Silence; the ringing in the ears, an unnerving buzz. A gnawing feeling at the pits of the stomach, but this was easily extinguished. For Virus, he would just snap; stealing the first move - which he had kindly offered to his opponents, if there was a possible chance of survival for them - and he would steal the last breath of those who were unfortunate enough to be closet to him.
Nobody was moving, all staring. Eyes, longingly, gazing out into the beyond, peering through, trying to brush against one another, to read each other. It appeared that they all had a moment to observe him, and that 'brush' of their eyes had prickled his skin. Teasing, perhaps, signifying the fact that they would rather sit back than rush into the fight.
Agitated, there was another little twitch, a flicker in his eyes. His eyes, a black gel glazed over his whites, had hinted a wild rampage, an eternal abyss of deep, soulless pools, but he had blinked simultaneously. Never had he kept his eyes off the others; not a mere glimpse was lost, one eye always watching, never missing a chance. He was no fool, not allowing his opponents to sneak in an attack.

Perhaps he had mad the bravest gesture, stepping out first, in the centre for all to see. All could see his power, all could sense his danger; soon, all would taste his blood, and cringe at the flavour. The tips of his fingertips were tingling, eager to tear through the air and clamp onto his first victim, but he had shushed that hunger. One last second, to be humane, to be clean; clear thought, like flowing water, a stream, rain-watery silence.

Like the tug of a trigger, Virus had shifted, pouncing onto Shark Teeth. She was only a small distance away, barely a gap between them; he was amused by her casualness towards him, how she had bestowed him with the name 'Sailor'. Pirate? How absurd; well, dearest Captain, the captain must go down with their ship. Go down with your ship, or rather, go down with your body; the ending of your life, the madness of your little story.

His first move was an intelligent choice, and Shark Teeth's reaction would be the decision of life or death; Virus would feel pain, but then his blood would contaminate her. His fist had shot up to her mouth, hopefully punching out a fraction of her teeth, and he had spun her around, locking her in his arms. Her held both arms together, one fist grasping onto her wrists, and he had his free arm over her shoulder, where his clenched fist was forced into the caverns of her mouth. He could feel the tips of her teeth, though the pressure didn't break through his skin. He could feel the structure of her jaws forced apart by his large fist, the slick coating of her saliva. "Bite me, Tooth Fairy. Let's see if you can fight the Virus," A harsh tongue, spiked with cold words, had slipped out into the air. Like hands clawing the air, his words had rummaged through the atmosphere, adding a new sense of fear and abhorrence towards him.

If she were to bite, then he would bleed, and so his DNA would leak into her immune system, and eventually brake her apart. Shark Teeth's best weapon were her teeth, though Virus's methods were different. He had learnt that he was a living form of a virus; Christopher was just the vessel, the body for the disease, the envelope for the Virus, passing its DNA into new organisms. He wouldn't die, as Virus depended on him, but others would, and will.

He glanced up to the remaining subjects, the same feral flare dancing across eyes. "You're all going to die!" He had screamed out, a dry wail, his coarse throat clumped, unquenched and savagely grotesque.

The moment Alyssa - Bat - had been waiting for finally arrived. She'd sensed it a moment before, a violent shift in the least recognizable mind. She had originally thought Virus was unreadable, as she felt no emotion or thoughts from him. But his mental outburst was clear as day, the most primal of actions - attack with the intent to kill.

Bat moved against her will before he attacked, a small movement. The slight twitch of her fingers, stiffening of her posture. Maybe it was instinct, or conscious effort to defend against the threat. Virus attacked. The one he chose was confident, and she reacted accordingly. Bat recognized the one as Shark Teeth through echolocation. But Bat sensed something strange from Virus. Was he eager to be hurt? She doubted that Virus was reckless, his attack had purpose. Movement was sensed behind her as well. The subjects were reacting to the attack, most scattering to avoid the chaos. At that moment, Virus screamed fittingly, a threat, a promise. Bat stood her ground. It was not in a display of confidence, as she was sure death was inevitable. Rather, it would be useless to move. Where to? The arena was big, but hiding would only delay death, unless one fought.

The minds of the subjects held mostly fear or surprise, while the spectators above also held the disgusting sense of intrigue. Her yearning for sight was stronger than ever in this moment. Echolocation may serve its purpose better than sights in some ways, but even so, she felt as if she was missing a great spectacle without sight. Bat had planned to observe peacefully until attacked, but observation more challenging than she had thought. Two individuals, strangers to one another, fighting without cause, only to be observed. She realized the unease she had been ignoring was the wrongness of the situation. Would Bat really be able to kill? And if she did manage to end someone's life, whose fault would it be... the scientists, or hers?

Bat's resolve wavered. Why did she doubt? Hadn't she cast away her "human" emotions? As her internal conflict raged, strong hostility from one of the subjects prompted her to whirl around suddenly.

"You're all going to die!"

