You can ask anything that has to do with writing, which includes specific advice and personal questions, so both.
You ask them after one writer is chosen for the week, but you can ask the same questions to the next writer too.

I feel like the current system for this thread is a bit too disorganized. It seems like we should have all the candidates before anyone votes, and being able to vote for everyone seems like it doesn't so as good of a job of picking who the most people want to interview. So, I thought of two different possible systems that I personally think would work better.

The first system adds a lot more organization, though does slow down the process. There would be three periods, each one with a different purpose. The first period would be the signup/entry period, where anyone who wanted to join could simply post that they wanted to join, and then the entry period would end either when there are ten possible interviewees, or simply after a week. Second would be the voting period, which would be one week long, where all the entered author's usernames and possibly story links would be put in a poll, and people would vote on that, and would probably only be allowed a maximum of two votes. Then would be the third and final period, the interview period, where people simply ask the author with the most votes random questions. This system would slow things down a bit, but would be a lot more organized. It would be possible to make all the periods shorter if it seemed too slow, so each period would be maybe two days instead of a full week.

Then the second proposed system completely does away with pretty much any organization whatsoever. Instead of people voting for a specific writer to interview, people could simply ask random questions and anyone who wanted to answer could. This system is a lot simpler, and would probably be more fun, but is very disorganized.

These are just some ideas of mine, you don't have to use them!

@Above - I kinda agree with you.

My idea is that we get your list of writers, and have them sorted on a list by when they joined. Then, each week, the next two in line would be interviewed, no matter what the votes. With votes, imo, it's just a big popularity contest.

@Aliria I see where you're coming from, but when this idea was mentioned on Inklings the majority of people had a different opinion. The idea was to give everyone an equal chance, and that's what I'm doing. It wouldn't be fair to narrow it down to just a few people, at least that idea wasn't very popular before, and it would be extremely complicated and time-consuming. And you suggested to narrow it down to ten or so people, but barely ten people have joined. It is a little disorganized right now, but that's because it's only just starting up, it'll get better c: a system will eventually start rolling. I appreciate your ideas, but I'll be keeping it this way.

@Tadashi Hamada The idea behind voting was to keep the activity up. When people vote for others they are interested in, this makes the question outcome as high as it possibly could be, instead of going down a list and having people that might not get any questions. And it's not really a popularity contest, since everyone will only be interviewed once, so even without just going down the list, everyone who signs up will get a chance no matter what, and everyone will get a lot of questions.

Sorry if my side of things seems offensive... The intention is quite the opposite. I thought about all these possibilities already and this way turned out to work the best so this is probably the way it will be staying. But I mean, I'm always open to ideas! I like to hear them and I will always consider them c: but I still think this is the best way for now
