Has joining WMEs affected you in any way?
The good: Joining this community has taught my patience and improved my art skills, there was a lot I couldn't draw before I started drawing equids. I also made some friends who mean the world to me and have helped me to overcome some of my own inner demons and anxieties.
The bad: This community has also taught me that my opinions aren't always welcome and even if I do what's right, some people will react explosively against it. I've also learned that some people aren't always going to be my friend even if they're friendly towards me, and though that contributes to my nervousness and anxiety, I need to be cautious. But I can't tread too lightly when facing people who may not like me, walking on eggshells does me no better than exercising no caution at all.
As a mod, I've also learned that I can't always be nice, even if I want to be. Some people have to be treated firmly because kindness is seen as weakness when it comes to disciplinary actions and enforcing rules sometimes.
What was your reaction when you first saw each of your equids (breedings, adopts, or customs)?
Alois: Breeding - I kind of cried, I was so excited to have him, he was my first equid and a gift from two of the kindest members I'd met at the time. <3
Rainhart: Breeding - I was also very excited to have a friend for Alois, even if she acts more like his mother than a friend.
Levi: Custom - I hadn't planned him out too well, I just had a vague idea of what I wanted. Though now I wish I'd drawn a ref instead of just saying what I wanted, he's still one of my most popular and beloved equids.
Tafari: Custom - Designed by myself and brought to life by Horsy. Though I watched him being made, every time I look at him, I see an old friend, one I've spent years with. He was a gift given to me during a particularly hard time of my life, and he really helped make a terrible winter a whole lot warmer. <3
Rin: Breeding - His father was my dream stallion and when I lost him, I was incredibly devastated. But when I was offered breeding slots with his father to create Rin, I was so happy when he was created.
Noel: Custom - Designed by myself and brought to life by Cookierabbit. By far one of my most impressive equids, my first rare equid as well. When I saw him finished and on the adoption page, I really couldn't believe something I designed could turn out so gorgeous. And Cookie had created him! <3
Nabisco: Adopt - The first equid I won after a whole year of trying. I pretty much cried my eyes out after running around my apartment. Scarred my bunny to while I was hooping and hollering about actually winning a contest. Probably one of my most treasured equids. <3
Mink: Adopt - My second 1st Gen I won through a naming contest. And the first equid by Ghost I managed to win! Named after one of my favorite characters of all time, I also did a victory lap around my apartment while my rabbit watched me from the couch. Definitely one of my most treasured equids as well. <3
Aoba: Custom - Designed by myself and brought to life by Ghost. I'm obviously obsessed with aquiring roans, aoba is the blueest of the blue roans currently in existence, which is now illegally blue by the new breed standards. When Ghost created him, I was amazed and not so surprised Ghost could make him look so much better than the scribbled ref I gave her to work from. <3
Matriarch: Adopt - Tafari's sister, and my boldest mare. Another victory lap when I won her, this time my rabbit joined me in the victory lap. I sort of favor ghost's equids. >>; ...<3
Eren: Breeding - Aoba's son, and holy cow did Folk impress me with this one. I wasn't able to request the eye color but she somehow read my mind and gave me exactly what I wanted. One of the prettiest foals I've ever seen come out of Folk's pen. >>; ...<3
Evangeline: Breeding - My favorite mare out of my entire herd. When I got permission to breed Skylorne and Imogen, I sort of went nuts and tried to figure out how I should request this little filly. Ghost, as expected, made magic out of my breeding request. <3
Numinex: Custom - Designed by Ghost and brought to life by Ghost. I had a lot of trouble trying to design myself so I passed the torch down to Ghost who managed to get my jumbled thoughts onto a canvas. My #1 Favorite Stallion and my second Rare Equid. When he was actually posted, I was worried I'd get myself and Ghost in trouble because he was a shiny dragon, but he passed inspection and is unique in the fact he's the only one of his kind. He's the only dragquid that isn't Dappled(?). I'm too lazy to check if that's true...
Sherlock: Readopt - I CAN'T BELIEVE I ACTUALLY OWN THIS MARE. Previously horsy's, I was worried she wouldn't be able to come home to my herd. But when I won her, I was not only excited but relieved. Sherlock has a permanent seat as one of my most beloved and appreciated mares. Also designated foalsitter for any new foals I may get in the future. <3
Sei: Custom - Designed by myself and brough to life by Ghost. I need to stop picking on Ghost to do my customs, her hands have to hurt after making so many equids for me. >< Sei was a design I REALLY wanted to own, so when Horsy gave me permission to have him made in exchange for making her heartbeat filly, She would have stolen Sei if I didn't make her heartbeat filly. >>; I turned to Ghost yet again. I need to stop saying which equids are most treasured. Who am I kidding? I treasure all of them. <3
Dirk: Breeding - Holy crap, I actually got one of Erwin's breeding slots... When Folk posted Dirk along with Dave, it was the middle of the night so I couldn't really lose my mind, I waited until the next morning to gush over him and his little bro. Once a Homestuck, always a Homestuck. >>;
Ruffian: Adopt - I admire this horse a whole lot, actually owning an equid who resembles such a iconic filly who died in a tragic way. When I actually won her, I didn't actually run a victory lap, I just sort of stared at my computer screen with my mouth open and showed her off to my mom. <3
