I think gift lines would be the best option and probably the best idea would be to make the gift lines on public access but to elect a moderator for that thread to make sure not just anyone starts designing equids and that way Horsy doesn't have to add everyone with a WME

The issue I see with this is that it would take a lot more time and energy imo than if horsy were to do giftlines and have someone post it/add people for her as she is very busy. Having to constantly monitor a public gift line for people making fake equids (you would have to take the time to dig to make sure its a real equid for example) and then possibly having to get CS moderators involved to get things removed when they happen just seems like a lot more work to me than just adding people to a closed gift line that would have people who only own equids joining it, if all that makes sense?

There could be an official form that you post so like you have to link your Equid to it? And there name/owner etc?

If it's not the Wme Official Lineart used presently or the one that was just retired, it's artwork and does not belong on the WME Fanclub.

I voted for Only if they are NOT put into the adult lineart only to have the person have the choice of using the foal lines, knowing they won't be on adult lines-

so say you got a breeding- part of your form could ask for the foal lines. But that is acknowledging that your foal will be on the foal lines forever. Or, you can choose the adult lines.

I personally love foal line arts as thats how I got my first WME Zaria. Horsy made a WME foal lineart and hose s few people to get custom WME's. (custom being she designed and you had first dibs)

Without reading everyone elses comments, i was all for the idea, just based on 'oh gosh that would look so adorable!', but reading through everyone elses opinions, concerns and worries, i've changed my mind. Its a large hassle for artists to go through to do the same design twice, and some designs are just so challenging, i wouldn't want to have to do it. ^^ But, i really like this here; having it be a choice in whether or not they are done on the foal lines or adult lines.

If this were to happen, it would also help for those people who look through the equids for breeding slots; saying that a forever foal usually doesn't breed for a really long time, or if ever at all, so people wouldn't send them a message asking for a solt from one of them. ^^

In short; i like Birch's idea here of the lines being optional, rather than gift lines. ^^

I voted yes for this, thank you Shame for bringing it up.
I always wait 3 months before my foals can breed, so having a foal ref I feel might cut down on offers for slots, for quids not old enough to breed in their owners minds. (I hate saying no to people, and get asked often for a quid I'm not ready to breed, even when their slots say closed.)

But I don't like the idea of transfers. I do however love the idea of semi-official foal lines done by Horsy, that we can color, I would definitely use them for the foals who aren't old enough to breed yet.

As one of the primary breeding artists, I vote a resounding NO for official foal lines that would require the artist to redraw the same design on foal and adult lines. This would double the amount of time it takes for me to complete a breeding, and that feels unnecessary. I am slow enough only doing one design per person, I'm afraid.

Additionally, I don't support the idea of users being able to choose having a foal created on a set of foal lines instead of adult lines only. This is mainly because I know that there will be folks down the line who decided that actually they do want their equid on the adult lines, and dealing with that situation will either result in an artist caving in and transferring the design or a user becoming unhappy that they cannot have the design changed.

As before, when the discussion came of transfers from the original lines to the new version, I am still unwilling to have other artists transfer the designs I have created onto other official lines. This goes for official transfers to a foal lineart in our new discussion now.

Alternatively, I have no problem with a set of official foal gift lines that users may color in for themselves or for others - no different from any other gift lines except that they will have been created by Horsy and reflect the species creator's idea of how equid foals appear. I think it would be fun to have some foal art that everyone can use!

While having official foal lines would be adorable, I agree that it would just take too much time for the artists.
if you want to see your equid as a foal, just draw them? There are a few foal giftlines made.
I bought some from Sirena and now that my computer is back I can continue to offer free color ins for people. (example here)

That is basically what people would have to post for a private thing lol I don't see what would be stopping someone from just using a public one, people don't care about rules like that. I mean, what is to stop them from just going and igoring the posting a link etc. and designing their own equids if the picture is open? Nothing really, and that would then drag in the mods on CS and have to have someone sitting there checking over all the equids (because realistically no one is going to sit there and link to every single one of their equids when they want to draw, I mean I have like 30 almost, I'm not going to do that XD). It would honestly just be easier if the gift lines are made private and have someone who has the time/is willing to add people post it so that it wouldn't be a bother to horsy. It would keep people who don't have equids from just going and using it, and it honestly takes only like 30 seconds to add someone to a thing, vs. someone having to spend the time sifting through equid pictures to make sure its a legit equid, if that makes sense?

I think there should be Gift foal lines, Kind of like what .Ghost. did a while back. It would be really nice for people to have a choice to transfer to foal gift lines themselves. Like make the lines on the WME adoption thread and people who own equids have to post and ask to be added to the list. And then people can make small line edits like curly manes and little bows if they wanted possibly.
