"Of course, Payton will enjoy some company other than me." Carter chuckled. "As for you Opal, I hope to see you around." Riptide sat down heavily, starting to whine. Carter looked down at his furry companion and rubbed a soft ear.

"Land, where to begin? There's movies, restaurants, malls, parks, I could go on forever." Payton chuckled. "Anything specific you're wanting to know?"

Marie smiled. "Thank you Carter." Marie said and looked at Opal. "See you later Opal."

Kyler smiled. "I want to know about humans. Are you friends with any of them? Do they know what you are?"

Hearing his question, Lola gave a small laugh and nodded her head. "Mhm! They are like human houses, but they are somewhat different. They are made out of different materials, so they could be underwater." She responded, not seeming to mind the many questions. In fact, she had a few questions for the human. Reaching forward, she grabbed her bottle of soda and took a sip of it. "I remember you mentioning movies earlier. What is a movie?" She inquired, her blue eyes filling with curiosity.

Hearing someone say his name, Thomas tilted his head and peered up at Larkai. "Hang out? Sure, I don't mind." He responded, flashing a smile. He noticed that she looked sad and scared, so he had decided to give her a smile to ease her worries. "Ah, how's your arm from earlier?" He questioned, lifting an eyebrow. It was her arm, right? He added in his thoughts, but he did not ask.

Walking onto the dock, Daniel held onto the lantern between his hands. He noticed that others were releasing their lanterns, so he quickly moved to reach them. He stretched his arms out and released his lantern into the sky. A grin formed on his lips, his brown eyes following his lantern until he could no longer tell it apart from the other lanterns.

Jason nodded slowly as Lola answered his question, finding the concept a bit strange. Of course, if people could build on land then of course merfolk could do similar below the water. Nonetheless, he was interested in this sort of village, and was curious as to what it looked like, but at the same time accepted the fact that he'd probably never be able to see it. He wasn't even supposed to know about it, so he didn't want to get Lola into trouble. An odd smile crossed his face as she questioned about movies. It hadn't occurred to him how much she was probably unaware of human culture. "Movies are like...stories." He began, trying to figure out how to explain it. "People act it out and they record it, so other people can watch it later." Jay lifted his shoulders slightly, unsure whether or not that would make any sense to her. "I could show you sometime."

"Alright. Well, I'll see ya around. I'm here almost all the time, so you know where to find me." I smile as we part. I wave back, take my surfboard, and head for my apartment only 2 blocks away. I walk home and close the door. two real friends I think and jump into bed, exhausted.

"No problem. Let me call Pay and see where she is." With that, Carter pulled out his iPhone six and dialed Payton's number.

"Nobody knows what I am, not even my best friend Carter. But they're not bad, just depends on their attitude." Payton said. "I'm more of a tom-" Payton was cut off by her phone ringing on the beach. "Crap, hold on. She swam quickly to the shore, forcing her tail to transform into legs, still wearing her board shorts.

Larkai smiled brightly, relieved. "Cool! Oh, my hand is okay" she said revealing the perfectly fine skin. She had healed from the water.
