
but seriously the ending sentence for insurgent?
"Then the shouting begins."
-slow clap-
Great job Roth, great. job.

@ ash - i was talking about matched, oops xD
i feel like roth is one of those people who has a really good idea with loads of potential but isn't great at executing it.
with allegiant i actually sorta predicted the ending i mean the minute an author creates to two povs for the last book you know something 'bout to go down <-- ooh spoilers
speaking about dystopian novels,
who here has read the maze runner??
say one negative thing about that book anD i swear (even though i actually have a lot of negative things to say about tmr)
i really love the maze runner series, though. most of the characters were perfect (well, you know what i mean) but then i felt that westerfield was like "girls ruin everything -.-' "
