It started to rain, hard. Peridot looked outside for a moment. She smiled, happy to have shelter, then curled up again. The gems exchanged looks, then looked back at Peridot. "Rose would be so..." Pearl began. Amber saw where this was going. She smiled. "Angry! Where do I begin? You brought home an enemy!" Snarled Pearl. Amethyst shoved her. "Just stop! Amber did something good for once! Can't you accept that? We don't know for sure if we can trust Peridot, but please, Pearl! This isn't like you." Snarled the shorter gem. Steven and Amber had never heard her say anything like this. Amber felt like there was a rock in her stomach. Had she done wrong the whole time, or were the gems proud of her? Amber was furious at Pearl. Everyone was quiet. Pearl stammered a bit, but gave up. "That's what I thought." Snorted Amethyst. "Excuse me?" Pearl finally said. "Stop it, you two. Look." Garnet whispered. The gems looked at Peridot. She had fallen asleep. To Steven's surprise, she was a quiet sleeper. "I guess we should leave. Come on, Steven, let's go to the Big Donut. I think it's open now." Amber begged. Steven nodded, grabbed two umbrellas, and they walked out the door into the rain.

And by the way, I kind of imagine the crystal gems as types of moms like..
Pearl would be that mom who would hire her high-school friends to stalk all your media. (No offense to her.)
Garnet would be that one mom who is wise, like got a homework question? Solve it indirectly. (Like in the pilot.)
And Ameythyst would be the one whos relatable, like a friend instead of a Mom, almost.
