Quick question I'd like an many answers to as possible!

If you had to pick RIGHT NOW between mice or hamsters, which would you instinctively choose?
WITHOUT taking into account prior experience with either species.

Hamsters are cuter because cheeks.

From the bottom of my heart I do believe that what happened to that horrible person was karma. Do I feel bad for the rats? YES, I feel bad for them even being owned by that sick person. Do I think THE RATS deserved it? NO. Do I think HE deserved it? YES. He can't possible care about rats when he told me he was glad Indie died and hoped my other rats would die. I wish I could have taken all those rats from him, as I know they'd suffer a cruel fate at some point. Am I glad the rats died? NO. Am I glad he is hurt? YES.

The babies all moved into the big cages with absolutely no problems from the older rats. So proud of them!

Luna is happily taking her meds and drinking tons of ensure.

Hamsters, no fail. Just because they are chubbier

Also, does anyone on here know a lot about roan (husky) rats? I think my rescue boy might be roan, but it's hard to tell for me. Any help? Here's a pic of him

Mice

Could just be a blazed rat. Time will tell.
If a roan, look at the ides, face, and tail root, (the color change works up ) every time he molts, he will get lighter.

Haven't been here in a while!

Just a quick one here, my local pet store has some calico hamsters for sale, just three. Where I live, they are extremely difficult to find, should i buy one? they are just about $20. I'm a little iffy on buying from a pet store is all, wondering if its worth it to risk it or if I should avoid it at all costs.

Honestly expected answers to be more one-sided than they were, so not entirely sure how helpful it was to me XD


Basic story behind the questions is that I've found three syrians that I am absolutely in love with. All female, a black banded LH, what I strongly suspect was a Golden Tort (TORT *squee*), and what my best guess is Silver Grey, with markings along the lines of Dom. Spot/Rec Dappled/something similar (didn't get a good look at the body, so not entirely sure).
They were all sooo friendly, and extremely alert & active for the time of day it was.

My mum wants me to get more hamsters instead of mice. She's already tried to get me to get more hams several times, while cooing over adorable, and so tempting, hams in various pet shops. She's also decide that mice would not be suited to me, and is still playing the 'they stink' card (to which I am still replying with 'I have a ferret' and 'I cant smell them, so it doesn't matter to me'). And she is, as per usual, basing the entire species on her extremely limited and terrible experiences with mice.

So, I'm honestly not sure what to do. It's not exactly being helped with that fact that I've never even come into close contact with fancy mice before, whereas I have years, and years of experience with owning hamsters.

I'm confused, and impatient, and don't know what to do

Luna went into critical condition today. The exotics vet says it's not an inner ear infection like we were previously told, it's actually either head trauma or it's congenital. She's going into multiple medications and tons of heat because she's very cold. She's fighting so hard, but she may lose that fight </3 We are doing everything possible to save her.

These past few weeks are going to kill me.
