Oskar - Propwash Junction - Tags: Rush
Oskar brightened upon hearing Rush's suggestion. In the air? That was an interesting idea! He hadn't thought of talking up in the skies. "Oooh ja, ja! I understand! Now just know this... I have extremely limited flight time. My rocket can only carry me about 25 miles before it runs out of fuel. However, I can glide rather proficiently, and I'm more a glider than a rocket really. If I use my rocket sparingly, I can glide for extended periods of time, particularly at higher altitudes! Now that means I'm going to be slower than you until I actually ignite my rocket, at which point I'll be zooming past, but provided you're OK with say circling around me as I glide and radioing to me, we could do that!" the Komet declared. "Just let me finish fueling and then..." Oskar was interrupted by a loud bang somewhere behind him, causing him to jump, his eyes widening and his heart racing as he readied his guns again.
His eyes darted from left to right, panic rising as he tried to turn to see what was going on... but there was nothing to be seen. "What... what in the...?" he asked, gasping as he started to relax, but not fully.
"Probably just some idiot setting off a firecracker in town or something." Dottie sighed, and rolled her eyes. "We get our share of loonies at these air shows too, but fortunately, we band together as a community to keep them under control."
"Ohhh! I see!" Oskar replied, eyes still frantically searching for the source of that noise. "I see... hahah!" He gave off a nervous laugh. He could see some smoke rising in the distance... maybe it had been a firecracker.
"Well... you're all set to go!" Dottie said, removing the nozzle from his tank.
"Wunderbar! Why don't you lead the way, Herr... uh... I don't think I got your name." Oskar said bashfully. "If you take off first, I'll be zooming by you and climbing, then I'll cut my engine and you can catch up... OK?" he asked, making sure that would be OK with the old plane.

If Otter listened, he'd hear his mystery benefactor inhale sharpy at the mention of the accident that had left the F-18 blinded and damaged. It seemed that story affected him in some way given the heavy nature of his voice. "I... I see..." he trailed off here, his voice tinged with sorrow. "Huh... hey uh look... accidents... they... they happen to all of us, OK? I didn't... I mean it's nothing to be ashamed of, OK? Even the best fliers can... can wind up in wrecks." The voice was wavering, apparently trying to control itself as it sounded on the verge of breaking. "You're lucky you survived..."
He paused here as introductions were tossed his way. "Hey uh... got a rock jutting up in front of you." he said. "Turn to the right a little bit. Not too far though... make it 45 degrees and you'll be good. Hello Luka." the warmth was back to the voice now as it addressed the dog. "And pleasure to meet you, Otter! Why do you go by that name anyway?" he asked. "The name's Blade by the way... Blade Ranger." He introduced himself. By now, Otter could feel himself heading up an incline... they were starting to enter the town proper.

Dusty jumped forward, almost colliding with Lightning at the loud bang from behind him. "Ho!" he gasped, whirling around. "What... what was that?" There was no sign of smoke or fire so... but wait! Over by Spray... there was some light gray smoke... but no real sign of a fire. It was starting to disperse in the wind, and Dusty narrowed his eyes, trying to see. "Hey!" He called over to Spray. "What was that?" It was probably nothing... it had sounded like a firecracker of some kind... but just in case, Dusty had to be ready if a fire somehow broke out from someone's irresponsibility...
