actually, since riding horses, like dogs, are only for nobility, and most of the quest goes are randoms off the streets and probably don't know how to ride, they'll probably be making most of the journey on foot. at least, the very start they will, since they'll be travelling through naviri, which is far too dense for hooved animals. they'll be carrying some money so they can buy more supplies once theyre through the other side, and pack animals if they choose. if you want the viscount's people can have someone arrange mounts for the knights, but i suspect pretty much everyone else will likely have never seen a horse never mind ridden one.

✗ Makes sense about the horses. The elves would be too poor to afford one, given their status with the humans, and the humans are criminals in everyone's eyes. Horses are for royalty, so I doubt they would have one! Fabian might though, considering he is a kind of noble. Or he would at least have riding experience. Kalli probably will have seen some before, but dwarves don't really have a use for the creatures, given most are much too tall for them. She could have ridden a pony before, but most likely would be about as lost to riding as the rest of the party.

I could do the timeskip, if everyone is alright with that. How far ahead do you want to go, or where?

✗ Yes, I think that would be great! Kalli would totally teach herself how to ride, if only to rub it in Fabian's face, and to - finally - be taller than almost everyone in the group.
They would get so sassy with each other though

I could totally see them sparring with each other along the way, just to try prove who's better. Maybe they could form a kind of friendly - or not so friendly - completion with over it. Almost like Gimli and Legolas from LoTR; when they're counting kills. Maybe less friendly or nice about it though, depending on what you think.

And okay, great. I'll just have them meeting outside the city then, around dawn. People can post their character's arrivals when they have time, and then we'll get going.

Edit: Working on a post now, but one question. Will they be starting out with pack animals, or will only Fabian have a horse? I'm writing Kalli with a donkey, but let me know if I should edit.

I've got a post for Estel and Tauriel up. Wow, Tauriel's gonna have a depressing story for a little while. Also, I've been wondering if we're planning to have anyone die on this quest? I could volunteer Estel if necessary, though I do feel he'll take on a bigger role soon. I don't wanna kill Tauriel, though, I feel like my poor baby has been through enough. D:

oh man, deaths. well, if anyone drops out suddenly, we'll have their characters killed off. other than that, you're under no obligation to have them die; they're all professionals after all.

no problem w the donkey, although maybe there will be problems later on when they're traversing the forest. though they'll be taking a trail, it'll be pretty overgrown. if jade wants us to meet her second character here then i suspect they'll be going off the track as well, but this isn't a big issue.

thanks for doing the timeskip btw, ive had a very busy weekend. im on holidays this week though so my responses should be pretty regular for now
