~ Daydreamer ~ wrote:Cometfur met Murkypaw's gaze evenly, her emotions staying loyal to her expression. She smiled a bitter smile, her pupils burning into Murkypaw's eyes. "If grief makes us useless," She began, "then why are you, why am I, bending to its power? Grief may be self-pity, or selfishness, as you say, but it is nature, and we cannot stop nature, wouldn't you agree? We've both been through more than we hoped for. No matter how painful our past may have been, we've survived. We've both felt grief, haven't we? And now, we're both satisfied, even if not completely; unhappiness is just another step to joy, even if, well, even if it doesn't come in the most safe ways of our lives."
Murkypaw laughed humorlessly, all the while holding her mentor's gaze. "What you see in me is not grief, Cometfern. True, I have lost more than I had ever dreamed of, but I have no reason to grieve for cats I never knew; for parents who never cared for me, for siblings I never played with. I have no memories of those lost; only the memories of those who knew them. Many assume that I'm upset, that I've been wallowing in self-pity my entire life - perhaps this is because my family disappeared before I could get to know them, perhaps it's because I don't socialize as frequently as the other apprentices - whatever the case may be, this is a false belief. I am happy. If I were such a dark and dreary character as our Clanmates believe, how would I even manage to get up in the morning? Vinepaw probably won't be able to do anything but wail pathetically for the next few days, he's so absorbed in Dovepaw's death. And Snakefang will no doubt be extremely touchy and snappy for the next few moons, except to Mistyway. No, Cometfern: my personality simply differs from your's the rest of the Clans'."

Greetings. Toad's the name, and sarcasm is my game. (You may call me Toad.) I am a fan of knitting and most (if not all) varieties of pie. I like pretending I'm cooler than I actually am and acting like a fool. I am the most serious person you will ever meet. Seriously.

Cometfern gave her a cold stare, but her gaze soon softened, "I understood what you're trying to say, or at least, I'm trying to. I was like you once, but my personality changed, and I adapted to be like my Clanmates. If you do not want to grieve for one you did not know well, then it is your choice. So fine, you're different. I can't stop you, Murkypaw, but I suppose you already knew that," She glanced around camp, then looked back at her apprentice. "If you're happy, then I am satisfied with my work of teaching you, and I hope you are too."

Mintpool flicked her ears, then turned and started stacking the leaves again. Somehow, as a medicine cat, she felt alone. Sitting in her small den, the smells of herbs and berries drifting through the air. Once she planted a rose bulb beside the pool, after she dug up the rose to find it's roots. The medicine cat couldn't bear the thought of taking away the life of such a pretty flower, so she brought the bulb back and buried it beside the pool, so she could splash water on it every morning and evening.
Sometimes when she had no company, she would sit beside the rose and watch it, sometimes murmuring small words to it.
But that never helped.
It made her feel more isolated from the Clan.
Isolated because she was different.
Never getting any visitors, unless they are sick or wounded.
Or bringing you prey.
Not a warrior.
Not a queen.
A medicine cat.
The only one in the Clan.
Some would think that it would make you feel special to be the only medicine cat in your Clan. They never will know the truth about being a medicine cat.
Yes, it makes you feel proud when you succesfully heal a cat, or help a cat in need. But when you have nothing to do, and you're all by yourself, sitting in your den, stacking herbs, it makes you feel....lonely.

(Poor Mintpool. ;( I should have one of my charries come talk to her... like my old medicine cat.)
Cinderfrost, the ex-medicine cat, bounded out of the elder's den, still slightly limping on her leg as she entered the medicine den. "Hello Mintpool," She mewed, rather brightly for an elder, "how's it going?" Cinderfrost sensed a coldness in the medicine den, a certain loneliness as she gazed at the young she-cat. "Is something wrong?"

Mintpool jumped, sending catmint flying in every direction around the den, some even hitting Cinderfrost in the face.
"Gee, you scared me, Cinderfrost!"
she laughed, then quickly apologized about the catmint-in-the-face. She plucked a leaf off Cinderfrost's back, and then slowly traipsed around the den, trying to collect the leaves.
"Nothings wrong...I guess,"
she mewed as she picked up the last of the leaves and placed them down on the stone shelf, and put a rock on their small stems so they wouldn't fly away again. Mintpool sat down by the pool and stared down into it, her reflection gazing up at her like she wanted to get out of the water, but was trapped.

"Are you feeling lonely?" Cinderfrost assumed. "Remember Mintpool, you're never alone." She let her gaze travel to the skies, then back to her paws, and then at Mintpool's empty stare. "And if StarClan isn't enough, there's still me, and other cats in our Clan. Just because you're the only medicine cat in ThunderClan doesn't mean you can't have friends. Medicine cats are all about linking the Clans together, and of course, about herbs and helping others. You help everyone get back on their paws; you're needed, and your company is just as great."

((Hey everybody! I made a new thread.
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=368348&p=8465922#p8465922Please post your forms there; we will no longer be using this thread. After you have posted your forms, you may carry on where we were on this thread. I am not finished making the new thread; it still could use a few tweaks here and there... but I must admit that it is much better than this junky thread. Plus, any thread with over 8,000 posts causes a lot of stress on the server, so it's time that we packed our bags and made a new thread anyways.
I hope that you all enjoy it! I am going to have a Moderator lock this thread. To find your forms easily, type your cat's name in the Search bar and go to the last (or first, depending on which forum setting you're using) page, and the form should be there.))
