I think the difference I can see is that there are a lot more curves than straight lines and boxes! I love how you paint the skin as well, reminds me of water colours! :)

http://monotsleigh.deviantart.com/art/t ... -527473861 - the first fox I've drawn, can anyone give me some pointers?? I'm not too sure on the body still..I drew them sitting down because I would have probably drawn them very cat like!

Of course you may use my hands, although I think you'd learn more from photo references. It's all about seeing relation and proportion as you're looking at the references. Here are two good hand tutorials for you: Sycra / Jim Lee

Also, I red-lined your fox. I think it would be good for you to sketch a lot of foxes before adding color to them. Your problem
was in the pose and anatomy. When a fox sits down, all of its weight rests on it's buttocks and back legs, so the spine of the
fox would rather look concave than convex. The front legs deem to keep the fox in balance. The tail rests on the ground,
lifting it would be uncomfortable for the fox. See the paintover here.

Cool thank you, I just wanted to do a quick drawing of something that wasn't a cat, but it was basically a cat with a long snout and ears!! :) oh OK, they seem to (slouch) more than a cat would thank you for all the information's! :) so I still ended up drawing it very cat like!!

I have a question for you all!
What media do you use comfortably and which are your favorite?

Pencils and digital....I think lines I am better on digital now...but I'm still better at blending my colours on traditional art than digital! I have some oil pastel and soft pastels as well!

I'm definetely better with traditional compared to digital, but I mainly focus on digital.

I like to sketch traditionally and draw/paint digitally (photoshop). I wish I
could paint with watercolours etc traditionally, but it's definitely a struggle.

I work with a drafting pencil - that's my favorite. A drafting pencil, a kneaded eraser, and some nice paper, and I'm happy. ^^ I could just sit and draw for hours.

I also work in digital with a mouse pretty comfortably. I also really enjoy charcoal and hard pastels, though I haven't been working with them lately. They're so much fun though! I tend to get a bit overenthusiastic and wind up covered in the stuff. XD I dabble with oil paint as well, mostly just in class. While I like working with oil more then acrylic or watercolor, I don't like the set up, clean up, and general expense (I'm horrible at mixing colors). So outside of class, I rarely do it. Drawing is much easier to just pick up and do on the fly. ^^

Digital, specifically Adobe Illustrator. If I want to do pixel art I use Paint.net.

I am absolutely awful at any traditional methods and lousy at anything that requires me to draw with a mouse. I've never owned a tablet and my limited experience with them has been that I am the absolute worst with the dang things.

We are so stressed to finish these up in the next day LOL
Your photo study is gorgeous, I love the colors and the texture <3
Your chibis are cute too!, especially the second piece which seems to have a similar warmness and texture as your photo study!
A critique for the first chibi piece would be to work on the interaction of figure and environment
Right now the figures don't have much weight (HAHA CAUSE LINES RIGHT?)
So they look like they're just floating on the grass
You can probably anchor them with shadows or variation in line weight C:

Thank you, that is something I need to work on x3 My sister is always saying that characters seem to be floating in my pictures. Maybe it's because I've spent so much time drawing either backgrounds, or characters floating in transparent space? I haven't worked out the kinks of characters /in/ backgrounds. Anyways, I'll work more on shadows and such. Thank you for the input!

I'm most comfortable working in digital with my tablet, usually in Paint Tool Sai. I also have a lot of fun playing with watercolor, and I started with acrylics recently. I'm too lazy to do too much with acrylics though, there's too much preparation needed. (also my palette needs to be cleaned, and I've yet to do that.)

I love watercolor because I've always been a fan of the style, and it's pretty much no-mess. I paint watercolor on my bed all the time and have never gotten any paint on anything other than the paper. Helps that I have these paint brushes where you can put water or ink in the handle and it drips down into the bristle part. It's awesome.

annnd uh... pencil, pen and paper is always a classic. I'm not super good at traditional though. It's just a lot of fun to play with, so... I do xD I'm not really good at doing any serious work with it.

@FiveSecondsTo Fly
As it is your drawing looks pretty flat. I would really suggest trying to draw in the legs, even if they are mostly obscured. You should also define the top of the muzzle, not just one side of it. and maybe use some partial lines or shading to show that the ears are set back on the head.

--------------

Sooo.... anyone know how to draw bird feet? Because I sure don't!

Believe it or not I found this little guy in two stray bits of hair and the pattern of my bathroom floor tiles. Other than the horrible legs and repositioning his nostril, he is completely traced from that. :what: I think it's a Pengwi, Penguin + Kiwi.
