Bella. wrote:Hullo! SO I haven't posted here in a while, but I do actually read through everyones posts, I like reading about how everyone's horses are going ^^ Unfortunately I don't have many means to post here as I am not able to ride that often... and even when I do it is just a 1 hour lesson every fortnight... nothing interesting like the stories you guys have!
But, I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on my current situation. Like I said, I am only able to get a lesson once every fortnight, but the past month or two have not been good at all, and I haven't been making any progress. I am 5" 7' (is that how you write it? I don't know xD I am from Australia, 168cm) and the tallest in my class, and I keep getting put on ornery and moody 13hh ponies with really rough gates. Every time I go there I have a positive and optimistic attitude, I reflect on the last lesson and have a plan of action for things that should help me progress... but I am not. The other day I was flat out just getting this pony to trot, let alone canter which is what I am struggling with (in the end I got maybe 4-5 strides out of her). So my point is, I am thinking of switching barns. The other place I am thinking of is a little dearer but not by much, but instead of just generic english lessons this barn has english or western options, plus trail ride options also. Now to me that sounds alright, just the variety, but is the horses I keep getting stuck with a reason to switch? I don't organise the lessons, my parents do, and they have already told the owner that I can't keep progressing with the ponies that I am being put on. I mean, put the 5 year old on the pony, and let me have the 16hh horse instead of the other way around -_-
//So a little bit of a rant, but any advice would be nice if any of you have been in the situation before C:

@Hime - wow, Heta has a very nice fuzzy coat! And nice deal on the rug too. I wish Australia had snow, I am sure it would be fun to ride in (minus the freezing of fingers etc) :p Hopefully that cold weather stays away though so you can use the arena - I am sure you would be sick of all the slush by now.
