So the new BBS dog reminds me a little bit Gandalf and so I tried to cosplay him.
I know that it isn't the best Gandalf cosplay but I'm happy with it ^.^

i've started to realize i don't like the hobbit trilogy all that much now. the hype of it being made and completed and coming out in stores has worn off, i guess now and watching it more relaxed and focusing on things made me think that peter jackson might have been trying to hard; like he was trying to meet the grandeur of the lord of the rings created. botfa did end up feeling like rotk for me, all the armies and touchy moments just made me think of rotk. the first movie of the hobbit tired the lightness of the book, something i think the two other movies lacked.

I agree with this. The Hobbit is a light-hearted children's adventure book, and Peter Jackson tried to make it into a dark, epic trilogy, which was just the wrong feel for the Hobbit. That book did not need 3 movies; it could've been done in 1 movie, and maybe expanded to two.
A lot of things were done well in the Hobbit trilogy-- Smaug and the casting stand out-- but the attempt to make the Hobbit more LotR like, with the dark atmosphere of the second and third movies and the foreshadowing of Sauron, disappointed me.

the foreshading sauron, i think, wasn't needed. we've all seen lotr, we know sauron is the bad guy, no need to directly tell us. the parts where peter jackson and the writers tried to tie in lotr and referencing it was overdone. i wasn't expecting such dark themes and a love story slotted into the trilogy. walked into the theater expecting the themes and gandalf bringing handkerchief. the cast and the creation of smaug were thehighlights. the cast had great chemistry together, that's always a plus. you don't want to make a movie where cast members hating each other.

To me, it feels like PJ tried to overhype the whole thing and turn the Hobbit into something it wasn't, and while Tauriel is a pretty cool character, I have to admit that I wasn't exactly a huge fan of the whole Kíliel thing going on. To me, it was entirely unnecessary and seemed to simply be there for the sake of appealing to the fangirls and creating a needless love triangle to divert attention from the plot.

    -SPOILER ALERT-
Call me a canon-freak or what, but I feel like Tauriel's presence really make Kíli's death scene a lot more anticlimatic and just not Tolkien enough. In the book, Kíli died alongside Fíli protecting the wounded Thorin, and while I do acknowledge and respect that this was changed slightly in the film, Tauriel crying all over him just really cut the feels for me and made me go "really?" Thorin's death was the only one that made me feel something and actually cry over; Fíli's death felt rushed and Kíli's felt stripped of its original meaning, if you know what I mean.
    -END SPOILER-

Don't get me wrong; I love Evangeline Lilly's acting and am really intrigued with the character of Tauriel; I just think she would be a lot more of an interesting character if she were expanded more upon in the movie. While I do acknowledge that she helped move the plot along, at some points it felt as though she only existed to serve as a love triangle device and a source of further conflict between Legolas and Kíli.

    -minor spoiler alert?-
And don't get me started on the whole Legolas's mother thing, goodness. It really shocked me when I heard it being declared outright in the movie; I never thought PJ would take such liberties to that extent, especially when there are absolutely no mentions of her in the books.
    -end spoiler-

Honestly, in the end, I still like the Hobbit movies; the whole thing just felt more like some sort of really professionally-executed fanfiction rather than a book-to-movie adaption of the Hobbit, IMHO.

Edit: Now that I think about it, had the whole thing really just been some huge piece of fanfiction, Tauriel probably would've gotten a lot of flack for being an original female elf OC that never appeared in the books, whom Legolas loves while she was Kíli's lover. It suppose it kind of does feel like the beginning of some fanfiction if you look at it that way. :P

Yes yes yes to all of this
Tauriel couldve been so much more than a love interest, but her character was so undeveloped that that's all she felt like to me
The whole trilogy was just over Hollywood-ized.

I'm guessing that someone who hasn't read the books would like the movies more, maybe...

tauriel is a character that i would like to see get developed more. she could have interacted with bard's girls more. once the Orcs left laketown in the second film at the end, her sole focus was kili. it irked me that she offered so much in dos when she defied thranduil to begin with.
