Sixteen year old Lulu Collins is losing her mind- or she thinks she is. Her world is falling apart, piece by piece. Can she keep control?

It all happened so quickly, like a dream, fading as you wake up. Nobody sees the things I do. People die for no reasons. Mom says it's nothing, that Nana didn't die, but I saw. Losing your mind is normal, but this is different. Would people ignore certain deaths? That Pa wouldn't have got taken away? I saw that too. God wanted me to be different, and I got teased. Stupid Sarah Sanders. In my time, happiness is forgotton. Even Miles,, my best friend, lost me. How can you be normal when your world is falling apart?
It all started in Gym. Coach Sanders, Sarah's dad, blew the whistle. The mile run started. I couldn't even run a quarter mile. I had a bad grade in Gym. Mom scolded me, and Jamee just played her guitar. See, everyone loves Jamee. Sweet, responsible, kind. Mom always tells be to be more like her, but I can't change me for someone else. Ever.
Running was always hard. That 'lump' in my throat grew bigger and bigger. I saw myself falling in the street, being run over by a car. My first vision. I was scared like a butterfly of a flyswatter. Coach Sanders didn't believe me. He said, "Keep trekkin' on. Get a good grade for once." I was fed up with him. Let's just say after what happened, I earned myself a ticket home and a 2 day suspension.
"Lulu, what's up?" Mom yelled at me when we got home. "What happened? I did a fine job, and you come to tell me a suspension?" I looked at my feet. I could hear Jamee laughing in her room. I looked at me Mom straight in the eye and glared. Mom gasped. "Go to your room." That was the last thing I heard Mom say before the accident.

Lights flashing. Me screaming. Paramedics calling. Those are the first 3 things I hear after the incident. Apparently, this guy was a shooter in town. He was gonna try to shoot a bowl in the distance of our house, but instead he struck my mom. I didn't have a vision about this. I heard police took the guy into court and was pleaded guilty. I guess the police are bad in my town, because why had they not caught him before?
I gasped for breath. My mom was dying. The bullet was just below her eyebrow, almost in the eye. I winced at the thought. "Jamee!" I screamed. I guess Jamee was out and about, because at 7 in the freaking night, she felt the need to go with her friends. "Step back, little girl," a paramedic told me. "Help my mom! Please help!" I screamed. The cops had now came in my house, in the dining room. A person was writing down in a notepad. Who would be writing at a time like this?
The people didn't need to take her into the hospital. Only to get the bullet out. I rode in the car with the doctors. After I had walked in, sat down in the waiting room for a half an hour, Jamee burst in the door. "Mom!" she shrieked. "You did this!" she turned around at me. "You had to yell at her! You had to make her last words, 'Go to your room.'?" Jamee was yelling now. The receptionist was trying to calm her down, but her voice was getting louder and louder.
I sat there, waiting for the people to tell me my mom was okay, I'd be able to hug and kiss her again. The doctors came out, a intermediate expression on their faces. "Come in," they said. I walked in slowly, taking in a breath. Mom was laying down, her eyes half-open. "Sweetie," she croaked to me. I ran to her. "Mom, I'm so sorry," I cried softly. She smiled and took me in for a hug. "It is never your fault," she whispered.

Mom is okay, I guess. She now wears an eye patch, so she's always saying, "Arrr, matey!" to cheer me up. Most of my days consist of feeling really depressed. Once I even tried to hold my breath for a super long time so I could suffocate. Didn't work out. I mostly draw skulls with crossbones on my paper. This is my new world.
"Lulu Camilla Collins, get your sorry butt here now!" Jamee yelled. I walked slowly down the stairs, with a frown on my face. "What?" I asked, moody. Jamee's face was super red. 'What did you do to my computer?" she screamed. "I just downloaded a virus so your keyboard, webcam and audio, and mouse doesn't work," I said in a straight tone. Carelessly, I flipped her Mackbook Pro on the hardwood floor. "Dad is gonna be so mad!" she shouts. "Dad isn't here." I say with a voice that tells her I don't care.
She makes a sound. "Lulu, I swear to-" Just then, Jamee shut up. "I'll get you. Jake is calling, so get out you brat," she says and I leave, not caring if I destroyed a expensive computer or not.

I wasn't getting any better. Mom's eye was getting worse, Jamee had to save up for a new computer, and I failed Gym Class. Ms. Johnson, our principal, told me I had to run. I refused, and she made me walk around the school. Instead, I ran home.
Mom looked at me, confused. "Lulu, honey, it's one thirty. You should be at school," she said. I shrugged. "Jamee's here, why can't I be?" I asked. Mom put on her worried face. "Are you okay?" she asked. I nodded heavily. She closed her eye. "Lulu, why did you break Jamee's computer?"
I shrugged again. "Are you mad at her?" Mom asked again. I sighed a sigh. "Mom, can't you see? Jamee hates me!" I said in a louder voice. Mom sighed a sigh, too. "Sweetie, she doesn't." she reasoned. "You never had siblings, you don't know what it feels like." I said softer and ran to my room.

I was getting worse. I became a monster. The stars twinkled like lanterns in the sky. I sat up and looked at my phone. Turning it on, I blinked at the bright light. An e-mail popped up, so I tapped the app. There was an e-mail from Stanford University. Confused, I looked at the e-mail.
Standford wants YOU to enroll in our 2017 Fall Semester! Opportunity ends June 1st.
I blinked slightly. College already? "Mom!" I shouted. "College e-mail me from across the country!" I walked to her room and turned the light on. "M-mom?" I cocked my head. I looked at her. Her skin was pale and I saw her chest wasn't moving up and down.
I shifted my weight uneasily. She woke up, startled. "Lulu, sweetie! Are you okay? I was just holding my breath, don't worry." She patted me on the back. "Okay, mom," I said and showed her my phone. "Look, college," I said. She gasped. "California? That's all the way across the country! Stay in New York!" she insisted. I sighed. "Two years mom, all I need is two years."
