instantly the senior perks up. though still tired with eyes sore from the strange lighting, brooks looks at the girl with a wide and excited smile. oh, the many question he can ask! ..but which should he ask, and which are too personal? not that he really cares about that, since he is known for being the most laid-back person at the school. as shallow as it sounds, the situation is even better with someone cute, and though others may not point it out, charlie is definitely that. with her blonde hair swaying and eyes darkened, brooks can't help but be happy he's with her. eh, what can you do? he's a guy. but her appearance isn't charlie's only cute side. brooks can see the way she is slowly, but surely, becoming more comfortable around him. it's only been a matter of minutes since they properly met, but most people only take but seconds to warm up to him. the fact that charlie's warming up process is done in baby stepped and brilliantly displayed is another already adorable thing about her. taking in her features for maybe another second or two, the brunette relaxes, legs crossed in a loose indian style and arms just.. everywhere. "okay.." he decides to ask one of the most basic questions. "why did you move here?"

Charlie opened up her sketchbook as he contemplated his questions, seeing one of her drawing the moon and the sun, a sort of mixture between the two, and pulled out a pastel yellow colored pencil as she waited. This was the one thing she loved, being able to shut the world out and lose herself in something as simple as the trace of a colored pencil. She had to be careful, she knew that, that she couldn't get hurt by another guy. But was this some sort of test that life had given her, to see if she was ready yet? Charlie had to give Brooks some credit though, most kids in this school had just cared about their social status, and talking to the new girl was defiantly not high on their radar. He was sweet, she had to admit, that he actually wanted to come and sit with her in a dark corner for the morning when he so obviously could go and do something much more worth his time. His question broke her reverie, the question of..why she moved here. Charlie was quiet, not answering the question for 5 or 7 long minutes. She didn't want to answer it, every time she said the word 'mom' her voice choked up and she bit her lip so hard she drew blood. But, for some reason, she felt like her mom she be respected, and as well as her attendance here. "My mom passed away. Incurable, unable to postpone cancer. Spread to her brain, and she passed away 2 months ago. My father left me before I was born. Now I'm here, my only relatives left are his sided grandparents." she didn't say anything after that, not making eye contact with him, focusing on her drawing so she didn't do anything she may have regret.

he watches as she draws, pursed lips. it wasn't the answer he had anticipated. usually it's the same old "dad's job" excuse or the "expelled from old school" lie. he also didn't expect charlie to open up so easily, so quickly to him. really, he can't imagine being able to tell someone that. both of his parents are alive, happy, and together, making charlie even more of a mystery to brooks. "that really sucks," though his voice was meant to come out in a whisper, it ended up being a startling normal volume. brooks has never been known to be sensitive towards others' feelings, and is often labeled with 'childish' and 'selfish.' this moment may be the most sympathy you can get out of him, and it will end shortly. "here's another very serious question: why did the chicken cross the road?"

Charlie was glad he didn't press anymore questions on the subject, sighing a bit and looking up at the lightly dimmed ceiling as she plotted the next piece to her drawing. She would never open up to someone like this before, and even now, she wouldn't. For an odd reason, she had just felt like getting that off her chest, a small action of rejection against herself since she had told, but she tried not to dwell on the fact. Her head snapped up as the bell had rung, rolling her eyes and shaking her head. She wasn't going to class, she just was not in the mood, so she held her ground. Charlie giggled again as Brook declined the tension between them, her somewhat decent smile and set of teeth shining in the dull light. Her chocolate brown eyes looked at his own, the color similar, she assumed. "You can leave if you want. It was nice spending the morning with you." she said it as if it was a forever farewell, but she was guessing thats all this spark would end up, dull and never to reach a flame.

a dark eyebrow raises comically. who cares if the bell rang? he always skips class, why would this time be any different? maybe she doesn't know of his reputation yet, though that would be hard considering he is known as the baddest bad boy in the area (lame.) "okay you're new, so i'll let you off this time." brook warns playfully with a hint of a grin. "but i'm brooks harley, and my hobbies include skipping class and eating too much for my body." he leans back completely, arms rested between the wall and his head. closing his eyes, brooks lets out a content sigh. "i think i'll stay right here; i have a lot more questions." his eyes slant open, tired and droopy, to peer at charlie. "you should ask some too, if you have any. i only bite jerks."

