Batpaw || try-out

Postby voittoisa » Thu Mar 26, 2015 10:14 am

Apprentice Name: Batpaw (Batswipe)

Gender: Male

Personality: Batpaw is a weird one, that's for sure. He is as quiet as a mouse and likes to keep to himself. The apprentice is able to keep secrets well and doesn't speak much about himself to cats he doesn't associate with. When he speaks, his tone is cold and insensitive. Batpaw has no regards for any-cat besides himself. Selfish is a word that comes to mind. If he had to choose between bringing his clan prey during leaf-bare or eating it on his own, he'd choose the latter.

The Dark Forest apprentice has trouble talking. Batpaw has a stutter to keep it simple. He also tends to never catch any-cat's eyes when he is talking with them, unless he is defending himself or arguing. The male doesn't get scared often, but when his life is threatened, well he sure as hell will be putting other cats at risk to keep himself safe. Batpaw gets jealous really easily too, so watch out!
Image
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Batpaw glared at his younger sibling Morningkit as his mother, Squirrelfeather, cooed at her. An almost-silent scoff left his small form under a darkly colored bush. Ever since the little cream kit was born, he's had nothing but trouble. Morningkit has been pulling out his fur; literally. On occasion, she would clamber over him like a flee, laughing as if mocking his annoyance while their mother watched from the nursery with a grin. As if it pleasured her to watch. Frankly, it didn't pleasure Batpaw; it was quite the opposite, really.

"Look at her, with her smug smile. It's like she knows her existance is a burden," Batpaw hissed to no one in particular. Today, Starclan has granted the clan with a particularly hot day. The nature above his head did almost no good in an attempt to reduce the heat. He laid there, bathing in the warmth and his own jealousy.

"Batpaw? Do you think it's too hot to go training?" asked a large brown warrior with black stripes. He practically towered over Batpaw, appearing bigger than he was due to his long coat.

The apprentice's gaze turned from the warrior to his mother Squirrelfeather. A grimace made it's way onto his face and he nodded. "I can handle it, Hawkcry. Let's go," he replied brusquely before standing to his paws and crawling out of his make-shift shelter. He glanced at his mentor's fur and figured the day's training wouldn't take long. As athletic as Hawkcry was, Batpaw knew that coat would be a heated burden below this harsh day's sun.

"Are we going to be hunting or battle training?" Batpaw asked with little interest. To be quite honest, either way, they'd be heading back to camp before you could say "mouse-dung". Hawkcry replied with a small hum. Strangely, Batpaw understood what he meant.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hawkcry began panting a lot sooner than Batpaw had expected. He glanced at his mentor as he crouched, getting ready to pounce at him. The apprentice himself was exhausted already. Luckily, the warrior decided to head back to camp before Batpaw could say anything. The two quickly padded to camp, Batpaw veering away from his mentor as his mentor only veered closer. As soon as the pair walked into camp, Batpaw spotted Stormshiver, his father figure. Batpaw's actual father had died not too long ago from whitecough. Stormshiver was merely an uncle. With sharp claws and an equally-sharp tongue, the dark tabby was the clan's fiercest warrior. It wasn't a mystery where Batpaw got his attitude.

Batpaw dipped his head in greeting and stifled a purr. "Good afternoon, Stormshiver." As always, his gaze was directed towards the ground. Stormshiver's head turned at the sound of his name and looked down at his nephew. He nodded back before bounding out the camp entrance. Batpaw huffed softly and pouted for a moment before something popped into his mind. He was suppose to be meeting "her" by the border!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Batpaw's head swivled around, looking for the cat he was suppose to meet by the border. The cat he was suppose to be meeting was from another clan that rivaled his own. He had made a deal with their clan, getting information on his leader's health. Yes, he planned to kill Moonstar in hopes that his mother would love him more than Morningkit. Obviously, there could be no way he'd kill her on his own. That's where Thunderstrike comes into play.

"Hey - Batpaw! That's you, right?" called a feminine voice. Batpaw quickly turned his head in the direction of the voice. A light brown she-cat with a white underbelly was seen on the other side of Dawnclan's border.

"Who else would it be?" he replied with a snort and padded towards the cat. His whiskers twitched with anticipation as he got closer and closer to Thunderstrike. Everyday he talked to her, and everyday he got closer to his goal.

