I am torn on the idea, if I can throw in my two cents... Please don't eat me for this.
I could see the positive side of offering breeding slots for DA points or money would help people get the breedings they want, like have a set number of slots that can be "bought" on top of the free ones given out just as a way to essentially guarantee the person that they had a breeding slot rather than having to fight with everyone else for the chance to maybe or maybe not get the slot. I personally don't think I would do that as I just enjoy doing the equids and don't feel any need for monetary gain from them, but I could see that some of the others might want to look at it as a possibility.
I, however, am hesitant on the customs side of things. People had to work really hard to get one most of the time, like with the 200 challenge or the winter sleigh contest. I could see that it would be very unfair to people who have to work their butts off to get a custom when they look over and see people being given them because they have some spare cash lying around. I feel like that part of it will just cause conflict within the community. I do like the idea of having like a "donation pot" that users could donate to voluntarily if they want to have the chance at winning a custom and have it as like, an annual or semi-annual thing, so that there aren't suddenly a ton of customs being given out. Maybe that would help a bit with the split feelings..? Idk sorry please don't eat me, I'm just throwing out ideas/possibilities/my thoughts..

It's just an example, but it would be interesting. This way rare customs would cost more
I actually really like this idea

Don't worry Kita, I was going to talk to each artist as this does affect them, so its important to include you, so when I'm back home (not at work) I'll drop everyone a pm so the artists can throw their 2 cents in, as they are the most important party involved.

I feel like we should have more opportunities to possibly get customs if we aren't able to pay for them. I've been waiting for an opportunity such as the 200 equid challenge, and yeah it just hasn't happened so it gets frustrating at times. And I'm not the kind of person that has money to blow, I would seriously save up especially for a custom opportunity. It would be special to me and someting I've actually worked towards. I feel like breedings should at least be avaliable for the $1.00 expense. I would die to have them done in a somewhat timely manner.

I understand this is horsy's species and I will respect what she does with them, despite whether or not I agree with it. I personally had a very negative reaction when I first saw the post about people being able to buy equids because those of us who can't afford to do so will feel left out and it would create a nasty set of feelings towards one another in the community. i suppose i cant really argue fairness because there are those that would argue its fair to people who bave money and could pay. I'm just very wary of this idea and the negative aspects that could come out of it if some of us are forced to sit and watch while others buy equids that we never had a chance at
I kind of agree with Dream on the custom buying, especially if it's a regular thing. The 'raffle' thing - with each user donating some points into a pool, then they get raffled and one person recieves a custom - seems the fairest option to me, especially if it's only annually/biannually. That way, the artists still get their (very justified!) recognition/retribution, but there isn't a massive divide between the people who can afford/are able to pay, and those who aren't.
Idk, I can just see things getting really sour if buying customs was a regular thing, ditto regular paid breedings :3

I'm a bit splitted with the Idea.
I myself took part at the 200 WME challenge and I have to agree eith kita that it was a hell lot of work to do.
But I would also be willing to pay for a custom. The thing that I see is, that all the rare Themed Equids would not be that rare anymore? So maybe only normal customs?
But so far I love the Idea with the raffle thingy. Maybe it would be possible to also enter for the ones who don't have DA amd get a payment from them as Art/C$/Pets/Breeding Slots or whatever.
so that everyone who wants to enter realy gets a chance.

I feel compelled to comment on this one. I do like the idea of having a different option for breedings. I have had my mare Vivace for nearly a year now and been unable to catch an artist breeding slot. I will admit that I have kind of backed away from the species, partly due to the inability to obtain a second equid. I truly like the lack of an ownership limit, however the competition for the adopts as well as artist breeding slots have intimidated me. I don't like the idea of having to pay for artist slots, but if it was some small fee, I might consider it due to my lack of luck in the past.
I'm neutral on the paid customs. I would like a custom but I feel like offering them in that way would make them less rare as those with access to funds would snatch them up. I'd love to have options like the 200 equid challenge back (I missed that opportunity).
(Sorry I got a little of track there..)

I also like the idea of it just being normal customs. Also, I would hate to see it being a once a year or twice a year event. I plan on doing commissions to afford this, since my parents wouldn't allow me to spend what money I do have on pixels. But, I would need time to earn the money. I would also want to be able to raise enough money through commissions to be able to give customs to those who can't get money.

I STRONGLY agree with this. I don't really want to be put at such a disadvantage... And I feel like I would be one of those people that would become quite sour, and I probably wouldn't stick around long...