Charlie blushed a bit at his comment, he actually didn't want to leave? This has to be some sort of trick, perhaps a bet that his friends had placed on him to get the new girl to do something embarrassing in front of him and make a fool of herself. Even if that wasn't the case, Charlie kept it in the back of her mind. He was acting a lot differently than his reputation really allowed, which was a weird sort of approach to look at it. Wasn't every social aspect and popular claim supposed to always stick to their moral, ego, reputation, that sort of thing? She huffed a breath of air out in annoyance at her questions, but for once she was glad she didn't have to worry about that sort of thing. "Well Brooks Harley, who eats to much and skips class with the good girls, tell me your questions, I'll give you answers, and vice versa." the words rolled off her tongue like honey, her eyelashes battering once more as she continued to draw and waited for his response.

brooks' gaze darted around the theatre, unable to focus clearly in the dark lit room. the dull lights give him an annoying headache, and he has to squint to lessen the lights' glares. as much as he enjoys skipping, this time may be a rare exception. usually he would go some where far from the school, maybe a park or the city. the ladder is his favorite. it's strange for his to stay in school; the closest he has been while skipping was at the diner just down the street. that gives him an idea. "i'd love to ask more questions but i'm so hungry- want to go somewhere?" he could last a couple more hours, but he also didn't eat anything but a protein bar this morning. it's been three hours since he ate the lousy snack. "i know a place."

Charlie didn't mind really sitting here, but she could tell he minded a lot. She wished she could understand why he had a desire to go somewhere, as she was content to staying in one place doing the simplest thing in the world. Charlie was studying his facial expressions every other glance, not letting him see how she was unwrapping him slowly. She could consider the act somewhat abnormal, but she was curious as to why he was interested in her and why he was so determined to keep her entertained or interested in him as well."I don't know..I've never done that before.." she muttered slightly, a little ball of fear growing in her chest as she actually contemplated leaving the school with some guy she just met. Her mother would be mortified if she was alive, seeing Charlie do something reckless and stupid. But in a weird way, she wanted to go.

her good girl act is endearing, or maybe it's not just an act. either way it pleases brooks in some way, but doesn't change his mind. he is itching to escape charlie's spot, uncomfortable just sitting in one spot. he'd rather walk somewhere, or at least have a heated conversation, to distract his urges. when bored he can easily grow childish, or easily become the rebel he is. pouting or drugs comes from brooks being bored. brooks in class is a rare, ugly sight to see. he is pretty high maintenance. without thinking too much about charlie's decision, brooks stands up happily. his slightly curly, a bit too long and barely styled, hair is beginning to fall from it's place. wild hazel eyes, almost black by the lighting, gaze down at the girl. "c'mon, it'll be fun!" the blonde's hesitance makes him smile, dimples growing. a decision forms and he reaches his long hand to the girl. "i'll show you around town."

Charlie went on sketching for a bit longer, starting to detail the texture of the lettering of the quote woven inside the hummingbirds around the sun and the moon, smiling a bit to herself as she got it perfectly how she wanted it. He was studying her as well, it was obvious, as well as comparing himself to her and her to himself. As if she had already answered, he stuck out his hand with a big grin as he waited for her response. She wanted to go, but in another way what if she got caught? Her grades? What was one day going to hurt? What if a teacher saw them? What if his friends were coming, how would she react to that? She groaned a bit to push her thoughts away, considering she only had 2 more years of high school left. Did she always want to live it this way, in a dark theater? With a rush of courage and a spoon of screw it, her hand reached up and grasped his as she got up and smiled playfully. "Alright then, let's go." she said a bit more brightly than she had been speaking, throwing her stuff in her back and slugging it comfortably between her shoudlers.
