[Somewhere Cold]

This takes place seven leaderships after Firestar. The other side of the Thunderpath has been made into another Twolegplace and more twolegs started to pour in around the lake. The Clans had to mover further up into the hills. ThunderClan still inhabits forest, though it is more dense than the ones before. ShadowClan lives in a pine-marsh like the original territories. WindClan found rocky cliffs to live one, much like the mountains but more shrubby. RiverClan lives past ThunderClan territory, by a lush river.

The new Moonpool is the Startree. It's a silver willow that glows in the moonlight and is connected to StarClan. The new gathering place is an island in the RiverClan river.

A cold wind blew through the black branches, rattling them. The moon, barely a claw scratch in the sky, cast a faint light down on the clearing below. All was quiet, until a faint rustle in the bushes broke the silence. The bracken came alive with sound and a large tomcat strode in. He was majestic in his stride and his long black pelt gleamed in the faint moonlight. He was followed by three more cats. One, a lithe ginger tabby, walked up next to the black tom and sat down. "You are sure that the time is right, Swiftriver?"

The black tom laughed, "My dear Cherryheart, I have never been more sure in life or death."

Anoter cat, this one a mottled gray tom, sat down too. "You're far to full of yourself, my old friend." He looked around with piercing blue eyes, as if searching for something. "Where is Dawnstar? I told her to meet us at moonhigh!" He stood up and shook his ruffled pelt before tasting the air.

As if made of shadow, a beautiful cream tabby slipped into the hollow. "At peace," she meowed in a rippling voice, "I said I'd be here, and here I am." She sat down on the other side of Swiftriver and began to groom her long pelt. Turning her emerald eyes to him, she whispered, "Are you going to speak?"

Swiftriver nodded and walked a little ways away. Where he stepped, stars glittered the ground. In fact, all four of the cats had glittering pelts. The stars seemed to melt into the ground, turning the grass to water. The water froze over, leaving a sheet silver ice. The powerful tom looked to his companions. "I brought you here to give you a choice. Something is coming that will affect all of the Clans." his yellow gaze sept over the cats. There were more than four now. The whole hollow had been filled with starry cats, leaning forward to listen.

Dawnstar stepped up to the ice. "If you don't mind, I would like to go first," she said to Swiftriver, gladly taking his nod as a yes, "Then, I give you the Black Clouds." Storm clouds filled the sheet of ice, as if mirroring the sky. Though, the skys were clear. She looked around at the cats. "You all know the prophecy: Silver Trees, Black Clouds, the Full Moon, and Autumn leaves. A she and a tom, decended from the Great Four, will join together to face the darkest of nights. Well, I give you my black clouds!" Two cat shapes appeared in the ice, almost identicle. Matching gray eyes peered out.

Gasps came up from the crowds. A grizzled black she-cat stepped forth, blue eyes blazing. "Yes, my grandchildren are good cantidates, but are they ready? Their ceremony was only a moon ago." Dawnstar stalked up to her until they were nose-to-nose. "I understand your concerns, Shadowheart, but I've made my decision." The grizzled old she-cat gave a barely perceptable nod and stepped back into the crowd of cats. Dawnstar looked up at Swiftriver and twitched her ears for him to come forward.

"Thank you, Dawnstar," he meowed in a deep gravelly voice. His long furred tail swept the grass as he padded up to the smooth sheet of ice. "It is high time for me to choose the fate of my grandchildren. They will represent the Silver Trees." Two silver tabby shapes appeared on the ice. Intelligent eyes looked out from a grove of waving willow trees, silver in the moonlight.

The collective gasps were a little quieter this time. A few jeers arose from the cats around Swiftriver. "You were always a hippocrite, Swiftriver!" one called. Another, a pretty tabby with white brindle markings, stepped forth. Her amber eyes blazed with anger towards the black tom. "You were meant to choose cats that are worthy, not your kin. That is selfish of you!" Swiftriver regarded her with a calm, somewhat irked expression. "Kestrelwing, I do not choose this on account that they are related to me. I believe, and so do my comrades, that these cats are well deserving of a responsibility such as this." He nodded, beckoning the old gray leader forward. "Lynxstar, it is your time to choose."
