"You asked for it. That was fun. Make a mental note Jace, request me to do it without my gloves next time." Finny backed up from Jace, dusting her hands. "Oh, yeah, there goes the grass. You okay? Any internal bleeding?"

"Nope. No. No bleeding. I think." He groaned and slowly staggered to his feet. "Seems to be working. Just need to control it now." He sighed and tried to concentrate, making all kinds of frustrated facial expressions. The heat wave became more visible the hotter it got and the ground grew browner as it spread. "Control..." He whispered. His efforts seemed to be working for a short instance. The heat wave stopped spreading, but it didn't stop growing in intensity.

Finny sheilded her eyes with one hand, seemingly almost completely unfazed by the fact that the air around her was becoming stifling. "Temperature, Jace. Too much hotter, I might get sunburn."

"I'm trying...!" He grumbled, getting increasingly frustrated. "Ow..." He whispered suddenly when he felt a pinch of pain on his arm. Smoke started to rise from the grass in wisp-like plumes, on the verge of sparking flames. The small pinch of pain soon turned into a mild sting and it wasn't just his arm. It was his back and his chest as well. "Come on!" He grumbled and scrunched up his face. The range of the heat wave faltered and shrunk back reluctantly, but it wasn't happening fast enough. It was like the wave was fighting to keep going.

Finny's frown deepened. Rolling down her sleeves, Finny took a deep breath and walked cautiously towards Jace. "Careful, now. Don't burn the grass." She reached out a gloved hand carefully, but quickly drew it back due to the heat.

"It's easier said than done!" Jace snapped and cringed as the stinging got worse. He breathed in deeply, drawing the heat back further, but he still couldn't contain the temperature. It was getting even hotter, making his cheeks a rosy red. "I can't-! Clara, help me, I can't do this!" He yelped, afraid of proceeding any farther in this training session. Jace knelt down, trying to catch his now uneven, and nervous breaths.

Finny stared at Jace and then at Clara, feeling utterly helpless for the first time in her life. Poking her two index fingers together nervously, she began to rock back and forth.

"Oh God..." she muttered. With all of her strength, Clara summoned a downpour. She focused the rain over Jace, trying to cool him down. Clara struggled to remain conscious, shouting, "Is this good enough?"

"Ah, that's cool." Theo's gaze drifted off, memories flooding back. "Are you from around here?"

"Yeah. My mom moved here when she was like..five, or something." Felix scratched his head, thinking.

Finny made a sort of high-pitched whimpering noise and sat down, hugging her knees. She wasn't fond of being powerless.
