Kestrelfire took a deep breath, "Alright, I might as well start from the beginning..." He closed his eyes and the memories flooded back, "I was born just outside the twolegplace border, however they didn't find my family at first. My mother managed to protect us from the twoleg kits who wandered too close to our den, raising us for as long as she could alone. However, we grew quickly and soon, as all kits, began to explore and get into trouble. I was usually the one to lead our "expeditions" away from our home, almost getting lost one time or another." The red tom stopped, clenching his jaw slightly before continuing, "One day, I had heard an unfamiliar noise north of our den and chose to investigate; my siblings deciding to tag along. When we reached the treeline, the air was masked in a hot, acidic scent; we had found the Thunderpath. Disgusted by the smell but too curious not to get closer, I led my siblings out onto the black tar. Spending a few minutes jumping about and fully examining the area, our joyful time was cut short when the ground began to shake. The thunderous noise grew louder, we were frozen with fear as a shape appeared on the horizon; heading straight for us. I managed to run back into the grass, my eyes glazed with fear as I yowled as loud as I could for my siblings to follow, yet they didn't move. The shape grew larger and several beeps came from it as it rolled forward. Right as it went to slam into my siblings; my mother shot through the trees and launched herself onto the tar; ramming my sister out of the way as a sicking crunch echoed across the open ground. My sister landed near me, licking frantically at a large cut on her side; but when I turned back towards the thunderpath... My mother lay sprawled across the ground, the dark shape of my brother pressed up against her back. T-they were both d-dead because of me. I-I can't remember how long I stayed there, pleading d-desperately for them to wake up; but they n-never did." Kestrelfire scrunched up his face to stop his tears, "so I ran. I ran as far as I could, hoping the horrific image that was burned into my head would eventually fade to nothing. I'm not sure how far or how long I ran but all I remember was everything going black and I woke up on something soft, a calming voice who's words I couldn't make out rung in my ears. I had somehow been found by twolegs and they took me in, I was about... five moons old. I had to have lived with them for at least three or four moons before I left, I knew the redemption I sought for what I had done wouldn't be found there. I spend only a small amount of time on my own before a patrol found me before leafbare." As he finished, Kestrelfire noticed that his claws had dung deep grooves into the dirt and he quickly sheathed them.
