Hopefully I don't get carried away with the brutal past this time xD
[it happens. hence why rosemarrie carries around a flyswatter with my name on it]
And oh my gosh if I am to be honest I'm not even a huge fan of the majority of the names in this story, they all totally named themselves.
It's like I go, alright you're name is going to be-
"My name is Kay."
... That's a terrible name-
"My name. Is Kay."
... Fine.
... Does that only happen to me?

omg rosie needs to give me one
Pffft definitely not, characters naming themselves has become such a problem for me too
i mean, how does that even work?
One of my characters is called Derek and I absolutely hate the name. Seriously, Derek Hoots? what kind of a name is that?
ANYWAY we're getting off topic
the three chapters so far are beyond amazing.
all I'm gonna say.

Pff oh lord, I have to keep a flippin taser around for her, she's worse than I am xD
The evil we have conjured...
Though admittedly she's usually the only one that has the guts to write the heart wrenching things I think up
Oh I'm so glad lol
I mean I suck with girl names in general
gods help any daughter I ever have
But I'd just like to take this opportunity to mention that their names carried on from the original project that was thousands of years after the strikes
So
Electra and Azure are meant to sound space-y
And Cascade and Arvia are water-themed
And Ezekiel, Margrette, Vincent, and Gretchen were meant to sound very... Very... Very old...
And well thank you xD
I'll try to have another one up tomorrow,
that is,
if I don't actually end up getting any ideas for continuing Swindle lol
And I do have an idea for a scene with Arvie and Vincent for my next 100 one-shot challenge...
Hmm...
Or maybe I'll draw them...
I suppose we will see what tomorrow brings...
And now I will quit with the rambling
/endramble

_________________________________________________________________________________"Sir!"
The breathless cry came with the sound of echoing footsteps running down the hall, making the heads in the dark room turn.
"Sir!" The voice repeated before a petite brunette woman wearing a lab coat slowed to a stop once she made it through the doorway. She doubled over to take a deep breath, clutching a plexiglass tablet in her hands as the flickering screens on the walls reflected off her round glasses.
"Yes?" A deep voice rumbled slowly, turning in his chair to face the woman in the doorway. "What is it?" He asked coolly, though mild irritation and impatience laced his voice.
"I'm sorry to interrupt, sir," she gasped, straightening up and pushing her glasses back up he bridge of her nose, "but a reading of the utmost importance has been made among one of the beta Americans in the A7 division." There was a long silence before she realized the figure expected her to continue. Jumping slightly, she held out her tablet and flicked her fingers across the glowing blue screen, pulling up charts and holograms only to swipe them away again as she searched for what she was looking for. "It seems as though subject... Margrette Clermont is already with child," she explained, peering closely at the screen once she found what she was looking for.
"Terminate it," the figure said without hesitation and a wave of his hand. He began to turn the chair back around but stopped abruptly as the scientist continued.
"With all due respect sir, that would be a foolish idea," she said nervously. "The father of the child has the highest IQ in the entire unit..." she trailed off and bit her lower lip, nervously switching things around on her screen.
"Samantha," the voice cooed, "you know I don't appreciate when you keep things from me."
The woman looked up with wide eyes and swallowed hard, her hands shaking slightly. "The Alexandria Genesis has been detected in the fetus," she said in a rush.
The man immediately swiveled his chair towards her, his silhouette against the screens behind him straightening up as his fingers began to drum on the arm rests. "That is indeed news of importance," he mumbled under his breath. "Cease the trials."
"I... Can't do that, sir," she stammered. "The programming is already in effect. To shut them down would take longer than it would for the first to begin and halting them in the middle could mean disaster."
He stopped drumming his fingers and gripped the end of the arm rests. "Give me an estimate."
"Ten months... Perhaps a year?" She offered. "It depends entirely on the efficiency of the unit."
"Keep her alive," he said, his voice growing in volume and demand. "We must not lose this child." Suddenly, the figure shot up and slowly paced around the room, head hanging and hands clasped behind his back. "Just a strand of it's mutated DNA will render the entirety of the trials null and void. This could be the answer."