Every word rang out in the arena, though bounced right off of Snake. Death was inevitable; that was obvious to her. Maybe the point of announcing that was to state the obvious. We are all going to die, so why not make our last moments memorable? Whether they're good or not, these last moments are just as they sound. The last ones. Almost everyone here would breathe they're final breath in this plain, dusty arena. Everyone standing around here would have their life taken by someone around them.
But not Snake.
This was a moment to strike, a cobra and her prey. Tongue darting in and out from between her dry, crackled lips, she watched, silent and unmoving as the others were frozen, observing the violent show put upon them by who she suspected to be the first two to have it out. She waited for the bloodbath, for the crimson to pour, for teeth to shred flesh and muscle, for bones to snap and fists to swing and the inevitable death and oblivion set in front of them, like a finish line. Only, death was they're only prize, they're only reward.
Snake's fingers twitched. Her golden eyes narrowed in on the two while they battled. She stood, stick-straight and completely frozen in place, other than the thin, forked tongue that kept showing itself from between her pale lips. The black clothing each subject was dressed in hung loosely from her shoulders, and thin, lanky structure. Waiting, watching...
One step, two steps, a twist and an Ariel was all it took to reach the subject closest to her; the pale girl with wide, silvery eyes, who could only be Bat. She gripped the throat of the girl and shoved her backwards, claw marks still visible on the underside of her neck. Her top half twisted twice around itself, the sounds of bones popping and her spine cracking emanating from beneath her scaly skin. Her fang-toothed smile gleamed at the girl, her whole torso twisted unbelievably, and like a pressurized spring, she let go. Her chest, middle and shoulders stayed till as she let her legs spin and fling themselves at the girl, smacking against her and knocking her down. Snake grabbed her own head and neck, one hand above her forehead, and one placed under her chin, and yanked; cracks and pops could be heard as she spun her head to the point where her long bangs brushed against the underside of her clothed breast. She let go, and her head retreated to it's originally position. Snake sighed in relief, as if she'd only just cracked her knuckles.

"You're all going to die!" The dry, hideous scream rang across the huge room. Virus had lunged straight at Shark Teeth, grabbed her, pinned her arms, and forced his fist straight into her mouth. Anden-Chameleon's mouth dropped open. Did Virus have a wish to lose his hand? She was, after all, called Shark Teeth for a reason. But then a suspicious thought took shape. He, too, was called Virus for a reason... did he carry a deadly disease on his skin, or in his blood, maybe? "Not on my watch," Arachnid hissed next, but then she seemed to hesitate. Snake, however, did not, and she raced over, shoving Bat and then giving her a spinning kick by twisting her body horrifically.

Anden almost spoke up, almost cried, "Stop!" but Chameleon's alien mind made him hesitate. Why give away his position for a meaningless call that would be ignored? He wasn't as strong, as tough as the others. He couldn't fight them off. Anden's human mind was horrified at this thought, though it was the bare truth. What had happened to him?! To all of them?! How could this be real?! Ever since that day when he was beat up, everything had changed, and so had he. He could stand there and let the others like him beat each other up, when the real enemy was gawking at them like kids at a zoo. He concentrated on disguising himself. Now, he was virtually invisible, and he crept away from the fighters, heart sinking in his chest. He had changed now... he was a miserable coward. He glared angrily up to where they were being observed. It was their fault!

He swept his gaze around the area, but there seemed to be no place to hide, no way to escape, except back through the tubes, which only lead back to the cells. The thought occurred to him that the only way out... was to either die, or combine their forces, but even if they did, what would that lead to? There was still no escape for any of them. He ran a hand over his tough, bruised, gashed skin. They had said if they didn't fight... well, they all knew what would happen. Anden-Chameleon's mind kept whirling through these thoughts, but to no avail, and he ended up with two panicked ones above all. No escape. We're all going to die. No escape. We're all going to die. No escape. We're all going to die...

Shut up!
intervened Chameleon's mind, finally. You're not helping, you're being childish! Keep an eye on the others. If they come near us, show signs of knowing we're here, jump at them, knock them over, and keep running! Anden's mind slowly calmed down, some, with this plan of action. He would still be ready. He wouldn't die if he could help it. Arachnid's hissed words echoed in his head, oddly comforting him. Not on my watch.

The impact shook Alyssa/Bat's thin frame, and had she not moved, her neck might've no longer been in one piece. Bat sprang back deftly, one hand feeling at her injuries. It was a light graze, and the vital part had not been injured. She didn't wince as she turned her neck to face the aggressor. Snake had a smile on her face as she twisted her own body parts in a taunting manner.

"Nice to meet you," Bat said. She wasn't particularly happy about being wounded, but wouldn't it be rude not to greet someone who was obviously smiling at her? Bat did not attack back, but was backing away. She was fairly close to the edge of the arena, and had a plan in mind. It hadn't been perfected yet, so she attempted to stall. "You're Snake, I'm assuming?"

