She hissed, balling her hands up into fists as she staggered back, dark hair falling infront of her eyes. After a moment she sighed, kneeling down to the ground at Ember's feet, doing her best to hide her face as she felt hard sobs rack against her chest, a warm tear streaming down her face. It was sickening, the dread welling up inside of her, guilt.

Raising a hand in Ben's direction he gestured for silence.Ember stopped and turned around facing her again as she spoke.Watching her pull out the ring and move it towards him he froze his eyes locked on the silver band.The band he had seen so many times before the one he could never forget.Taking a shuddering breath as the cold ring dropped in his hand he dropped his gun his eyes becoming haunted as he stared at the single piece of jewelry.With a breath he trembled his voice thick with uncertainty and hopelessness "What did I do wrong?"he asked softly dropping the ring."Did I fail one of your tests?? Or did you have what you wanted from me and decided to use me as a guinea pig one more time."he asked softly "What was it like watching that snake work its way around my body and sink its fangs into my neck? I bet you got a kick out of that didn't you."he rasped softly

She gritted her teeth, her eyes wavering as she felt the hard sobs rack against her chest, crying. For a moment she held her breath, biting her lip miserably and glancing directly back up at him, stiffening her hiccups and drawing a short huff of frustration. In a haste she quickly ran her hands over her eyes, wiping the tears away as much as she could, feeling the dread heavy as it sunk down to the pit of her stomach. "...I-I didn't...it wasn't... No. The snake was just another test, Ember. We were curious how well you'd react underneath the stress, with the 3-9 while it was still beneath its begining stages...but you didn't react at all. You didn't shift, you didn't transform. You just sat there. You failed...you died," she murmured breathlessly, her voice a mere whisper, feeble. "...And I hadn't cared one bit."

Shay was part of the industry, where they kept shifters and tested them, tortured them))