"There is no need to be so rude, Batpaw. Afterall, we are helping you-"

Batpaw cut her off with a short response,"Only because you want to weaken our clan. I know your meaning behind helping me, and honestly, I don't care. So long as you actually help me," he started. "Now, to get to the point, Moonstar is on her last few lives. To be quite fair, she can get rid of most of them herself, but on her last life, she'll be more careful. Which is why we - correction, I - need to get rid her."

Thunderstrike let a fake look of hurt flash across her face before smirking. "Ouch. Your words wound me, Batpaw. But how will you "get rid of her" without our help?"

Batpaw was silent for a moment and turned his head away from the she-cat. He let out a sigh of defeat and glared at Thunderstrike. "Alright, fine. What do we do now?"

The she-cat grinned. "We'll attack the clan. In the heat of battle, you and me will go for Moonstar. She will be so shocked that one of her own apprentices are against her, she wont notice me. I will inform my leader, and be prepared. We're doing it now."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Morningkit tilted her head, her ear flopped to the right. "Big Brother? Who were you talking to?"

Batpaw jumped slightly, obviously startled by the sudden voice. Thunderstrike had already vanished, gone to tell her leader they were going to attack now. He wiped his head around, only to see Morningkit. A sneer made it's way onto his face before he cleared his throat. "It was only a loner. I scared them off our territory."

"But, you called them Thrunderstrike-"

"Morningkit, listen to me. They were nobody. Don't speak of this again. Now get back to camp," he hissed before pushing her with his tail. She let out a small hmph and marched back to camp with Batpaw in tow. As soon as Morningkit was inside the camp, Batpaw went back into the forest and waited at the designated spot he was suppose to meet Thunderstrike and her group.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Squirrelfeather! Squirrelfeather! Guess what I saw!" the small Morningkit boasted and ran up to her mother. Her pale ginger mother turned around to see her kit. A sigh of relief left the queen.

"There you are! I was wondering where you went off to! I was worried sick!" Squirrelfeather started to ramble about how she shouldn't run off again or leave her sight. Morningkit rolled her eyes and continued.

"I saw Batpaw talking to a loner. At least, he said they were a loner. He called her Thunderstrike and, and-" Morningkit stumbled over her words, but Squirrelfeather understood. She knew who Thunderstrike was. To keep it short, Squirrelfeather and Thunderstrike were not on good terms.

"I will go tell Moonstar immediately!" and with that, the pale cat trotted towards Moonstar's den.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A large group of cats padded towards Dawnclan camp. Batpaw and Thunderstrike were at the lead of the group, making sure the group was completely silent. Batpaw looked at Thunderstrike and nodded before departing with them. He waited a few moments by a large oak tree until he heard yowling in the distance. That was his cue.

Batpaw watched the entire scene play out. Cat upon cat, claws striking each other furiously. He had no words and didn't think it'd be this bad. Batpaw shook his head clear of guilty thoughts and scanned for Thunderstrike. In the process, he spotted Morningkit huddling in the nursery, staring at a limp Squirrelfeather; her throat was slashed.

The apprentice had no words to describe how upset he was. He didn't want his mother to die. Only Moonstar. But, at the same time, she must have gotten in someone's way. He let out a small hiss before Thunderstrike ran up to him, panting. "We have to do this now. Moonstar is in her den."

Batpaw nodded and skidded towards Moonstar's den. He padded in calmly and looked at the leader. She was sitting with her head down. She looked up at the sound of someone coming in. A small laugh left the she-cat. "Batpaw, how are you?"

It was a bit off-putting how calm Moonstar was. Didn't she know of the troubles that were going on outside of her den? Batpaw dipped his head and let out softly,"Do you know of the problems outside?"

"Of course I know! I was just waiting until you came for me, Batpaw," Moonstar countered before standing to her paws and padded out of the den, shouldering past the apprentice.

'She doesn't know of my plan?' Batpaw thought, but quickly shook the thought out and unsheathed his claws. Thunderstrike was already ready, about to pounce as soon as Batpaw did. He inhailed deeply then exhailed. 'Now!' he thought while jumping onto the she-cat's back.

Moonstar easily shook him off and Thunderstrike lept at her. It didn't take long for Moonstar to knock Thunderstrike down, blood trickling down Thunderstrike's side. She couldn't be saved. Batpaw looked at Moonstar with horror then determination. He was going to do what we planned to do. The sound of yowling cats filled his ears and tried to attack once more. Moonstar was ready and knocked the frail apprentice onto his side.