Her talons were raised defensively as she seemed to retreat. She collected Snake's thoughts, emotions, fears, passions. Deep in her memories was something elegant and beautiful, a modest and talented girl. It wasn't something Bat had ever tried before consciously, but it was worth trying. Bat concentrated on a memory, catching glimpses of a dance studio, music playing. The memory was lost as Bat experienced pain worse than the attack split through her head. But that was all she needed. Ignoring the pulsating migraine, she forced the part of a memory into Snake's mind. It was not enough to distract her, not enough to get Bat the time she needed.

Bat moved back rapidly, almost running. She thought of the dance concert she had attended many years ago, remembering the graceful movements of the duo onstage. She wondered if Snake could hear her message, intending to remind her of being human and enjoying life. Was it a futile attempt? Bat did not give up, manipulating the "waves" and replaying those memories ad nauseum.

Snake cocked her head at the blind girl as she spoke, staggering back. She noted the wincing and awarded herself as the girl nearly tripped over her own feet, stumbling as she barely walked. Snake lifted her left leg and grabbed her bare foot, pulling it over her head until she completely different a near-perfect scorpion stance. She let go of her leg and leveled into a martini glass, twisted into an impossibly quick pirouette, that morphed itself into an Ariel. Her body surged forwards, quickening as it sped towards the ground, headfirst, though her legs kicked at the air, forcing her body upright. She landing, stick-straight, eye-to-eye with the girl, who was just barely taller than her. What a show, she congratulated herself silently, in her mind.
The congratulatory thoughts ended as quick as they had come. What? What is this? The image of her spinning on stage, leg raised high over her head as she spun in unison with the others, dresses sparkling in spotlights. Her eyes widened as she stared at the girl, the memories still assaulting her mind. She leaned back the slightest and swung her head at the girl, feeling a moderate surge of pain in her skull as their heads collided with force. "Stop it, stop it now," she hissed as the memories continued, hands clamped at her head, clutching handfuls of hair.

Shark Teeth gave no more than a cursory glance to the other subjects. She was too focused on trying to figure Virus out. Her mind was working overtime. He seemed to be making himself a target, but why? Unless he was hiding some serious secret weapon, he was no match for predators like her and Gator. Perhaps that was it. The mystery of his isolation. And he was called Virus. Perhaps he's contagious, a tentative voice in her head volunteered. She raised an eyebrow, looking into her mind, surprised to see Adasha standing shyly in the light. The girl still had a defiant glint in her eye, but maybe she just didn't want to die. Her advice did seem to hold water. Why else would the scientists be so scared of him?

Before she could truly conclude her inner dialogue, though, Virus jumped her, and she found herself held rather tightly, with his fist shoved in her mouth. His brazen taunt caused her eyes to narrow. Perhaps if he hadn't said that, she would have bit, but his eagerness, combined with her suspicions, ensured no blood of his would be spilled at this time. She opened her jaws a bit wider than he had forced them, before powerfully springing backwards, ripping her arms out of his grip and standing behind him, a curious glint in her eye. "Why so eager to lose a hand, Sailor? You don't strike me as the suicidal type." She delicately picked a few loose teeth out of her mouth, allowing them to grow back. She could tell they would be stronger this time than before. Thanks, Sailor, she thought absently.

{Uh... Loch Ness. I kinda pictured Shark Teeth to have her teeth grow at a normal pace, like ours. But she has an abundance of teeth, so she never really goes toothless. Nevermind, that was great!}

Virus didn't bother replying. Was there any need to, when he would be slaughtering them all? Talking to them would only give them a small sliver of hope; hope was pathetic. It was unneeded, as they had all learnt, throughout time, while being trapped in a cage. He glanced up to the peers, grinning; that black gel of his was glossy against his pale lips, adding a savage sheen to the texture of his complexion, a shimmer of something insidious. Just wait... "This is like a talent show," He called out, loud enough for others in the arena to hear, "and it's my turn to show 'em what I can do." He had stepped back, stretching his arms up into the air, then folded them across his chest; his arms, toned with muscle, tensed, expanding, making him look twice his size, twice as intimidating. A boyish smirk stretched his lips, tugging his face into odd ships, and for once in his life as Virus, he looked vaguely... sane. "Besides, aren't you curious? You see... You subjects, you just have simple symptoms. Hardly a little tweak to your biology. But me, Virus, on the other hand... Well, not even the scientists understand what I am, merely what I can do. Would you like to see?" He had taken steps back while talking, returning to his fraction of the dome, entirely confident that nobody would attack him from behind; not because they would even dare to attempt such an act, but because of curiosity, and the lacking knowledge towards Virus as a whole would intrigue them. He had unfolded his hands, holding out each palm to the air -fingers apart, bare, it felt like a symbol of surrender, an act which defied the events within Area 51- as he had finally felt the curve of his spine met the cold touch of the wall. "Do you want to see?" he had repeated, a sly phrase, his tongue gifted with its own flick of persuasion, it was tempting to reply, as if one had the freedom too. This was not, however, a show and tell, it was never a game.
