Um, I'm Whisky, and I'm currently trying out for doll adopt #27! I'm really hoping I win him so that I can be apart of this community! You all seem like a lovely little bunch. <3 However, I do need some help. I'm having a little trouble understanding the contract between Shadows and Dolls. I mean, are the Dolls dead and the Shadows just kinda float amongst the spirits of a "Doll" realm until two (Or more?) come together and form a contract? I'm sorry. I'm trying really hard to understand this to better understand the concept behind dolls.. I apologize greatly for my noobness. vnv

However, one thing I do find most interesting about their concept is the Shadow's past existence. This is something that will be written about in my form, I've decided. So, why not ask those who have dolls as well!

From what I understand, dolls are literal dolls and shadows are objects that had so much sorrow attached to them that they become a shadow
And then when a shadow finds a suitable doll, they bring form a contract and then bring them to life.

What was your doll's past? What were they previously?
Scarad was prince doll who was owned by a girl who had a bunch of princess dolls and wanted to ship her dolls.
And Sulu was an engagement ring.
Here I'll copy it from my form to help you
History:
Scarad's history actually begins before he was made, it begins when a baby girl was born. Her mom and dad were exceedingly wealthy. Every year, around summer, the small family would go on a vacation to a foreign country, and every year, at Christmas, the little girl's parents would give her a porcelain doll from that country. Each doll was magnificent, with flowing dresses and silky hair, all royalty from those countries which they visited. But there always is a problem which ever young, doll obsessed, princess-to-be girl runs into once during their play time. There is no prince. How can a princess find her true love if their are no princes to fall in love with. So, that summer, when the girl's family went on their yearly vacation to Suadi Arabia, The little girl found the perfect prince. The girl, being rich and spoiled as she was, begged for that one doll, the prince. Her mother, though appalled by the idea of a little girl wanting a male doll, decided to secretly buy the prince doll for her. That Christmas was more wonderful than all the others, because that Christmas, the little girl had found out the magical wonders of "shipping." But the joy didn't last long. Before the next vacation came, the little girl's dad died. It was a horrific event, their house and all their savings burned to the ground, with her dad inside. The girl's mom sold whatever jewelry she could salvage so that she could rent one little apartment. But depression soon got the best of the little girl's mom. She gave her engagement ring to her daughter one day and drove off, she never came back. The girl later got the news that her mom was killed in in accident and she was loaded up and sent to foster care. But she forgot to pack two items, one grief contained engagement ring, and one Arabian prince. The ring turned into Sulu, Sulu made a contract with the doll prince, and the prince became Scarad.
Scarad, alone and homeless came with his shadow to the dollhouse. But, he still seems to emit an air of "princeliness," even though he isn't a prince anymore. And, much to Scarad's annoyance, many people see him as a prince and treat him as royalty nowadays. But Scarad hated being put on that pedestal of perfection. When he cracked his face, Scarad felt like he was betraying his people, they saw him as perfect and always wanted to be him, while in reality he was broken and easily worried. No one is perfect, And Scarad was not an exception. He eventually made a mask a resumed his double life. His commoner friends, however, didn't care about his cracked face. Injuring yourself was a daily occurence for him and they accepted him for who he was.

What was your doll's Shadow's past? What were they previously?

Fleur was formed from a broken hair clip, and is just the decorative bow. In it's past, it was worn religiously by an eleven year old every Sunday to church, and every Wednesday to school, and then for the occasional formal event. Shorty after the girl turned 12, she had a bullying problem at school for her beginning puberty, and amidst the assault, the hair clip was lost forever somewhere around the school.

Rose was formed from a music box adornment, and is a small rose that decorated the outer edges. In it's past, the music box was a family heirloom given to a young woman for her 21st birthday, when her grandmother passed away months before and had given the music box to her mother, and it was then passed to the woman as her mother didn't really have a place for it. Several years went by, and t sat collecting dust on the vanity in her room, only occasionally played. When the woman was in her mid-twenties, she married a nice gentleman, and in the move, a few boxes were left behind. One in particular labeled "Keepsakes" held both the music box and a ball-jointed doll, Dev. It was later taken to a dump by the new owners of the house, after failed attempts to contact the woman and her husband.

When they find a ball jointed doll, they form a contract with this doll, promising to love them and keep them alive, as long as the doll does the same in return. @Hoshi;; Yes! It all makes sense now. I was just a little confused on the doll part is all. For some reason I was thinking Dolls were people who had no love in their life and then a Shadow came along after they died or something and turned them into a Doll, which makes no sense xD Thank y'all for clearing that up! Now that I fully understand their concept, I've fallen even more in love with them <3

@Whiskey;; I know right? Slime is the best. ^^ They designed the doll.
As for LaLa, he prefers male pronouns, but won't bite your head off if you use anything else. He's demiboy. His shadow is genderless, but uses male pronouns.
