heheh // ana & mirella, feat. heath // from delcie's 100 scene challenge.░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░Mud slicked jeans, roadburn covered palms, a dying iPhone - all things required for a terrible weekend. The forest was thick with insects: you know, the kind that made passing blows in your ears. No city lights were present to contend with the bright moon overhead, but still, the woods were home to unfriendly shadows that played a gut-wrenching game of hide and seek. The trail they walked on had been straightforward, until now, as they stared dejectedly at the forked gravel.
“I hate you,” Ana said suddenly.
“That’s not what you said last night,” Mirella growled, rolling her head over her shoulder to glare at the shorted blonde. “Did you even think to look where you were going? No, I don’t think so.”
“If you would have kept your freaking mouth shut we wouldn’t be tracking out here in the woods!” Ana barked, flinching when her voice bounced around them with nothing to contain it. Her throat bobbed with her swallow.
“Shh,” Mirella hissed, poking her chest with her finger. “The lions, tiger, and bears oh my could hear you.”
Ana had never wanted to punch Mirella more - and that was saying something. A flustered snarl split the silence between them, drawing a crooked smirk to Mirella’s lips. She stormed around her, fists balled at her sides. Laughing to herself, Mirella ambled after her, reaching into her pockets to clasp her tangled headphones. Eyebrows arching, she popped them into her ears, turning it up just loud enough so she could no longer hear Ana’s squawking.
To her left, Mirella spotted a fallen log. Mischief uncontainable, she bounced over to the crumbling tree and leapt onto it, windmilling her arms to steady herself. Once she was able to keep her balance, she locked her gaze on the back of Ana’s head, taking one of her earphones out. Smiling sheepishly, she started to sing, causing Ana to come to an abrupt halt.
I’d give you everything that I am,
I’m bending over everything that I’ve got,
cuz’ I wanna have a really true love,
Don’t ever wanna have to go and give you up.
Stay up ‘til four in the morning,
and the tears are pouring,
but I wanna make it worth the fight,
What have we been doin’ for all this time,
baby if we gonna do it,
come on do it right.
Very unamused and looking fairly pissed, Ana swiveled to face Mirella, stalking toward her at a slow pace that promised a storm. Still, Mirella’s grin widened. Laughing loudly now, she began to dance - or, tossed her body around, anyway - raising her voice as loud as she could and continue to sing to her. Tongue pressing to the inside of Ana’s cheek, the blonde opened her mouth wiith intent to release her fury, but something behind Mirella caught her eye.
A man. With a ski-mask.
Eyes widening, Ana took a step forward, hands outstretched to Mirella in a frantic outreach. Mirella took this as play - clasping her hands in hers, swinging her back and forth, but Ana gave her a fierce tug, dragging her away from the log. Lips pursed Mirella readied her “you’re such a buzz kill” speech, but Ana’s paling expression made her stop short.
“Run,” Ana gasped.
“What?” Mirella demanded, becoming frightened.
She cast a glance over her shoulder just in time to see the guy marching toward them, melting from the bushes like something out of a horror movie. Drawing in a horrified gasp, Mirella slapped her hands to Ana’s shoulders and propelled her forward.
The girls sprinted along the left side of the fork, fleeing whichever way seemed the most logical. Mirella pulled ahead of Ana with her longer strides, but the dark haired girl slowed down, throwing her head over her shoulder constantly to make sure Ana was following. Tears streamed down her face already. Mirella wanted to pause to wipe them away, but such a thought was extremely irrational.
They’d hardly made it away from the fork when the man caught up with them, wrapping his arms around Ana’s waist. A blood curdling scream popped from her mouth. Mirella felt the cold teeth of panic sink into her chest and rather than running on like she should have, she turned around and made the first move she could think of.
She kicked the man between his legs.
“Ohh!” The guy cried, letting go of Ana so that she barreled forward into Mirella’s arms, burying her face in her chest. Mirella turned them to keep running, but the guy’s mutters caused for her to pause.
“Oh my god, Mir,” he groaned. “Ahh, what have I told you about fighting dirty.”
“Heath!?” Mirella squeaked. “What the- why didn’t you- What the hell!”
“I tried to yell for you,” he whined. “But you were too busy singing and screaming.”
“The ski-mask,” Mirella said, flinging her arm out to him. “It throws the whole ‘hey I’m hear to help you’ off just a little bit, don’t you think.”
“It’s cold,” Heath retorted, staggering to his feet. “Like your heart.”
“Hahaha,” Mirella mocked. “Never heard that one before.
Arm still snaked around Ana’s waist, Mirella ushered her onward, walking after Heath who supposedly found their car on the side of the road nad had followed their trail. So, as Ana shamelessly clung to Mirella, she very promptly decided that they would never be taking Mirella’s car anywhere ever again.
