He finished his glass of orange juice and set it down next to him, scrolling through playlists on his phone searching for a better song. He didn't look up when anyone walked in or out right beside him choosing to zone out into his own world.


Millie Veyy • 4 • Liz
Her eyes suddenly brightened and in a spur of the moment burst of energy she spastically exclaimed. "I want tomatoes!" Then, holding three fingers up added. "Three many!"

Ash looked up startled, before giving the girl a shy smile. He waved slightly and signed his name, though it wasn't likely that she would know sign language. He took a step forward and held out a hand to shake.

Cole
The worker smiles at her. "Hi Liz. Is the owner of the home here? I need to talk to her before I can leave."
Cole simply rolled his eyes, irritated by the little girl. "Yeah, yeah kid. Whatever."

Milo
Milo only recognized the A and S from the one sign language course she had taken in second grade. She took his hand and smiled. "I'm Milo. Sorry, I don't know most signs. Here, uh..." she rummaged through a few drawers before finding a pad of paper and pen and handing it to the boy.

Ash took the paper gratefully, writing neatly. My name is Ash. Nice to meet you, Milo. I liked your dancing. Can you tell me what I should do with my stuff? He shyly handed the paper for her to read

Liz smiles at the case worker and calls out into the house, "Mommy, we have some more people!" She looks at the boy with an annoyed look as she waits for her "Mom" to get here.

Alyssa hears Liz and smiles a little. She goes to the door and sees Liz move out of the way. Alyssa also sees another girl, a boy, and a case worker. She goes to the case worker and says, "Good morning"

Milo blushed. "Nice to meet you too. And thanks. Umm, here, follow me." She lead the boy up the stairs to the boy's room. "Here. I think those beds are free," she said, smiling at him.

Cole
The case-worker smiles. "This is Cole. I assume you've read his file? Due to the circumstances, I need you to sign this," she said, passing her a clipboard.
Cole grunted and shoved past Alyssa into the house, scowling at Liz.

Ash gently took the paper back to write on. Thank you. I'm not very good company so I can understand if you want to leave. Instead of looking bitter, he just smiled again and slid his duffel under the bunk carefully. Carefully he sat down and looked around silently.

Milo shrugged. "Nah, it's fine. I'm loud enough for two people anyways." She had actually been waiting for someone, anyone, to talk to and she liked the boy in front of her. He was nice, and he wasn't making fun of her, so...
