Do you use chrome?
If so, I had a similar problem.
Chrome updated it's way of supporting browsers like Java. This may be your problem. It's very easy to fix.

Alright, Windows 8 users, I think I found something for you guys. ^^; And I hope it works!

Windows Help Thread wrote:This is a known issue with java, Win8 and Kaspersky. We are working on an automated fix, but for now please try this workaround:
Open Kaspersky 2013
Click on Settings
Click on Application control
Click on Applications
Look for Oracle America (this is the java and it should be trusted already)
Open each item in that folder using double click
Under the tab Exclusions check all 5 checkbox and click OK

Windows Help Thread wrote:Method 1: disable proxy settings
a. Start Internet Explorer.
b. Click Internet Options on the Tools menu.
Note: If the Tools menu is not displayed, press ALT to display the Tools menu.
c. Click the Connection tab, and then click on LAN settings.
d. Uncheck the “Use a proxy server for your LAN check box”.
e. Select and check "Automatically detect settings" under "Automatic Configuration"
f. After above step try opening website and check if the issue persists.

You can also try to change Java's settings as per usual, however, please note:
Same place as the last two quotes wrote:I have Windows 8 and installed the latest version, Jre7 update 40. I tried full download, no connection, firewall and defender off etc. but to no avail. Then I spotted in one thread that the java console does not save security settings unless run as admin, even if the user is an admin account.

Also it said the latest version needs the lowest security setting. So I ran as admin, pulled the slider to the bottom, and it WORKED!!!

I also noticed that there was something about the 32/64 bit versions messing with things when they aren't being used accordingly (but can't find it now, silly Google), so please check to make sure your OS and Java are using the same version. ^^;

For those of you suffering from Java not working on Chrome, please read this:
https://java.com/en/download/faq/chrome.xml

And see here for a solution:
https://java.com/en/download/faq/chrome.xml#npapichrome

if you find your pen pressure is gone then reinstall JTablet and relaunch your browser after.

My pen pressure doesn't work, and every time I draw a line, it stops and then only makes HALF of the line I made. If I try to make multiple lines and not wait until it actually loads, then most wont even be visible. It's annoying. I installed Jtablet a few months ago, it didn't work. I reinstalled it, still doesn't work. And yes I did relaunch my browser. I use Chrome.

yikes im still looking for a solution but it looks like the only reason why the update doesn't work with windows 8 is because of chrome ??
idk still, i did read through the java article before my initial post and it looks like it's telling me to let chrome run by accepting a notification that will show up on the top of my chrome browser but it hasn't popped up
the last time java updated the security rate was the problem where i needed to turn the slider down but there isn't any slider and the lowest option is high
      Image
i messed around with the exception list and that doesn't work either
i made sure that the java plug in was enabled too but still no avail

im sorry for posting in this thread so much but ive tried everything i can on my own and nothing is working?? i have a mac and have tried safari and fire fox but in both browsers when i open the oekaki everything loads but when i get a jtablet pop up screen the oekaki freezes. ive installed and uninstalled java and jtablet over and over and it doesnt change anything. i currently have jtablet uninstalled and the pop up still shows up, freezing the oekaki. also, i updated java and now safari doesnt register that i have it installed. does anyone have any kind of ideas on what i could try to do to fix any of these problems?
edit: i reinstalled jtablet again and nothing has changed. i tried closing out of other programs that were running in the background, thinking that would help, but it didn't and im all out of ideas.
edit again: i swithced back to java 7 and im still having the same problem.

Did you try clearing your cache after the reinstall?

Yeah, Chrome is causing issues. It's not your security settings, though.

This is really weird and I wished I could help more but I can't recreate Mac errors due to lacking the OS. I assume that when you uninstall JTablet some files remain on your computer which cause some issues. I assume you navigated to your Library/Java/Extensions and deleted the two JTablet files? Because sometimes the files don't delete properly and they get stuck in your trash bin, which keeps it on your computer.
