Canina didn't seem to notice his reaction, as she was too busy being flustered herself. She bit her bottom lip with her scraggle tooth nervously and swiftly gathered the rest of the broken pencils. Allowing her still-wet hair to fall over her eyes a little to hide her still-glowing face, she set the pencils down on the counter. For a moment she didn't turn around, still standing there with her back turned to Equius. At least from his perspective she was just standing there. The truth was, she was willing her face to stop being so agate. Canina wasn't sure what to do. Apologize again? Offer to do something else? Make a shot at a joke? She found herself slightly frustrated as she waited for her cheeks to stop burning.

Equius watched her for a minute, wondering why she was just standing there. "D --> Canina, are you alright" he asked, taking a step towards her. He was unsure what she was doing... Could it be that she was just as flustered and uncomfortable as he was? No, no... That probably wasn't it.

She jumped slightly at the sound of his voice, and suddenly realized how long she had silently been standing there. She cringed and desperately tried to stifle the blush that was threatening to get worse as she turned around. She found it hard to look him in the face. "Ye&h, I'm fine," she replied. Canina's voice cracked on the last word, and she found herself coughing slightly. She swallowed. "I me&n fine," she gave him a crooked, toothy smile that looked a bit pathetic, and forced herself to look him in the face. Wh&t the--why &I'm I swe&ting?!

"D --> I... see" Equius decided not to dwell too long on the subject. "D --> Well, I was planning on heading back to my hive" he told her. "D --> Thank you for inviting me over. Perhaps sometime you'll come and see mine"

"Oh," Canina mumbled simply, her voice making an obviously disappointed dip. She blinked. Then blushed again. Her face was a blotchy orange mess as she stood in front of him, trying to figure out what to say. She hadn't meant to sound so...sad! She glanced from side to side quickly, clearing her throat. "I me&n, um,,," she growled to herself, feeling stupid and slow. "&lright, I guess,"

Equius stared at her for a moment. "D --> Come over whenever you feel like it. I would write down directions, but" he trailed off, glancing at some of the pencil remains that were still on the floor. "D --> Well, I suppose I should leave now"

Canina stared down at her Converse shoes, eyes dull and expression deeply disappointed. She tried to cover her face with her hair a bit, feeling guilty for acting so childishly. "Ok&y," she said, biting back a discontent sigh. She stepped toward the door. "Uhm, before you leave, though, t&ke something with you," she said, and before he could react, she leaned up, pecked him on the cheek, and dashed up to her room. "Bye, Equius!" she called down over her shoulder as she thumped up the stone steps with an orange face.

Equius's face turned a dark shade of indigo blue. Someone just kissed him... A lowblood just kissed him. But... She was different, in an Aradia sort of way. She took command, unless growling under her superiors of course. Equius touched his cheek for a moment, then realized he was sweating an incredibly amount. He stepped out of Canina's hive, heading back to his own. That was when he turned to someone knowledgeable for advice.

Karkat just nodded to her statement, then finished his pancakes. He stood and cleaned the small mess he'd made quickly, then went back upstairs, and watched Marcei through a window.
