This is my first official design as an artist, so I hope you guys like it!

Backstory: Ragnarok and his family lived over genrations in the land of fire and destruction. His gransfather always told him how their ancestors thousands of years ago wandered from the great see and high mountains to a far land, hoping to find it. In that time starvation, dry's and less rain ruled the land, so every creature had to learn to survive or leave their holy land. Once it was full of plants and herbivores excited in huge amounts/herds so the carbevores had enough to hunt and to eat. Als their offspring grew with good conditions and never had to fear death. But the one day a giant burning thing on the sky fell on the mountain near by and suddenly the river didn't bring any water in the valley. Plants died and the herbivores too... Many herds travelled out of the valley to find other places but they didn't find anything where they could live in peace. Everytime they reached such a place other herds attacked them or the food just holds just for a few days. The sun burned down on them and rain was far away... It looks like that not just in the valley but in other places too the water stopped flowing. Ragnaro wasn't born at that time but he always listened to his grandfather with such attention, that he could imagine beeing there. Many generations lived side by side with death and the herd shrunk. Just a few BTD's were alive and kept walking, hoping to find the land - the land with food, water and peace - but it was just a legend, that it excisted and no one really had seen it before but all they could have done is walking.
100 years before Ragnarok was born his ancestors travelled through a place where lava flows over mountains and the ground was black - black from the ashes. Also the hair was heavy and dust flew around that made breathing barely impossible but there was a cave! A chilly and dark cave and what is more important: in there was a underground stream which creates a little lake deeper in the cave. Water! Finally they found water!
The BTD's decided to stay there for a while because there were some small creature they could hunt, herbs (not their favourite food but they heal infections and pain in the body) and some kind of fruit, which they never saw in their life but they taste sweet, very dry but they had much of vitamins and minerals. Also the heat of the vulcanos let the eggs hutch faster than they would do in normal condidtions.
It was a better life then before - not the legendary Dreamland but living able!-
Generations after generations were born there and from time to time the offspring began to create unknown sparkles on their skin. Nobody knew exactly wat it was but it didn't handicapped them so it was ok. When Ragnaroks father was born, he was half as covered with that kind of thing as Ragnarok and after he became an adult he wanted to know what it is and why the skin mutates like that.
His results were that the BTD's breathed the ashes in and it also covered the skin outsides. Their DNA mutated with amount of ashes around them and made them into "living" fire opals. Now they are able to walk longer through great heat and they are also able to stand in lava for a short time. The only thing they can't do anymore is swimming and running very fast. They're able to run and escape enemies but if they do that just for a short time.
Ragnarok loves to hear those stories from his grandfather and after that he always looked at himself and his nearly fullbody covered skin. He's very proud to be one of those BTD's who are survived and lived here und those circumstances. He can't imagine living somewhere else, because this is his home and his legacy.
