Another year has gone by- another turning of all four seasons. Autumn has drifted on by, taking with her the russet and golden leaves of slumbering deciduous trees. Winter sank her icy grip into the Earth, her chilling winds filling the lungs of anyone who dared to step outside and her blanket of white adorning the tops of mountains. Spring had to fight hard to take back the land over here, but eventually the pallid sky turned to deep azure and the once dull land sprang into life with a fresh green hue. And now we are on the eve of Summer’s reign, with the temperatures slowing rising with each passing week. It is truly amazing how an entire cycle of seasons can fly by in what can seem like the blink of an eye!
Yet despite the changes that occur in our amazing and majestic world some things stay constant and true. I am more than happy to say that one of these things is the love and friendship I feel for the closest friend of the many fantastic I have met through Chicken Smoothie. Her username is SerenWish and she has always been the kindest and the most loyal of friends anybody could ask for. Her patience with me in my tempers and frustrations has been unrivalled, even surpassing those of many of my friends around me. She has sympathy and empathy that are seemingly unending, with her words never failing to lift my heart when it has been torn down. And her encouragement, through both times of sorrow and times of joy, if enough to make me feel as if I could soar through the azure skies above. This woman is truly amazing!
I think it’s safe to say that this past academic year has been fairly rough for the both of us. Our correspondence with each other has waned a little due to both sides having different constraints on time, stress and emotion. But has this meant that my feelings for her as my closest friend have waned in parallel? Of course not! If anything it has made the times I have been able to send messages and find the time to read them all the more special and memorable to me. Ask any of my close University friends and they’ll tell you about the wonderful friend I have in the US who sometimes I won’t shut up about! And all for good reason: because SerenWish is a friend worth talking about. In fact, Seren is worth more to me than words could describe.
Seren, you have given me so much over the past two years. Thank you for the honour of being my friend!
