"Its nice to meet you all." Evelyn said with a small smile. "We don't have a lot of money so we will be stealing the food." She said. The word stealing felt strange on her tongue, but she ignored it as she continued walking. "I suggest we split up once we get there to look less suspicious. Maybe Rhi with Quinn and Addy with Riley. Or the other way around. It doesn't really matter. Get as much as you can without looking too suspicious then meet back at the edge of the woods." She instructed.

Quinn stuttered in protest once she heard the group names, but calmed a bit when Evelyn said they could be switched. I'm going to stay with Ricky, if that's alright. I'm just more use to having him around. Its more comfortable. She looked at Ricky, who was nodding along with her.

Ricky nodded along with Quinn. We'll get plenty of food. If we need to make more than one run, we can. He offered up, already changing the subject, hoping no one would object to them on a team instead of with the girls. Again, they just needed to be comfortablen

Right in that moment, right there and then, Erin discovered he was comfortable. Not the most inspired of revelations, sure, but to someone sitting on a slowly rotting stump after sleeping in a stone hut in the middle of the woods for the four hundred and eighteenth time, it was, sadly, quite a novelty.

And yet, it wasn't just physical comfort. He'd finally found a place where he fit in, where it was expected that you be yourself. Although, Erin admitted as he idly twirled a leaf between his fingers, he was pretty sure some of the rebels wished 'being himself' didn't mean he'd wake up with scales covering every inch of his skin. That had drawn a few eyes. He stood, and the leaf fluttered to the floor. He'd been sure the hut door had been closed, but how else would a garter snake have made it in? Santiago's huts, though makeshift and admittedly crude, were nonetheless impenetrable to the native wildlife. Or so he'd been told.

"Speaking of our fearless leader," Erin called out as he sauntered up to Santiago, "Tell me. How are you handling our newest recruits?" He grinned, and draped an arm across Santiago's shoulder. "You're looking a little ruffled."

As he strode away from Evelyn's dwelling he had a faint thought that he hadn't decided where he was going - but it didn't really matter. He got to sit around and stress about every single thing that could go wrong while Evelyn and the newbies were off at the town. Even if every time up until then every run to town had gone without any problems, who was to say this wasn't just the day everything would go wrong? A single enforcer out on patrol was all it would take to call down hell on the five people he'd sent off. Though he knew he couldn't have, he was in the middle of telling himself he should've gone with them when Erin walked up to him.

He tensed, then relaxed as the arm fell over his shoulder. Erin had been there from the start - in that first group that escaped from the nearby facility. He'd helped him settle everyone, get everything organized. Sure, he wasn't all muscle like Smith was, couldn't keep order that way, but he was clever. Their original group listened to the three of them, and when it grew it was only reasonable that they would carry on leading - even if Santiago was 'leader' by title, he couldn't have done it alone for a moment.

"Hola, guapo," Santiago said with a slightly nervous laugh - he desperately hoped his panic wasn't showing in his eyes. Instead, he tried his best to smile back at Erin. "I, ah. Please. Let's... let's not. I've sent Evelyn off to get some food because we have to make a months' rations for eighteen accommodate twenty-two. We're running out of everything, Erin. But... eh, let me breathe for a moment, okay? How's the scaly situation going?" Reference to Erin's scaly situation got a genuine chuckle out of him. He ducked out from under Erin's arm, taking him by the shoulders and inspecting him closely. "Handsome as ever, I swear."