"I do not take betrayal lightly, Batpaw," Moonstar hissed. Batpaw squirmed from underneath her grasp and let out rasping noises as Moonstar's weight crushed him. He was a tiny cat after all. It wasn't too long until Batpaw went limp. The fighting around them stopped as the group of cats began to retreat.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Batpaw woke up with a jolt. His breathing was heavy and his eyes trailed around his surrounding area. It was frightening, at least to a small cat like him.

"Where am I?" he questioned out loud.

"You're in the Dark Forest, Batpaw." A voice called.

That was his fate. Doomed to the Dark Forest; the place only bad cats went. Batpaw never expected to go here; it hadn't even crossed his mind. The apprentice forever wandered the Dark Forest, regret always clouding over him.

Apprentice Name: Leopardpaw
Gender: Female
Personality: A jealousy-driven apprentice with a bad attitude. Spiteful, with no regrets and a will to harm everything around her in order to get what she wants. She's manipulative and devious, but cannot manage to think all her plans through properly, which eventually leads to her downfall.
Why are they in the dark forest, and how did they die?:
"I didn't deserve any of this!"
The young she-cat's tail lashes back and forth like a whip as she narrows her golden eyes at the tom before her. The elder - a tall, grey tabby - quirks a brow and smirks.
"Oh? And why is that?"
He muses, curling his fluffy tail over his paws.
The apprentice spits in anger, her fur puffing out to make her seem three times as big as she really is.

"It's all that stupid tom's fault! HE should've died! Not me!"
And with that, our story begins...

xxx

"Tag! You're it!"
Leopardpaw squeaked in surprise when she felt her fellow apprentice prod her not-too-gently and run past her, giggling madly. She narrowed her eyes playfully and crouched down, her belly hugging the ground and her rump wiggling in the air. Finally, when the other apprentice was nearly out of sight, she sprung up and bolted towards him at lightning-fast speeds, quickly catching up to him as she slammed into his side. The male yelped a bit in shock as the two tumbled down the grassy hill, wrestling and laughing.

Finally, the two apprentices rolled to a stop, the female on top of her best friend. "Gotcha, Talonpaw!" she giggled. "You're it!"
Talonpaw puffed out his cheeks and huffed. "No fair! You didn't give me enough of a head start!"
"Yes I did!"
"No you didn't!"

"That's enough, kits," a voice rumbled from behind them. The two apprentices turned to see a tall, blue-furred tom watching them calmly with amber eyes. Immediately, Leopardpaw's eyes widened and she perked up. "Hello, Thistlefur!" she chirped, hopping up to her paws and wiggling her rump happily. "What brings you here?"

Thistleclaw chuckled, looking down at his apprentice and his friend. "Well, I just thought I'd let you two know there's going to be a Clan Meeting soon... Now, you didn't hear it from me, but a few apprentices will be made into warriors, soon..."

xxx

That's as far as I managed to get, so here's a summary of the rest of the story ;v;
Excited, Talonpaw and Leopardpaw discuss who's going to be made into a warrior, and what their warrior names will be. Of course, they're hoping they both get made into warriors together. Soon after, the meeting is called. The two apprentices rush over eagerly and await their names to be called. First, Talonpaw is called up, and is made into Talonclaw. Afterwards, a few more apprentices are called up, and then the meeting ends. Crushed by not being made into a warrior, Leopardpaw sulks while Talonclaw is being cheered on. He notices her sadness and goes over to try and cheer her up, only for her to push him away sourly.
Their friendship spirals downwards as the days continue, her jealousy always getting the better of her when Talonclaw tries to patch everything up. One day, Leopardpaw is out on hunting duty when she finds a fox trap - set by a few twolegs, no doubt. A devious plan begins to form in her head, and soon after, she heads back to camp to find Talonclaw. She fakes an injury and tells him to come help - that there's a fox in the forest that tried to attack her.
Talonclaw agrees quickly, and, against his better judgement, goes alone.
Soon afterwards, Leopardpaw leads him to the fox trap, and manages to get Talonclaw's paw trapped in it. She attempts to kill him out of sheer jealousy and rage, but Talonclaw quickly strikes her down. He manages to free himself, but Leopardpaw keeps attacking him. Finding no other choice, Talonclaw musters up the will and kills her.
