The Slacker
Micky Rob Jackson
Micky skipped school today, but not such a shocker. He skipped days only when he did not feel like going, or he was alone in his house and he could do whatever. He glanced down at the ground before rolling his shoulder blades. Smiling to himself as he flexed in front of the mirror like every morning. Checking how he looked, Micky would brush his teeth and comb back his hair. Finally, ending the morning cleaning with a splash of water to the face. Chuckling under his breath, Micky would grab a towel and wipe off the water from his face. Glaring outside the window, he would see his mother feeding the farm animals. Slightly shocked that she was here. Quickly, Mick would throw the towel over the hook on the wall before bolting to get dressed up as soon as possible. The boy would throw on a pair of jeans and a flannel, stumbling over a few times as he worked on putting everything on. Once he found success in putting his clothing on, Micky would run to the kitchen. Picking up an apple and some bacon, the slacker would roll out the open window with the bacon his mouth and the apple clutched in his right hand. He would land with a grunt when he hit the ground with his shoulder from his lack of balance. Mick would sigh, peeking over the edge of his house. He watched his mother work hard at the fields. He wanted to help, but he should be in school. Checking the watch he had, made him bite his lower lip. It was the end of school already, which meant another day of not learning or anything to worry about. Smiling softly, he would look back at his mother before running over to her. Micky helped her feed the horse,
"Hello, ma!" he held a wide grin. His mother would hug him,
"Hello sweety. How was school?". The boy froze slightly, throwing in an awkward smile,
"Been great." he lied through his clenching teeth,
"Hey I am going to hang out with some of ma' buds." he said, looking toward her sun-burnt face. His mother would nod her head, rolling her eyes. A silent agreement,
"Thank ya!" Mick would walk off down the trail and toward the school. His friends usually take this trail, so he stayed on it.
The Red-Neck
Jimmy R. Butcher
Jimmy was already out of school, he had to leave early because he told the teacher he had a horse competition. Laughing about how his teacher fell for it. The red-neck was at home, riding around with his horse named Buck. He was holding a wide grin while Buck jumped over a hurdle he made. Yelling out a 'Yee-haw' before leaping off the horse, rolling across the ground. Jim would throw his fist in the air before clapping,
"Well done, Buck!" he hollered out to his horse. Buck would rear up before slamming his hooves against the ground releasing a snort. Jim would imitate the horse's snort, laughing afterwards. He would wait for his girl-friend who was still at school. Or he might change his mind and wait at her house. Thinking about it, Jimmy would tie his horse to its post before heading his way to Pax's house.