xxxRhianna smirked at Adelaide each time she caught her eye with a glare, knowing she was probably thinking up ways to get back at her for the snow cloud. She would have to be on her feet for the next few days, just to avoid something like that. It was all good humored of course, she wouldn't be too upset if Adelaide did manage to get her. She was one of the few whom Rhianna didn't mind doing so; there had been the other girl she worked with a few years ago who was simply a nightmare. There hadn't been a serious thought from her, not even from a moment. Her mutation had been luck, however, and maybe luck made people happy-go-lucky all the time. Whatever the reason, Rhianna had only worked with her twice before the scientists took her back to the labs. Edit out some parts, they had said. Which, of course, mean she was a failed experiment and they euthanized her. Rhianna couldn't say she missed her company.
xxxHer attention turned to ahead of her again, and she felt her frustration build up further. It wasn't easy, playing the good guys. She was an expert in all things combat, and could take out another mutant in the blink of an eye. This wasn't her field. Rhianna felt she was a broken record, repeating the same things over and over. This isn't what I'm good at, this isn't what I'm good at.. Adelaide seemed to notice this, and brushed up along side her, all smiles and cheerfulness. "How're you feeling, Rhi? First day of a new life, right?" Turning to look at her, Rhianna saw her true words reflected in her eyes. Mustering up a smile, she gave an easy shrug. "It's going well, can you believe the freedom we have now? I can't imagine going back." She silently communicated her own words in return, her eyes like chips of ice. Probably too late. Her own tone was as pleased as 'Addy's' when she replied. "Oh, I hope so too!" Yes, this can't go any slower.
xxxEvelyn's voice pulled her out of her conversation with Adelaide, and Rhianna listened with some distaste to whom their partners were going to be. It was of course important to cement further trust with Quinn, and work on Riley, but that meant more acting. Rhianna, was, however, pleased they could switch. Quinn and Riley appeared to echo this sentiment, quickly saying they would be with each other. She nodded, piping up, "It's not a problem, we can bond or something later." A friendly grin spread across her face.
xxxTurning, she waved a hand at Evelyn, calling, "We'll meet back at the camp in an hour!" Pulling Adelaide along side her, Rhianna waited until they were a good distance away from the other three before stopping. Her features shifted from open and friendly to more closed off and neutral, her usual expression. A heavy sigh escaped her, and she flicked her blonde hair over one shoulder. She didn't say anything, but appeared less tense than with the group. The lights of the town were visible through the trees, and Rhianna shot a glance at Adelaide, raising an eyebrow. "Shall we?"

✗ Just to let you guys know, I'll be out of town, at my cousin's house, from this Friday night, March 20th, up until the following Sunday, March 29th. There will be WiFi there, but I don't know how much I'll be able to get on, given I don't see her all that often and want to spend time with her. Posts will most likely be few and far between.

Erin's teeth flashed, but any amusement that had been there drained away. "All good. But, hey," Erin gripped Santiago's arm, "You need anything, you tell me. It's what I'm here for." He dropped his hand, then glanced over the taller man's shoulder. "But tell me. What do you think of the newlings? Especially that girl with a 'A' grading. I mean, cryokinesis is one hell of a power to deal with. I'd love to see you two go toe-to-toe." His eyes, slowly deepening into Santiago's colour, crinkled into a smile.

If he had to be honest, he was scared of the girl. He was good at reading people, so it wasn't just her letter that was making him nervous. She acted like a teen girl who'd just escaped from a nightmare with a best friend - perfectly. There wasn't a line out of place, a smile that wasn't missing, and the wonderment of true freedom was plastered all over her face. He didn't like it, he couldn't trust it.

Quinn's eyes followed the two girls before turning to Ricky and Evelyn. I guess we'll just head off to town then. She smiled and jogged off, Ricky following closely behind. She slowed as they reached the town then sighed. No one specified what kind of food to get. Quinn nodded to Ricky, Go off to the gas station and get some stuff. I'll head to the grocery store. Meet up here then we can head back to camp. Ricky nodded and hurried off as she walked into the store. Walking up and down the aisles, she shoved cans of soup and other non expirable stuff into any place she could fit it. She looked around and smiled a bit to herself. Flicking her wrists, she drew the shadows toward her, allowing them to engulf her. The alarm squealed as she walked out the door, but the shadows kept anyone from noticing her.

Ricky pulled candy bars and drinks off shelves and out of coolers before darting out of the store, but the alarm didn't seem to set off. He looked at it for a moment, then realized it was off and chuckled to himself. He walked out towards the woods, meeting Quinn there. Got everything? She nodded, then turned to head back to camp.
