Hello all and welcome to the very first Bayside Equestrian Center Pas de Deux Competition!
There two classes in this show, a costumed freestyle class and "normal" Pas de Deux class without costumes. I will cover those later.
Both classes are a collaboration. I don't care if one of you draws a flower and the other does everything else- do what works for you. However, you must work together!
The normal Pas de Deux class takes place in Bayside's dressage arena at sunrise. The costumed freestyle class also takes place in Bayside's dressage arena, though the class runs in the evening. The weather is warm and slightly balmy.
NORMAL PAS DE DEUX INFORMATION
Please remember that what one horses is doing the other must be doing as well! This applies to BOTH classes!

Attire wrote:- For all four levels, a shadbelly coat with a thin white show shirt underneath is desired but not needed. Training Level and First Level are fine with a normal black hunt coat with a hunter show shirt underneath.
- White breeches and white gloves are required for both riders.
- Tall boots are required!
- For all levels, the riders can have a helmet. A tophat/dressage hat is allowed only in Third Level.
Tack wrote:- Both horses must be wearing a black dressage saddle and a black dressage bridle. Blingy browbands are allowed!
- Only in Third Level may one or both horses use a double bridle. It is NOT allowed in any other level!
- Both horses must have the same saddle pads! I don't care if both are bright red or any other color, but try to keep it realistic. Would you really go into a Dressage ring in real life with a tye-dye saddle pad?
The Levels wrote:- There are four levels. Training, First Level, Second Level, and Third Level.
- Training is the lowest level for both horses, riders, and artists. Horses should be on the bit with good frame. No advanced movements are in Training Level. Both horses only have to be drawn walking, trotting, cantering, or halting. But remember, this is a collaboration- the two horse's movements must be synchronized!
- First Level is the start of the true levels, and is for moderate artists. In addition to walk, trot, canter, (I am removing halt for the higher levels- I know, I am evil.) there are gait extensions.
- In Second Level, things start to get more fierce, and is for advanced intermediate artists. There is the addition of the half pass at the walk and trot, renvers and travers.
-Third Level is the most advanced, and is for advanced artists. In addition to everything in the lower levels, there is the added piaffe and piroutte.

COSTUMED FREESTYLE INFORMATION
Attire wrote:- Riders should be in costume. The two rider's costumes do not have to be the same, but they must go with the "theme".
- A helmet is required- no hats allowed.
Tack wrote:- Horses should be in-costume, going along with the theme of their rider's.
- Dressage tack if preferred, but not required.
Levels wrote:-This class is one big level- everyone is in it together. Advanced and beginner alike.
Do not worry though, this class is judged mainly on creativity :)
