Coming Soon!

Snow lions are a lion subspecies inhabiting the mountains of South Africa and Asia. They come and go with the snow, rarely straying on dry, warm territory.

In appearance, their anatomy is very similar to that of the extinct American and Cape lions. Both sexes bear thick, shaggy fur around their necks, the males usually being much thicker than the females. Soft fur grows between their toes, around their paws, and their elbows and rumps. Both the male and female possess a double layer of fur at their cheeks, usually hidden by the male's mane.
Unlike their extant relatives, these lions' tails are thicker with no bristles at the end. Their pelt colors also have more variety, appearing in greys, gingers, and the rare maltese. Patterns are also known to exist, but aren't very common.

Similarly to their extant relatives however, these cats are very social, preferring the company of at least one other snowy. They hunt medium-sized prey in prides, and smaller prey individually.
A queen, or nursing snowy lioness, can have up to three cubs at a time.
Cubs are born blind and defenseless, relying on the small space of their mother's bedding sight for protection, and of course her warmth and milk.

Spotting a snow lion is said to bring the viewer luck; however which type of luck depends on the lion. Of course, this is just a rumor. c;
Snow lions are rather difficult to spot in the wild, however it is possible for these giants to be tamed and even domesticated. In fact, domesticated snow lions can be bred to show rare markings and mutations hidden within their genes, which are extremely rare to find in the wild. So the more snow lions you own and breed, the more likely your chances are of your snow lions bearing these said markings and mutations.

This is a closed species designed by me (Nebelung of Chickensmoothie). These adopts are purely for fun! You may use your snowies however you'd like, whether if that's through breeding, drawing, writing, or roleplaying!
I only ask that you credit the species to me! c:
